Dorothy: You're a yankee blanche. Blanche: what no. this cant be. Dorothy: A yankee doodle. hahahahah! And dorothy's face when she says it is priceless.
Even before Dorothy said Roy Orbison, I was thinking to myself how she looked like Roy Orbison with those glasses! I can't stop dying watching that part! 😂😂😂
Dorothy is just so effortlessly amusing, winding Blanche up with her Southern obsession. I love her pauses and expressions. She's so assured and a very natural performer, like she IS Dorothy. There's no one really like her, I can't get enough, I need her on drip feed intravenously. Yes I'm in love with Dorothy!😘
Djarra I watch stuff like this all the time, know people from Sinatra and Astaire, to Presley, to Earth wind and fire, to ABBA, to Bobby Caldwell, to O-Zone and i still didnt know Roy, sorry mate
@@CuroxX Have you ever seen 'Blue Velvet' the song 'In Dreams' Dean Stockwell mimes is Orbison. He was a contemporary of Elvis' at Sun but preferred to do ballads.
@@Djarra really?? What's wrong with that? I'm sure you didn't know Roy Orbinson at one time. People learn. There's nothing wrong with that. Not everyone is perfect like you
These modern viewers are annoying with their continuity crap! It wasn't really a thing back then. There was no internet or shows on VHS to dissect every scene to death. You just took the storylines and jokes as they came, weekly. Relive them on reruns. You know how they say that if you explain a joke, it's not funny anymore? The same thing applies here. Stop scrutinizing everything to death!
I miss the times like this were we can make fun of our differences and still remain friends. Now a days I doubt that a sitcom like this could ever get aired
Literally every sitcom today does this. Only difference is they don’t take cheap shots at a person’s race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity. They focus on personality quirks
KAAAAAHAHAHAHA it’s like when I did my DNA test to find out what I am. My family was floored when I said “We weren’t from Spain! We were Irish, English, Scandinavian, German, and INDIGENOUS AMERICAN… we’re a family of mutts.” 😂
what made me laugh is when Dorothy told Blanche that her grandmother was from Buffalo and that she's a Yankee a Yankee Doodle and Jewish." you are that Yankee Doodle gal."
Very interesting how Blanche said that she can't be Jewish, but Sophia mentioned quoted, "I'll be damned, the black guy is prejudice." Interesting fact here is that Estelle Getty is Jewish.
that referance to fiddler on the roof was great coming from dorothy since she was in the orginal cast.
+Troy What was the reference?
@@PintheDog The Deedle Deedle Dum bit from the song 'If I were a rich man' from that musical.
@@Djarra Well, that makes more sense, seeing as how _Fiddler on the Roof_ was also a Jewish musical.😋
Ha! I've never seen fiddler on the roof, so I didn't get the reference 🤣
@@gabrielpatten6939 It's good. Watch the one with Topol in.
I love how Dorothy emphasizes “Buffalo!” Just to rub it in Blanche’s face LMAO 😂
Well .. one of northern most cities in the country. Next stop, Canada !
Remember that Dorothy herself is a New Yorker.
She had the best lines
@@saberiandream316Dorothy ended up becoming Blanche 's step aunt.
@@1thetvzone My point being naturally she'd be offended at Blanche's discriminatory attitude.

A Yankee Doodle Dandy
That "deedle didle deedle dum" comeback from Dorothy was great! XD
She is great !!!
I never understood the "deedle didle deedle dum" reference. Could someone please explain what that's from? Thanks!
@@mysticwolf75 It's from the musical _Fiddler on the Roof,_ which is about Jewish people. Bea Arthur was in the original Broadway production.

The Roy Orbison and fiddler bits killed me 😂
Love the Roy Orbison joke. It is a little sad too because he died three years prior to this episode in 1988
Even before Dorothy said Roy Orbison, I was thinking to myself how she looked like Roy Orbison with those glasses! I can't stop dying watching that part! 😂😂😂
Me too😂😂😂
If I remember correctly, in the episode "Bringing Up Baby", Sophia gets black framed glasses and mentions looking like Buddy Holly.

Estelle Getty is the best when it comes to comedic performance 😂
It's weird to look at Bea and Rue together and realize at one time they were Maude and Vivian.
Very true. They were great on that show, too!😁
Bea looked nothing like Maude here..Bea became so glam after Maude.
Rue was on Mama's Family as Aunt Fran

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Golden Girls is one of the funniest shows of all time.
If this was made today: "Ladies and gentlemen, Stevie Wonder."
It wouldn't work, because Sophia doesn't look like Stevie Wonder with those sunglasses.
In Germany TV it's "Ladies and Gentlemen, Ray Charles"
@@rieslingsemillon7565 Kind of surprising as Orbison was a big star in Germany, plus his second wife was German and he had a home there.
