I have heard other actors; including the great Sir Richard Burton read this. Sir Richard's performance is demoted to a very amateur one compared with this. Benedict Cumberbatch has the perfect voice for this. Wonderful interpretation and such great emotion. I am sure John Keats is listening to this and smiling with great satisfaction. Never tire of listening to this.
+Bloody Mary Báthory Oh my goodness!!!! I never thought I would actually fall for any other readings of the ode after listening to Ben Wishaws for some time now! But Benedict Cumberbatch did an amazing read of it. Thanks for it :) I appreciate sharing this video with us. :)
A mistake in the first line. Absolutely pathetic and full of the disrespect for poetry that comes from the big Egos of public school educated British actors.
You're absolutely right about the music, of course. Not only that, but Cumberbatch actually makes some shockingly amateurish mistakes in his reading (turning "delved" into one syllable and "poesy" into two) that totally messes up Keat's meter. It's almost like he put no effort into the reading at all but just thought his charisma and posh accent would carry him through. But there are plenty of recordings out there without the music and the mistakes.

Just beautiful a masterpiece of English literature ❤
(2.26): Away! away! for I will fly to thee,
Not charioted by Bacchus and his pards,
But on the viewless wings of Poesy,
Thank you!!
It´s a pleasure!
I get lost whenever I listen to it............
Estupendo. Pero apenas pueden leerse lo versos, de tan rápidos que pasan.
Oh dear sweet mother of god! Yes!!!
Can someone make this on a loop for 10h please?
I must say I prefer Wishaw's reading...such a shame there is no version without music in the background
No ,this is so wonderfully made with this amazing voice and the music in background !

@@davidfiore6237 Well said. This reading is a lazy facile sentimental disgrace by a pompous public schoolboy actoor.
