Danvers was hearing “Twist & Shout” per the subtitles when she was going into the fridge.
Subtitles for the win!
My subtitle situation is frustrating. Long story short, it doesn’t work.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes also that’s the tune wheeler was whistling according to subtitles.
@@JamesCAMH what the heck…makes me wonder if Liz is in a coma from her car wreck we saw in ep 1 and this is all just a dream
as per Subtitles:
Twist & shout tune is
heard:
* when Danvers is at
the frig (it's distorted)
* Wheeler whistles it.
* Navarro hears it
(female voice) when on the ice she sees a child
in distance/slips & hits
her head.
Ever since GOT, I've used subtitles, they give more info: sometimes it's off screen conversations or sounds, inaudible clues etc...
Just want to point the misticism around some Beatles songs and their hidden messages. John Lennon and producer George Martin discovered the backwards recording technique during the recording of Revolver. The tracks using the backwards technique were:
"Tomorrow Never Knows"
"I'm Only Sleeping"
Theory drawing from other media. There is a series of Books called the "Cronics of Amber" from the 70s and 80s. In them, Gods and Demons are living creators that draw their power from either "The Pattern" (Order / Good) or the Logurs (Evil / Chaos). The symbol for the Logrus is a spiral. Both the Pattern and the Logurs can give mortals wealth and power if they study them. Seems very similar to the Tuttles who gain wealth and power by their following the Yellow King and his spiral symbol.
Good stuff
The "she" that's awake is a polar bear. Likely one that was pregnant and burrowed underground, and somehow the mine (or the research facility) disturbed it and/or compromised it. Annie wanted to help and got mauled by it.
There are a lot of things you can pick up if you watch the episodes with the subtitles.
People with early access to episodes so they can make reviews and breakdowns may not have the subtitles available to them.
Yeah, I don’t have subtitles unfortunately
as per Subtitles:

Same!
Twist and shout?
Like the twist of a spiral?
The music is a bit annoying like it’s trying too hard. Also Danvers doesn’t seem like someone who uses Tinder. I mean, who does anymore? The character seems to have a dearth of sexual appetite in my opinion. She doesn’t really exude sex appeal 😂
I think it's the whole gender reversal thing Lopez was going for, but I agree, it's being forced to a point that's just not believable at this point.
Twist and Shout:
At Tsalal in the beginning.
When delivery driver shows up.
When Liz arrives at Tsalal and states that she is not a fan of the Beatles.
When Wheeler whistles it.
When Liz is laying with her son Holden.
When Liz is at the frig.
When Navarro is on the ice.
It seems that it is a reminder to Liz of her dead son and the tragedy of loss and hopelessness.
Playing during the car crash when he died?
I had commented on another post but TWIST AND SHOUT could be applied to the scientists. They “Twisted and Shouted” when they died. It is also how they looked. They were twisted into the ice and looked as if they died mid shout. The song has to have some significance to be replayed in the episodes.
This episode was 50 minutes of boredom leading into 5 minutes of “that’s weird”.
How is EVERYONE missing the fact that the showrunner HERSELF stated that this season will go full on supernatural, unlike previous seasons???
What explanation is there for the scientist having a seizure while standing and then saying she's awake? And how about Danvers hearing the same thing, and the guy in the hospital saying it? And as far as navaro and her visions - so she's just schitzo like her sister? What about both of their character arcs? Will neither of those characters have one? Because that would not make any kind of sense. However, if they do, in fact, end up having character arcs, would it not make sense that Navaro and her sister will end up in a different place from where they started off in the series? Meaning, that they end up realizing that neither of them are crazy, but instead have been experiencing real, spiritual revelations. Doesnt that makes more sense, than both characters having no character arcs - that Navaro's sister just remains crazy, amd Navaro goes from maybe being crazy, to being full on crazy? That doesn't make sense, when considering basic story structure and the character development inherent in that structure.
It's simple deduction bro. You can't have a character end where they began. I also suppose that's a life lesson as well.😂😂 I can't believe none of these facts informed your review. Weird.
Just remember the most important thing in this whole series : Time is a flat circle.
What do you mean? (I get its the context for S1 but how does it relate to S4)?
The sound Liz hears in the fridge is twist and shout and the same goes for the wheeler guy whistling “twist and shout.
Jack 2:30am 2/3/24
This is kind of just a breakdown, even excluding poignant scenes such as Danvers covering her hands in the black water at the vigil, as she tries to resist further being enveloped in the culture and reality her job tells her to ignore.
It's kind of impossible for me to extrapolate on all possible interpretations of every scene/moment in video.
I try to focus on breaking down major plot points, important takeaways, clues/hints as to what is happening, and my theories.
