I think UMG should’ve stayed with Universal Pictures via NBCUniversal. Imagine if they were to be renamed “NBCUniversal Music Group”.

So many good points! The capital and connections a major label can provide are unmatched. Even recently UMG managed to influence these huge streaming platforms to set thresholds on play count to push out independent artists out of the market share on recording revenue. It's kinda nasty but at the same time no one can beat them due to their size.

If you’re going to tell the story be fair and tell it as it was compared to now from physical to digital. You actually had more control of your money and profits with physical music, streaming solved nothing it just made it very difficult for artist to start seeing some money on their albums, Prince actually tells the real and more accurate truths about going from physical music to digital music, digital wouldn’t be so bad if the industry didn’t have so much control, like before when artist put out an album for $13, and sold 500 million records the artist would get maybe at least 40% share of each record sold of that 500 million albums sold, so please don’t sugar coat the story and the history please, digital is not because nobody even had a choice to either continue selling physical music opposed to digital because you just didn’t give us a choice, who making the rules on how to pay artist and record companies for there products, talk about the actual breakdown of how many streams would equal a sale, people don’t won’t you to have this much control non less have a choice to deal with you, it’s like how the Mobs and the gangsters force you into business to create music/content or continue to struggle and not make any money at all, because you have this product you get to make the rules and break or change the rules. Trust me I’m not a hater and I get it, I get the new product vs the new I just wish there were more opportunities for people like myself as a manager and the many talented kids and musicians I see all the time, to the people at UMG Universal Music Group.

I honestly don’t see this format lasting long! It’s not sustainable! All they have to do is erase the internet.
