Skill stick is so rewarding. I really don’t like the idea of easier ways to do these dekes but whatever it doesn’t affect my game style .

It totally seems like they made it a team sport with three facets instead of the rush and just getting down low or taking that weird angle shot - super excited to see the goalie not make 49 saves in a game and my goalie giving up 4 goals on 6 shots and when your literally in the offensive zone 13 minutes to 43 seconds but still lose lol

@@methodz2850 I played about 30 games in test the games COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NO MORE PLAY PROTECT NET AND HAVING GUYS SIT IN OZONE LETTING THEM BLOCK SHOTS FORCING THEM TO PLAY DEFENSE WHICH THEY SUCK AT AND THEN EXPOSE THEM ON TIMER ! I beat some top not div 1 players last week I recognized there gamer tags

L2 I will miss because you basically had full control over your player but I do understand why casuals hated it. By far, L3 triggering the protect puck animation while I'm trying to stick handle or shoot is the most frustrating change.
Is there any cross checking or scrums after whistles?

Hi Eki, thank you for your insight. Does pass interception works differently now? In 23 for me bumping into the body of the recipient was far more effective than actually covering the lane (with vision control).
There was a couple new interception animations, but some passes still went through players so tough to say.

One thing I'm curious about is some of the new puck protection and net front battle animations they showed off in the dev talk video from a few days ago (there are many frustrating moments around who gets the puck in 50/50 situations when you and your opponent are going for a retrieval especially in the corner) and defenders not being able to deal with guys sitting in the slot leading to forced pass goals. At 9:50 in this video I linked here you can see an example of new animations I'm talking about. Earlier they showed net front battle animations too of offensive player fighting to get their stick free from a defender. As opposed to just standing in front untouched. Notice anything different here? Another this I'm curious about is can you take the puck off of an AFK opponent who's standing completely still without taking a penalty lol. ua-cam.com/video/C22A1il0CLY/v-deo.html
The majority of the time I use L2 is just to face the player I am passing it to. Looks more authentic then, and I don’t know how they do it, but carry the puck behind them and then make this hard pass from that. Seems impossible, but many do it. And then, also, like Makar, breakout from behind net does the gets sideways then reversed direction, love that look and play.
Would be pretty epic to see >60 fps in Chel but hey maybe next year 😂 also, how were the loading times and does the menus still feel laggy?

Do you have any news on presentation besides what has been talked about? I’ve been hearing that we are getting full presentations again and that some songs are licensed in the game but then others are saying no…
Presentation wise there were new replay cameras, I think new celebrations, new player icons with energy bar underneath the player (👍), digital boards, 1 new commentator. Probably something else as well that's the stuff I noticed

how did the input delay felt like was it like last year or did they fix it?
HUT and WOC (servers) have had the issue with delay. Couldn't really test those modes other than 1 WOC game. Impossible to tell before the game is out. My personal thought is that the delay happens when more players connect to the servers.
Will goal songs be added back to the game for NHL teams or new jerseys for the creation zone be added?
How are the goalies? Also the computer teammate ai? Are the computer teammates aware of the plays that are happening?
Goalies were down on the ice a lot more like I said, and they moved behind the net quicker.
AI felt similar. Only thing I noticed a difference in was them covering the slot a bit better on defence. Other than that I can't say they've improved.
Am i gonna be able to invite a friend on ps5 or series x if i'm on ps4?

I really hope they improve the presentation system, so it look like a real hockey game presentation and broadcast. It was not cool to feel like you watch some arcade hockey in every game mode. In NHL 23, there is no any replays about hits, saves. No replays in shootout. Broadcasting and presentation did not gave the feeling that you are watching a real hockey game.
Conclusion: They should add "full presentation" option back so players who want to use it, can use it.

I want to know I’m a competitive player and I am wondering if using the skill stick will still be an effective way to play the game considering it sounds like the new controls make the game too easy
Yes if you know the controls. I Still probably pull the total control button moves off faster with the skill stick because I'm just used to it. But it does able players who haven't been able to do the lacrosse for example to do it now.

Got in from the NHL 24 community event in Vancouver.
Is Polgz play still a thing ? There was one in trailer but wonder how easily it can be done.
It was harder. Goalies felt faster behind the net and Defensive AI seemed to cover the post better.

In years past the duel entitlement has allowed to to open all your packs then starting the ps5 edition giving you all the xfator packs again and your content becomes unreadable- will this still be a thing I know I used it to get 4 team builders last year
Why did they remove backskating with the puck?
Probably they just haven't liked how players used it and how op it was. Like it did look terrible when players spmmed it and moved like a ballerina across the ice 😂 I do think they went overboard with it cause like I said you basically can't turn your back against the net at all now when skating forwards or when your in the corner etc.
I agree that it was very op but they shouldn’t have removed it completely. I loved being able to make those half cuts watching opposing players completely miss on checks and pokes.

Absolutely disgusted that they removed the hybrid controls, I really dislike the skill stick controller button setup and I doubt I am going to enjoy the new control system so I will just continue playing NHL 23 and skip future iterations until they bring Hybrid back.