If I did go into insane detail, it would take me 10X as long to make the video and the video would be 2-3X longer, resulting in most people not watching it all anyway, lol,
Dizmodo...I like your analysis of Season 4.
Just wondered WTF is the local mine actually mining? I notice that Silver is in the name. I wondered if silver ore processing produces the awful grey slime that is polluting the water table...seen when Liz washes her hands. Another thought came to me concerning the research scientists' major focus. At least one of them had a web page profile found by Pete which mentioned a specialist research interest in the origins and evolution of microcoleus vaginatus which is associated with a lichen species. This is considered a cyanobacterium that has been demonstrated to produce blue-green algae and can lead to poisoning via the water supply source. Interestingly, the white board in the research centre used by Lund in Episode 1 has recorded the following
Ice Core K23_0096 Culture 5KP Abnormal DNA section from 618P.D (I hope I have read the board info properly). I'd be interested in any thoughts on the above.
I don't think they've mentioned what they're mining yet.
she got the orange from another officer .. i think its food but also something to measure how long you have been on the ice because she wants to walk out so she throws it but she doesn't because it comes back
Basically, if an orange freezes with its rind .. u effd
Many of you have already said it. Many things we have seen are scenes to movies.
This season so far
The Deer Hunter
Star Wars (Also in season 1 ,2 and 3)
Ferris Bueller's day off
Vegas Vacation
the Godfather
Old Yeller
ET
The Shining
The thing
the exorcist
the Blair Witch project
The Graduate
The Dayotlov pass incident.
THE ACCUSED was reenacted by Jody Foster herself
Annie??? because the sun will come out tomorrow?
I thought the polar bear reminded me more of a Coca Cola commercial at Christmas, rather then an evil omen.
And we are only on episode 3
There was an ode to Woody in season 1 where they show and later Marty wears the big belt buckle that his character won in
"The Cowboy Way" in which he starred with Kieth Sutherland.
The Godfather was in there too
and Hardcore
These are NOT eastereggs, but overt clues to the entire series
One of the trailers shows a graveyard. I think they’re going to find Annie’s grave is empty. 😮
I am wondering if Annie discovered the immortality secret and was somehow exposed to it or injected with it and somehow came back to life after her gruesome murder (perhaps murdered by the scientists at Tsalal). Remember Lund somehow and miraculously came back from being seemingly totally frozen. “She’s awake.” Said by Raymond Clark, and Lunds statement, “We woke her.” “Now she’s out there.” “She’s out there in the ice.” (Note IN, not on as always stated.) “She came for us in the dark.” Why would she come for them?
Or perhaps the crazy scientists were jealous of a love affair with one of their scientists, Raymond Clark, and they murdered her and somehow Clark revived her to life with the secret elixir or whatever they discovered, but she is not who and what he thought she would be, like a Pet Cemetary shadow of hers old self? Perhaps the graveyard scene is a nod to Stephen King’s great story?
Or maybe I am just grasping at straws here on January 29th because we are in the dark of how the events will unfold, just like Ennis is in the story. Very very dark, just as this story is as a whole.
I think the most interesting thing is the link between this season and season 1 and if Rust or Marty will be involved in solving the mystery .
I’m doubting it, but the connections have been interesting to say the least
People miss that Marty could see the dead
@@stephenjones4013you mean Rust? He saw ghosts all the time man. We didn’t see any with one exception. The little girl on the side of the road.
@@mattlombardi54 thank you but yes
Coming back the next day to point out something a co-worker noticed. Hank was painting his house the same tone of blue as was on that picture. I have a feeling the lady we spoke with and Oliver are red herrings. Have a feeling he is tampering with the trailer evidence on the whims of the lady that owns the mine and wants Peter to teach her kids to skate. Might have our Blue King (queen). The more I think about it the less supernatural this all is. The mine wanted to shut down Tsalal to prevent the contaminated water from being exposed. Now, what becomes interesting is that Tuttle owned Tsalal. If this is the case, which has been confirmed, wouldn't it make sense to just cut the funding and not kill anyone to not bring more attention? If Tuttle and the mine are seeking to poison the residents of Ennis, is it because they found something in the ice that they need to sneak out?
This season of true detective has been absolutely ridiculous; horrible writing, the actress who plays Navarro is really bad; such an incredible disappointment. Also, I don’t hear much discussion about this, how did the one guy survive being out in sub zero temperatures for days? He was literally frozen; at those temperatures you’d die from hypothermia in a matter of minutes, not hours.
Yeah...I'll be interested to see the final IMDB scores after the finale.
cant tell if im more disappointed by the lions loss or tonights epi 😆
You should temper your expectations for both.
ya maybe @@ObiWanShinobi67
This episode was pretty weak
The only thing that made sense to me concerning 6:45 is perhaps a drain since she had just washed her hands before going to the fridge. There was nasty water and perhaps its signalling the sewage has something to do with "under the ice" or whatever theyre going for. Subtitles said twist and shout was being heard, I think it was coming out of the drain.
