I was lucky enough to do personal security for Chrissie while she was in Adelaide in 2010. I escorted her around within the hotel. Beautiful person with so much class xo
Chrissy Amphlett said all she ever wanted to be was a rockstar - everything else came second - she documented her extraordinary life in a book called 'Pleasure and Pain' which of course was titled after this song became a hit! It was explosive - this song really epitomizes the turbulent and troubled life of this amazingly talented woman - sadly an alcohol and drug fuelled existence to numb the pain of many inner demons, including how she felt about herself. Her relationship with band member Mark McEntee was a a fiery relationship. I t was later stated by their manager that the nature of their 'weird' relationship was the 'magic' of divinyls. Chrissy survived breast cancer - only to be afflicted later in life with MS. When the breast cancer came back she was unable to have chemo because of her MS and died - so sad! RIP Chrissy hope you have found peace sweet lady!
Classical Jams - Passionate Piano Things are not always how they appear - everyone has a story - just before she died she posted an incredible message on facebook - despite all of her struggles she achieved so much - she was so brave - such an inspiration!
She's an Aussie Music legend and a few hangovers while enjoying her music... She was still a young person, yet something gives if the body can't heal the health damage... Just too too sad. Even at 53 she STILL looked much younger :( R.I.P. Sweet Chrissy ♥
Hannah!!! I am gonna have to check out Rake. Those Aussies sure know how to do it down under! (No, pun intended, lol). Wentworth is my show! And Danielle Cormack has got it going on for sure!
As a former Professional Stagehand I had the honor and "Pleasure" of working with hundreds of Artists in the South Eastern United States. I never worked a Divinyls gig, but my co-workers that did told me that they were first rate musicians and fun to work with. I saw a recording of them from 1986 live at the Ritz, and YES, they were First Rate indeed with a great sound. R.I.P. Chrissy Amphlett. There is a Greek in South Carolina who regrets your passing.......
I was lucky enough to see Divinyls live three times...Amphlett was brilliant every time - I can't think of anyone else that has such stage prescence....she knew how to work a crowd. An awesome performer who has left us too soon. RIP Chrissy - gone but never forgotten!
THE LYRICS: Lover Lover, Why do you push Why do you push, why do you push Baby baby, did you forget about me? I've been standing at the back of your life, Back row center just above the ice, Please don't ask me how I've been getting off, No please don't ask me how I've been getting off Break my body with the back of your hand, Doesn't make sense from where I stand, Baby, baby why you wanna mess it up, Sooner or later I'll find my place, Find my body better fix my face, Please don't ask me, How I've been getting off, No please don't ask me How I've been getting off It's a fine line between pleasure and pain You've done it once you can do it again Whatever you've done don't try to explain It's a fine, fine line between pleasure and pain.... It's all the same It's all the same It's all the same
listened to this on Wentworth a few weeks ago. Funny enough I was thinking of Pat Bennatar, for a few weeks there. before searching. I remember 'I touch myself' song, by Divinyls. But not anything earlier.
The first time I heard this song, and indeed everytime I hear ANY Divinyl song, I was electrified. There was something so utterly unique about their music and videos that one was mesmerized. Back in the day, their music was tough to come by in the US and about the only way you could hear them was to catch them on MTV or on progressive radio stations like WHFS in Annapolis, MD. All I can say is, whenever I hear them I am magically transformed into a 22 year old, complete with baggy jump pants, sleeveless shirt and leather jacket (and that's damn hard to do when you're a 54 year old accountant!).
CaesarInVa I was a teenager when they came out and once I saw this video I wanted to be Chrissy Amphlett. I thought it was so intriguing that she was almost completely covered up but had the garter belt & stockings and would lift them up to tease, plus her hair and pout, her voice was everything. I was obsessed with their music and the only girl in my school who was but I still jam these tunes and dance around to this day. You're never to old. :)
this is one awsome song, great lyrics and beat.she really gets real, and gets right too the point on what shes been threw. love this song could here it over and over.
God takes the good early? Lee Harvey Oswald? The terrorists that flew the planes into the World Trade Center? Numerous serial killers that were executed while still young? Adolph Hitler? Timothy McVey? And thousands of other evil people who murdered others and then killed themselves. All those were good people? Wow, you are some kind of lunatic.
@@banishedfromthedwarfplanet530 I have to say a lot of these religious comments often come from habit. Bit like saying thank god. I am agnostic but due to being raised with one parent that was Christian and generalized society i would find myself saying that. I don't these days. But like i stopped filling in gaps with umm or hmmm. When talking. But i really don't understand the logic of the good die early. How the hell is a society supposed to learn good ways if the only ones living on are nasty pieces of shit. haha. Does not seem logical at all.
Chrissy was never particularly fond of making videos. In her book ''Pleasure and Pain'' she describes this video as being 'so over the the top' and was never able to watch it. She found the process of making a video tedious and lacked the 'spontaneity' of live performance. This was shot in 35mm at the Balmain Power Station in Sydney and directed by Philippe Mora. Chrissy said she cried the first time she sang these lyrics, adding...''That title says a lot about my life''. Fred Harden shot some interesting video detailing some of the production process and is available on youtube...Pleasure and Pain (1985) Making of the Pop Clip. ''Pleasure and Pain'' is available as an e-book from Google and the first 4 chapters are currently free to sample.
Great talent . I often think of this song and even used to sing it internally when I had a great mental or physical challenge. It’s true, there is Avery fine line sometimes.😬
She was a great singer and actress for the videos. I don't know waht else to say. medical background...so I understand, but she was very good. I was sad when I heard she passed.
Thanks Chrisy Hard Ass Aussie Rock Chicka Sound like my sis who passed Gravel Vocas Luv Still Kicking Ass Hope Ur Getting Better... The Brother Lplter Garry.
I believe that good people sometimes do die to soon, This world is not good enough for them a world filled with sorrow, death, and pain. they are to pure and good
:( I ask myself the same fucking question everyday, life is not fair at all, my best friend, soulmate better said, died terribly, he was an awesome person, good, and people who are very shitty live until they are old and die peacefully. Chrissy Amphlett is one of my inspirations in life, and she died young...not fair, like many others...
There´s a fine line between pleasure and pain just as well as there is a thin line between love and hate. Pretenders and Divinyls came from the same circumstances?
One of the most powerful but so fragile. She is a worthy of being part of music history forever.
I was lucky enough to do personal security for Chrissie while she was in Adelaide in 2010. I escorted her around within the hotel. Beautiful person with so much class xo
Right on m8