With how the cross play is setup & the overall hype for 24 already.. I can say you will 100% be playing this game by yourself.. Online for 23 will be non-existent.

Bro, I've been playing NHL since NHL94 and I can tell you I played my whole life using the plus button (up, down, left, right) and the x, o, triangle, square. That's how the game was played. And then all of a sudden in the 2000's new gen was born that adding the ability to deke and skate using the right analog and left analog. I literally thought it was the end of the world that I had to retrain myself and my muscle memory of over 10 years, but you know what? After I finally got adjusted to the skill stick controls, I realized it was so much better. Go ahead and sit out NHL24 and then NHL25, NHL26, and so on. Or you can just bite the bullet and make the switch. Either way just know that from my 30 years experience of playing this game the game moves forward, not backwards.
You could also buy one of those controllers that allows you to map the buttons the way you want. That might help.
What previous game do you think 24 compares the closest to?
NHL O' six or O' five.
It gave me more like an old school NHL feeling. NHL 12-14 or lowkey 18 probably the closest. But I wouldn't compare it to any.

Yeah this makes me the most sad I loved using skating to get around guys, they should make it an X factor so guys like barzal can use L-2 / L-2 + X movement

for me LT was always a Skill Gap.
@@devinprizmic Barzal does nothing similar to what the LT user's do inside the game. It's why EA is eliminating that kind of cheesey style of play, nothing about it resembled hockey.. Learn to use you speed button as a power up
LT was broken and unrealistic. Removing it was long overdue.
Soon, find out. I hated the glitch goals. You could be 3 goals up and dominating, then get caught out with some glitch goals, usually on crossplay, and I play xbox and playstation users seamed to have the edge.
I think the pressure system might be a bit too Op and less upsets in games. Hopefully next NHL they will fix franchise. 🙏

I like the gameplay changes, HUT is fun for few moths but its BS that Franchise and BAP modes are untouched. Hopefully some entity bans microtransactions so EA won't only focus on HUT and making $$$

Wrong. Hockey community made irrational subjective opinions of what they like/hate every year... EA decided to go realistic with presentation and followed suit... It's like being upset when they changed the one touch ice rule to a no touch icing call... EA still decided to add that into the game..

I've been playing hybrid for over 10 years and have been top 100 when I was a teenager and now div 1 every year since I'm an adult and have less time, I don't want to learn skill stick

Alot of the LT was created because the poke check is way too good hopefully they nerf poke check or offense is gpnna be a pain

Poke and stick check is a weak weapon since nhl 15. Twists and turns, abusing LT/L2 to draw penalty is BS.
If you LT at the same time of a Poke check, it should be an embelishment call.
From my understanding, checks will be 'charged' like a shot (flick for a wrist/light bump to a pull-back and up for slap/crushing hit). The Poke should be the same - up - light, low risk, low reward, if it gets the puck off but too far. A wind up poke has more chance of pushing the puck far, but also to knock the skates from under the carrier.
poke checks are the default way to check a player. it is incredibly hard to carry a puck through traffic without getting sticks all over you and losing the puck. getting tripped by a poke check is also pretty rare. most trips are from a desperate attempt to poke check from a bad position or incidental when you're in the corner or something and someone skates over your stick while it's tangled up.
Poke checking should be option 1, stick lift or light bumps/body contact option 2, and big hits option 3

L2 in the previous games was so NOT hockey. What player can come from a dead stop behind the net skate backwards and pivot and score a goal. Give me a break. so glad L2 is gone!

The button mapping is complete bullshit. Can you filter out ranked games so you only play against people that are pure analog with the skill sticks?
100% it was a tool to give to the crappy passer's of the game. The real community stopped talking about adding it since like 2017 or 18. The NHL passing mechanics could never fly in any other games like Madden.. Way to much skill is needed to correct your aims. It's useless for the die hard NHL fans imo.
@@philippebien5429 Yeah I'm with you, I just wanted to know if we have to play these people or if they're going to have match-making UI options that allow us to filter out the mapped scrubs? You know they're going to spend the entire game trying to abuse the glitchiest mechanics over and over again. I'm glad you mentioned Madden because that's the LAST thing any of us should want NHL to end up like.

so now that L2 is gone that‘s hopefully also Eki‘s career gone…or at least now all the streamers, tryhard L2 lords and esports players, which alltogether ruined the game, have to turn to more realistic hockey
😂😂 let me tell you the best "esport players" know how to play whatever type of hockey it's needed to compete. I personally play however it's needed to win games and adapt when needed. L2 or any of the other mechanical stuff is something I've never been the best at compared to some players. Passing and IQ has always been my biggest strenght so from competitive standpoint I love the changes. You’ll see 😘

I don't know a lot about HUT. HUT moments is at least a new game mode, so you can recreate IRL NHL moments in HUT for rewards etc.
New objectives Where you need to do specific stuff with specific player(or something like that), live stat/objective tracking in game or that’s at least what I understood from Thrash’s video
Just need to wait for the hut deep dive when it comes out
