I think this episode was less a sleeper episode and more a setting up the board for the final episodes. Similar to what GoT's would do. I think it's a matter of getting characters in their spots for the final act. While boring, important to know that leah's at the Priors place, that Danvers is by herself, Navarro is basically a hollowed out human, danvers boss is still there. Etc.
We might of not had movement in the main story, but we have a lot of character moments. Meaning building more time to care about them. Navarro had the biggest arc here, because she drops off her sister and comes home to the toothpaste, dinner with rose and has probably a rare good night before all the shit went down. Almost felt like a final meal with Rose, being how fancy it was. Anyway, literally everything that could go wrong did go wrong leaving her in a very vulnerable way, she's completely disconnected and probably will get worse next episode. Cause I think Quavik will be killed by his dogs. In the first episode we hear him say something like "these dogs will be the death of me," and Navarro left the spiral stone at his place. Given how much bad mojo follows that symbol around, I can't imagine it'll end well for Mr. Dog man. I think a big theme with Navaro's character is struggling to find identity. She doesn't have a name in her culture, her family's gone, her job she was a proud of was taken away. She has no real tether to the world anymore and the only thing that's calling her is her visions. I also see a lot of criticism that Navarro's a stiff character and I have to wonder, given her lack of identity, that kinda makes sense.
Also, gonna make a tinfoil call here, I wonder if Peter is involved in the killings some how. He's struggles a lot with his abusive father legacy, but also juggling his identity as a husband, dad and superstar freshman. The show runner said that the killer is front and centre and while loads of people are pointing at navarro, I low key wonder if her mental health spiral is a red herring.
Really well done! You’re right about seeing where everyone is and their state of mind.
Also it seems like the 2 main cops have constantly forgotten the case they’re actually meant to be on. The scientists are meant to be the main focus.
It seems more the Annie K case than the corpsicle case.
i started watching this show from this season, are they all like that? mistique and spooky? it should have been release on Halloween👹
Oh no…you messed up so hard. Lol.
Season one is legendary.
Season 2 is ok.
Season 3 is pretty good.
This season wasn’t even supposed to be a part of this franchise, but HBO had it reskinned as True Detective.
Long story short, no, not all seasons are anything like this.
Go watch season 1, I promise you won’t regret it.
I believe hanks mail order Russian Bride will be Navarro's alter ego. Its her way to keep tabs on Hank and she probably plans on killing him at some point for whatever he did and so thats how shes kept tabs on him.
The dog at the camp definitely had a reaction to the spiral symbol stone... Navarro also had a definite reaction to the spiral stone.... The locals are definitely more connected to the symbol is that why it fix them definitely🤷🏾♀️🤔
This episode was extremely depressing my god I Just wanted to eat some food watch a good show. Shit had me crying very depressing episode
This show stinks
Ima be honest - this episode was a sleeper.
Gonna need next week to redeem this one.
Eh this whole season is a sleeper not impressed so far
As Otis says, we're all in night country now...an episode to focus on the cops' inner turmoil vs duty, with a big plot move at the end - Jodie channeling Starling searching alone for suspect in creepy rooms
It was a filler episode, and there only 6 episodes. Let's just call it Night Country. It's not True Detective. It's some half-baked effort to repurpose some other project into the True Detective anthrology while, it seems, undercutting the anthology format at the same time. It's boring and doesn't deserve the name of True Detective.
I think Liz is always hearing screaming due to PTSD, which is why she needs to listen to white noise whenever she’s alone, to drown it out.
I’d been waiting on this for months and it’s not giving 😢
:(
Yeah...it certainly isn't living up to the hype.
Congrats on 5k sir
Appreciate you!
The killer is that animal blundetto
I feel like with every episode there's moments where I go oh they're on to something and then it goes nowhere. It's stuck in the mud. 4 episodes in, it can't be redeemed for me. I'll see it to the end, but it just doesn't work. The actress playing Navarro is so stiff during emotional scenes.
It’s rough and my biggest fear is that they’re not going to tie up the near countless loose ends they’ve opened up to this point
I agree with you. This series reminds me of Sharp Objects. Amy Addams spent the entire series drinking, crying, driving around in the car and nothing happened. One of the biggest wastes of time I've had in my life.
Agree! I was so excited for this season, but I wish they had 8 episodes instead of 6. I'm afraid they're going to give a Game of Thrones rushed ending
@@farlessouza4364 Oh wow I absolutely agree about Sharp Objects and I always find myself alone in that. The worst part is the book was so good. I expected so much more.
@@margueritekreitsek4530 I heard the finale crams in a lot and I feel the frustration already. The thing is it could've been 6 with a satisfying ending and good pacing if it was edited better. Maybe when it's over I'll feel different but there seems to be a lot of unnecessary scenes dragging things down and that's crazy in such a short season.
SO..we've just got more questions..Obviously the route they are going is that Navarro has a split personality disorder and is the killer. Her alter ego is Sedna the sea goddess. That's why people are saying "She's Awake" it's in reference to that part of her being activated or whatever. Kinda lame. I'm unsure how the Tuttle Family/Carcossa cult fits into this with the spiral...Maybe the cult recruited Navarro to some affect and stationed her there for some kind of cult like purpose (the caves being a type of Carcossa) idk, that's the ONLY thing that actually makes sense at the moment.
I don’t have a lot of faith in this thing wrapping up in a way that will make a lot of sense. Lol
Now that’s an interesting route! I didn’t think of it but it could work
@@TheorySmack it definitely won't. it literally can't, with all the crap they've shown, and only two episodes left.
Brilliant episode.