Alx Pantoja I watched her being interviewed and she seemed very nice - her mum and sister were in the audience :))

first heard this on Wentworth and Rake (Both are Aussie shows, and star Danielle Cormack) - obviously great taste in both music and actors.

THE LYRICS:
Lover Lover, Why do you push
Why do you push, why do you push
Baby baby, did you forget about me?
I've been standing at the back of your life,
Back row center just above the ice,
Please don't ask me how I've been getting off,
No please don't ask me how I've been getting off
Break my body with the back of your hand,
Doesn't make sense from where I stand,
Baby, baby why you wanna mess it up,
Sooner or later I'll find my place,
Find my body better fix my face,
Please don't ask me,
How I've been getting off,
No please don't ask me
How I've been getting off
It's a fine line between pleasure and pain
You've done it once you can do it again
Whatever you've done don't try to explain
It's a fine, fine line between pleasure and pain....
It's all the same
It's all the same
It's all the same
I felt everything she sang in my heart she was a beautiful woman and now she's God's beautiful angel.
Me & my sis would go crazy over this song ❤️

R.I.P Chrissy
why is it that some one has a hard life is gone but the one you see that should be gone live on
:( I ask myself the same fucking question everyday, life is not fair at all, my best friend, soulmate better said, died terribly, he was an awesome person, good, and people who are very shitty live until they are old and die peacefully. 2019🖤
RIP what a sad day for the Aussie music scene
RIP CHRISSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
R.I.P
Go Chrissy
This lady is dam right. I'll have to do it.
This song is not about sex but about a woman being abused by her lover.
Duh.
There's a fine line.
Who's here because of Wentworth 2024?? Yesssssaaaaa
There´s a fine line between pleasure and pain just as well as there is a thin line between love and hate. Pretenders and Divinyls came from the same circumstances?
With that bassline this is begging for a reggae halftime version.
FRANKY AND BRIDGET!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
This song was on wentworth when Vera found out about franky and Bridget
