Hybrid Breaks is my best sample of breaks so far
Hopefully next will be a 90s Jungle masterclass 👀
second this
Please 🙏
How about hardcore
@@dickjohnsonsixtyninehe did a series on producing jungle, and happy hardcore, are you looking for OG hardcore, is that what you mean?
EDIT: I say OG far too often these days, I mean original hardcore, forming after acid house and developed in the "rave" era?
@@RaverOperatorGeeza I’m talking about the crossover period after rave and pre jungle that eventually ended in the “split” between “happy hardcore” and “jungle”. Prior to that it was all “hardcore” although you could hear the strong influence of “jungle” coming through but it was still “hardcore”There was a strong hip hop influence with lots of scratching and manipulation of the breakbeats. Tracks like sl2 “drumbeats”, “darkage” by dj solo and anything on the “production house” label, “re-baptised by dub” by the criminal minds is a classic example. D livin “why”, early prodigy tracks of their “experience” album, dance ritual “off the ground”, dry and roasted “it’s like a dream”, Roni size “music box”, Dj dextrous. Basically anything before the “happy hardcore” takeover.
Some real technical shit was going on and it would create those “hyper vibes”. I don’t think there will ever be a style that will ever reach that level again
Hardcore will never die
Big up all Junglists
Amen
Been spending the last month in Thailand. DnB is quite popular here! Quite refreshing to walk by a restaurant in the middle of the afternoon with DnB playing on the speakers haha! Big up!
That's insane, hoping to visit thailand soon
Been watching your stuff and you seem to have this implicit understanding that art is a series of choices and I really appreciate that. Sometimes you just want somebody to list the artistic choices out for you, in order, because so often the confusion when getting into a new genre or artform is not even knowing what those choices are or how to approach the order of operations. You seem to understand this core confusion in beginners well. I appreciate it a lot.
That’s a really cool observation thanks !
FINALLY the almost perfect tutorial for DNB, thanks!
30:21 Woah! Looking really forward to that pack! The first gnarly volume is incredible!!
Hold tight, I'm working on it
For Drum and Bass, I think the only rule with regard to the placement of the kick drum is, if the kick drum is on the first beat of the bar, then it should not also occur on beat three of the same bar if that bar is going to be repeated. The reason is that at around 174 bpm the rhythm fails to get off the ground if both the one and the three are there.
3 and
I randomly found this video (taking this as a sign), which was exactly what I had been look for for more than a month on how to make DnB, when I woke up in the middle of the night to get water🤣 (3rd Comment🏆)
Love it when that happens, I'm your dnb genie.
Awesome!! Fyi, STRANJAH also has excellent sample packs! Highly recommend!
Absolutely brilliant video for a DNB beginner!
11:45 this is exactly what I keep telling the wife! Go figure it could be applied here too!
You have to keep things exciting or the passion will die
Always a pleasure spending quality time on Stranjah’s channel learning the intricacies of Jungle and DnB
That's my goal, not just some general ish, but the details that set apart the pros
junglist massive shout out the 168.19 bpm crew :-p [great vid, great guy]
Let's go vinyl days when you didn't know what bpm it was
My man just gave away all of the secrets. I wish artists in more music genres used more of these techniques, some do use them in hiphop, triphop, dubstep.
If you want weird sounding break beats, move those main snares every other bar. Add some snare/tom fills bars at the end of a section.
Thank you so much for these tutorials bruv. Came across a track of yours in my box, Drum and bass Arena 2 20/46 🧨. Thank you so much.
That's an oldie, 20 years ago. Grooverider and Andy C were rinsing that one
I really love that Hybrid Breaks pack. Such a unique blend of loops, that you will never find anywhere else. Being that these are Live drummed and not from other sources, definitely adds some depth and authenticity to your tracks. They are really tightly played and handle processing so well. Definitely a pack worth getting.
He's a great drummer, and a wicked offering you can't get anywhere else
Now we need one for different DnB basses!
Great video for beginners bro, wish I had someone like you giving this priceless information out about when I started years ago. big ups STRANJAH
Thanks for the awesome vid! All my edm as a whole has gotten better because of you! Was wondering where you’ve been lol
I have been producing my own music for awhile, but now that I’m at a confident level of arrangement/writing, I’ve developed some significant hearing loss - do you think sending my stems to a mixing/mastering person would still get a professional result or am i best off renting studio time to go compose with an in house engineer?
Either works based on your preferences. Take care of your hearing and look into therapy to soothe it. Stem mixing is good if you can find someone you trust
Thank you icon
Thank you Stranjah, this is a nice compliment to your Skillshare breaks class!
Hi Stranja, I’ve been following you for quite some years and all your vids are clear and very informative. Thank you 👌
Glad you like them!
Love these Videos. Keep them coming! Great to chill and get inspiration of.
I will do my best - focusing on quality over quantity this year
Priceless tips! Thanks bro
Very usefull one !! Thx 🔥
awesome video🎉
Awesome tutorial Stranjah! This helped a lot. Thank you.
Just what I was after. Nice on stranjah! 👍🏻

YOu're a legend!

Thank you for your always helpful videos
I am grateful.🙏

Thank you very much❤
couldnt catch free packs, hoprfully you will put here again, thanks for all tips!
well done, hands down the cleanest and best tutorials on dnb one can find.
is it possible that you make a chapter 2 about processing/eqing/mixing ?
Brilliant 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯👍🏾
TeeBee, Klute, and Future Prophecies is who I started jamming many moons ago.
good job bro
awesome as always my man, gotta ask, pitching drums, been a thing all over, pitch your kick to match the key of your bass, is that fully neccessary or can you you get away with just rolling on with any drum, kick snare etc
Appreciate you Stranjah ❤🔥
Amazing Beats Music
Big Ups STRANJAH 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
thank you
очень полезное видео, спасибо!!!
stranjah bro, you think its possible you make a tutorial for jump up dnb intros ?
i dunno why but i have biggest problems creating intros
Yo - nice vid. I’m interested in buying some of your packs from your website. I tried to sign up to the newsletter but get to reply and nothing in junk so it’s making me concerned about attempting a purchase. There’s no support email on the site to reach out to unless I missed something? Thanks for all the videos
Do you prefer to use standalone samples when building drums rather than building a drumkit within Ableton?
Where can I find the loop from 19:22?
🙏👍
I still thinking about ghost note about syncopation - when we play ghost notes offbeat we cant tell about this syncopation? Who can help me? :D
great vid leaving a comment for engagement ❤
You're the best!
6dB of make up and then -6dB output?
can dnb be 95 bpm?
Yeah but you’ll have to program the beats in double time
You have done it for WHAT? 28 years? How old are you then, you look 28
I dont understand why you dont use the drum rack ...lol
he explained it at the beginning of the vid m8 xd
@@phr3q realLy? o_O
youtube dnb is so trash...
Make some drum patterns compilations for funky, fast and powerful, and other types of DnB drums and their patterns, i think that would be interesting, i need more speed and power feeling in my tracks 💪