I agree a lot of filler that feels like you’re about to get somewhere but you really don’t. More jump scares which I don’t like in this show or maybe it’s just cheesy and overdone followed by more one eyed polar bear and spiral references. I love horror but not here. I think the person here @jayd1509 might in onto something here.
The polar bear, is that Liz's personal hallucination? (from the water and also connected to the stuffed bear her son carried.) I'm mentioning this cuz the Christmas tree that Navarro sees....I don't think Liz sees it....
Hanks Russian bride is a misdirect for sure, he most definitely has something to do with Annie Kay’s murder
I agree. I think the catfishing is to make us think he's not smart enough. Also, when Hank went home after getting catfished, he opened his fridge and only had beer and champagne. If you're expecting someone for the holidays, where's the food? They made it a point to show the inside of the fridge. Contrast that with Rose who cooked for an army when she expected no one. Also, Peter seems to have been having issues with his wife for a while now. Particularly working long hours. Besides the recent scientists' deaths, what would cause him to work long hours? Maybe he used the job as an excuse to be out at night.
We learned that Liz is most likely the one catfishing Hank. She said she was on Tinder. The dog either barked at Navarro or Peter when they came out of the house. My guess is Peter. Remember he said he couldnt find him but i think he lied. I think hes been there before.
I’ve started fast forwarding to the last 15 min. Nothing happened. I don’t care about any of these characters. The connections to season one feel added on last minute which from what I’ve read they were.
Navarro's friend is actually a reflection of herself. It would need to be checked (I won't do it), but I believe we only see them together, never accompanied by a third person.
Who, Rose?
If the mine is poisoning the water then maybe Navarro, Julia and her mom were all contaminated from the mine camp her mom was from
Also I think Hanks sons wife is shady
I think Navarro, her mother, and sister actually have a gift. (not curse...) Like being a psychic medium. (I know...woo woo alert.) I think Liz may be hallucinating the polar bear. Looks exactly like the stuffed bear her son carried. Maybe we will find out it was thrown out of the car at the accident??
Is Navarro and others in on it together??
What about the toothbrush
SpongeBob signifies something under the sea…Sedna is a goddess from under the sea…it’s coming…
@@TheorySmack thanks
How it going today and how your weekend
So, going back to a posted guess about the crab processing worker with the 3 fingers. If she is murderer, or one of them, is it about the mine or something else? And if it's about the mine, what's her connection? And having seen a couple vids on Sedna and the imagery in TDNC, it's easy to see the relations each time we see the "matted haired/blind/screaming" ghost figure. I think the big frustration will be the forced "severing" of the potential link of the cases. The audience looking in sees the obvious connection though... anyway, the next 2 eps will interesting.
Yeah...
We know Annie and Clark were dating. I'm guessing she got some insight into what the men were really doing out there and the Tsalal men are behind her killing, not the miners as we've been led to believe.
Somehow, Blair and the other ladies found out about this and took their revenge.
@@TheorySmackAnnie was also extremely eager to go to Tsalal before she began dating Clark. She knew SOMETHING was going on there and she was either in on it or trying to stop it.
Another Sedna connection I thought about was the 3 fingers kind of matching up with the 3 lines on the native face tattoos.
Do the natives worship Sedna and just want to see the mine and research station gone?
Is 3 finger lady from the blue king crab co. involved? Someone on Reddit made a great post saying she is and that the picture Darwin drew was a mashup of Blair and Sedna, whom he just found out about.
@@TheorySmack I was referring to Blair, not Annie, I had just forgotten her name. Would she be angry enough about the Tsalal research to kill them? Is she possesed by Sedna under certain circumstances? Did Rose Aguineau help her?
There’s a massive missing element that is vital for a true detective season. I’m surprised I’ve not heard anyone mention it but the lack of T Bone Burnett is really too noticeable.
It doesn’t feel like true detective.
Maybe it’s guna go back and forth each season, where odd numbered seasons are good and feel like true detective, whilst even numbered seasons are just weird.
"SHE" has already been revealed to us in season 1
WHAT???
threw me in the 😢won with a drunk called otis …
Ok... I was expecting.... Sardar udham... Movie review
Never said I’d make a video on it, but I did watch it and enjoy it, so appreciate the recommendation!
@@TheorySmack ok... Sad.. I thought u r going to make a video on that...
Playing Navarro earns her an Emmy, ok jk 😂
NAHHHHHH lol
So this channel is just recap with no insight or interpretation? Got it. BTW the "ghost" that Navarro sees at Wheeler's is so cheap horror film not scary that I laughed.
I like to provide my insights and interpretations, I just feel like this last episode, maybe last 2 episodes, didn’t really provide much to extrapolate on.
I appreciate your feedback, though. I’ll work to do better with every video.
Season 4 sucks!
You guys are all high or something because this season is AHHHHHMAZING! its like all the haters chose this channel while everyone else is into it.
I mean, I wouldn't call it amazing and I wouldn't call it complete garbage, just kind of meh so far.
Hoping the ending can bring it home
I'm loving it!!! I am hoping for supernatural tho...
It’s embarrassing that this season try’s to associate itself with season 1 - it’s not even close!
I'm done with this season... freaking snooze 😴 wish I never even started it 😆 could have saved 4 hours to watch my pet snail's race...
Pet snails?
Snails shells have spiral patterns…
CARCOSA?!?!!!!!?!!?!!?!!
😆 🤣
This show stinks!
I’m afraid I’m starting to agree. 😢
I know they can't remake what they did with the first season, but at least try 😂
Why are you copying and pasting this on every review I have seen... You do realize that's just going to put True Detective: Night Country in your timeline even more.. dingus.
So glad to know that you love True Detective: Night Country so much, hope it remains on your timeline long after the show ends. 🤗
@@RealBradMiller Because the show stinks. Go on now.
