It’s tempting to get Zultan cymbals cause they sound good for how cheap they are. I just see so many comments saying they break/crack easily. Can anyone confirm this?
I wasn’t being light with them by any means. I would need to use them more heavily to make that judgement. The one things i will say is any cymbal treated badly will break eventually. Playing them in the recording of this video, I was actually impressed by them and would trust them live. For how long is something I couldn’t answer without using them a lot.
Hi! I’ve been using the Zultan Dark Matter cymbals (alongside with some Sabians) for years now, and I can confirm, that they almost always break within less than a year. I always use proper technique, and don’t hit them that hard. I’ve also been using my Sabians for way longer than the Zultans, and I never cracked one of those. I don’t know what’s with the Dark Matter series of cymbals, but they seem to be more brittle or somehow poorly made😕 The only reason I keep using them, is because Thomann always replaces them with new ones without a word when I send the cracked ones back🥁🦔
@@KPKDrumsMy theory is Zultan makes dirt cheap good sounding cymbals but at a compromise. Their manufacturing and finishing process isn’t exactly up to par with the big name brands. But the trade off is that you’re not spending 3 months rent on decent cymbals.
@ Yes! Exactly. I never cracked the Dark Matter Hats or the Ride, but always the crashes. The China from this cymbal line didn’t crack either, although I only used that one for ~4-5 months. I suspect that It would’ve broke if I used it for longer, same as the crashes, because if my memory serves me correctly, it was the same thickness as those (they’re quite thick). In my experience thinner crashes, chinas, hats, and splashes live much longer than thick ones (because they have more flex to them, thus being less brittle). All my Sabian chinas and hats are quite thin, and never even one of them cracked (I’ve been using them for years now). My splash is also from the Zultan Dark Matter series, which is my oldest cymbal of all (~5-6 years), and it also never cracked, likely because it’s very thin, too. I’ll add that I have the opposite experience with ride cymbals; the thin ones are usually those that break, and the thicker ones last. I think it’s because you hit them differently, you play different parts of them than the other cymbals🥁🦔
Love the review videos and love the content, keep it up Jason 🤙🏻

@KPKDrums i cracked both my crashes but my ride and hats are still going strong. is that also your experience?

The "markings" look a lot like some Groove Juice cleaner that wasn't properly dried off to me
Nope silver is B12
