I have no interest in making liquid dnb, but there's a lot of good information here for mixing for drums in general that I'm definitely gonna come back to later. You've got a knack for teaching!
I know this was about drums, but your kind of jazzy note choices in _the melody_ inspired me to see more possibilities in what DnB is, and what I could produce. Thanks all around.
0:20 Excuse me, Liquicity is an awesome drum & bass label from the Netherlands. It's been a label since 2013 and was started on youtube in 2008. There's a yearly Liquicity Festival now. They've released Reflections, remixes of songs released in the first ten years, in 4 parts in 2019. How that exactly works out, well, between the youtube and label... Anyhow, it's not just the UK. Heck, Pendulum is originally from Australia. But I'm proud to say that I love that we Dutch also make drum & bass
I've made metal and symphonic shit for years and have started to get interested in 80's and liquid dnb. Your channel is spot on. Especially the 80s chord thing was stellar.
This is awesome. I'm mostly a prog-metal/chiptune musician so I don't have a lot of experience with proper electronic composition. I played that game Neon White and loved the DnB soundtrack so I've been trying to figure out how to write those kind of drums so this has been a boon.
ah yes amazing thorough tutorial i can learn from ! 1 1/2 hours later .. *realizes i just recreated the entire drum track of this is jungle sky, vol 6 - disc 2 - track 1 -dj yellow note -"happily" verbatim....again from memory.
@@ElianaDAngelo hahahaha 😂 That's spot on ! except for the aayyeee , that's a Queensland embellishment , your teacher is obviously a banana bender / came toad , I'm a New South Waleshman pie eating / cockroach Imitation is the greatest form of flattery , but can you get the accent right without sounding cockney ? I always find it so difficult to create DnB Drum Patterns. The Hi Hat Section in particular presents me with problems. So thank you for this video - and for bringing up let's say rather unusual genre,
Get addicitve drums 2, it will open your eyes on many levels. try to reproduce famous beat, you will realize that there is a lot less to do that you might think
Yes you have nailed the authentic sound, great work! Guess the whole Dubstep era updated the US to UK dance music. Back in the day when I was going to raves in London - the US was lagging well behind and seemed to use a lot more trance type sounds. That said I think the US dance culture at raves and festivals is much better as aesthetically its more of the psychadelic tip.
I need that t-shirt! I'd see that track fit we in the catalogue of the british Hospital Recordings or the Brazilian Innergrounds Recordings. I don't have any relation with them though
Inspiring tutorial Eliana👍 but as a beginner (I have a Elektron Model:Cycles) I was really hoping to learn from this video how to make this Liquid DnB drum pattern (which I really didn’t learn in this video). This was more mixing/producing at an advanced level. Could you please sometimes make just basic and slow paced tutorials?
Thanks. I wanted to go more into detail on the arrangement of the drums but it was originally a part of a larger video. Was exhausted after filming 4 hours straight.
I missed another video release because it's not being advertised in the Discord server! Edit - And the server isn't advertised in this video's description!
Thanks for this tutorial, I really like your color scheme in Bitwig. Especially for the drums, can you maybe tell me what theme you used? Lovely wishes
This was my favorite video all week. The finished tune is BIG. Have you released any DNB? I would definitely have played this back when I was still gigging.
@@ElianaDAngelo you missed my point, your intro states that "hey we also do good dnb in usa, i know it is hard to admit..etc etc ", ....well it isn't. Since the beginning of dnb, it isn't new "yanks" doing great dnb and it isn't news for people into dnb, except if they are to young , i found it weird you said that.since you are a dnb producer, i would have expected you knew about USA dnb history....and gridlok, or diesel boy are not some producer btw. they are like miles davis in jazz for comparaison
@@rd-cv4vm how you typed "US" made me think of the word 'us' as in we. I read it as another Brit hating on US dnb people. Had many a git talk his gob off about yabks being bad at dnb innit
@@ElianaDAngelo noooooooo of course not :), Pardon me my bad english. If they think like that they most probably are uncultivated in dnb, how ironic, isn''t it?, especially when you know how much respect the actual dnb artist/producer have for the like of diesel boy, gridlok, keaton, hive....let the idiots talk and keep doing your thing. It is my bad, i didn't spot the sarcasm in your video. peace!!
Your drums were cool and so was the explanation but it was off, all you need is Think and other breaks and an Akai S1000, this is where the UK will always rules and the Yanks just won't get it.

Thanks m9
Straight to points like your style.
You’re fucking hilarious hahaha! So dry and deadpan, but genuine!
i appreciate ya making a video without telling us how bad we are or making outlandish claims.
great video. i became a smarter person after watching. really good guide on the drums
swear to God the newjeans producer listened to this video and then produced the whole EP. this is the whole super shy, e.t.a., etc.
the chord progression in this is insane, you should break that down too
I kinda covered it in the rest but its just too much. Had to simplify the concept sadly. :(
This is the best production channel on UA-cam, hands down
I love how you started this off! I make DNB in California! 🤘🏽😜
Excellent tutorial on liquid dnb drums. USA has earned its dnb stripes!
I know this was about drums, but your kind of jazzy note choices in _the melody_ inspired me to see more possibilities in what DnB is, and what I could produce. Thanks all around.
The high tuning in DnB also helps to give room for the sub bass to roll under the drums nicely 👍