Skates Hank hands his kid look like they have blue stains inside. Is that house paint or same hair dye electric blue on Clark/Annie K pics?
I seen that as well….
Watch the show with the subtitles on, it tells you want the quiet things are saying. When Liz opens the fridge the subtitles say, “Twist and Shout by the Beatles, distorted, echoing, fainting playing.”
I wish I could.
HBO gives me early access and I watch a few days before episodes air live.
The site they host the early viewing on doesn’t do subtitles :(
Hell when Liz and Navarro confront wheeler he’s whistling twist and shout!
In the first episode as the delivery man approaches TSALAL,
Who is the song by that plays in his van?
Time is a flat circle.
I still have faith that this won’t go full on supernatural, I hope it doesn’t. Every single “supernatural” occurrence has happened when certain people are alone which leads me to believe that these are hallucinations. I’m engaged with this series but the dialogue is pretty bad. It feels forced and unnatural at times. I hope they finish very strong or this may very well be the end of true detective.
I’m with you. I don’t think it will either
@@TheorySmack I had written a theory on reddit about a week ago stating that I think there is a sect of Inuit/iñupiaq women which are trying to get revenge on the scientists and the miners for what happened to Annie. I think Clark is a victim not an antagonist. There’s a group within the group of protesters that we got a little glimpse of in this episode.
“You’re the chief of police’s daughter” how quickly she was identified was odd to me.
1:24 Look at the guy's police patch.
Doesnt it look like a women face with a wound on her forehead(or a lock of hair coming down)? or the bride of Frankenstein?
Maybe that's who woke up? A clone of Annie, a Frankenstein monster. They used her tongue for the DNA sample.
Andrew. Im using my mom's account.
To us the orange appears as a globe,
To those out there looking down upon us the orange appears flat,
Time is a flat circle.
Watch the clocks,
Every clock has two hands, like the hand missing fingers,
Blue king
Yellow king
She is awake.
Carcosa mirrors.
Great coverage! I completely agree they can’t end it with purely a supernatural cause. I hope that the super natural element ends up being more of a mental health element. But at this point it feels like it’s aiming for a middle ground, which personally…I don’t LOVE. But that’s okay :)
Hope they give us more answers for the spirals/Tuttle connection, but my hunch is those are just little easter eggs meant to string us along story-wise. I’d love to be wrong tho.
Overall this felt like a bit of a filler episode to me!
There’s a rumor that rose is only talking to Navarro because she’s dead? Thats cap because I did a rewatch of ep 1 at the end Peter calls Liz and tells her Rose found something on the ice! Also rose is lighting the flares for the chopper
I think Peter is more involved in the murders than we know. Maybe to blackmail hank.
also the brain pilot chanel said the guy who killed his gf years ago was whistling twist and shout
I hear, “Come on baby … twist and shout,” faintly when Liz is looking in the fridge.
The sound is definitely a muffled and slow version of twist and shout. Didn’t catch it the first time but got on the second time around.
Any chance Lund is Mahaha symbolism?
I agree its twist & shout with lot of static
It sounds like like Ferris bueller twist and shout scene that Liz hears
Yeah, seems to be the case
If someone can explain why the hunters and troopers were fighting in the waiting room for no reason, with no explanation that I can fathom, that would be great
Yeah I can’t freaking figure that one out either 🙄
Mozart Lacrimosa?
I was wondering what was going on in the hospital waiting room 😂
That was quite the scene, huh? I heard someone say someone got shot, but it just felt kind of random
@@TheorySmack too much going on for them to be wrapping it up in 2 episodes
Wouldn't oliver be the hunter from the first episode?
Nah, the Hunter was who met Liz outside the camp when they first got there
How did you get this out so fast? Is HBO giving you guys early access to the episode or something? 😂
Yep.
Members of the press and creators can get early access, so I do watch each episode a few days before they air so I can get my videos out quickly
👍👍👍
This show sucks!
Season 1, 2 and 3 are classics and the creator and writer was not involved with this season so that was a red flag and the storyline Is all over the place. The original creators should make a season 5 because this is disappointing.
So what make you think that? What make this show bad?
This is terrible writing
You have trash taste.
I dont love the writing but its really not bad to be fair. Hard to follow up season 1 of TD. not a whole lot of improvement to be had. it was good tv.
You have terrible taste.
@@ObiWanShinobi67my thoughts exactly
this show absolutely SUCKS
Ehhh, I wouldn’t go that far.
Not great, but I’m intrigued enough to see where it goes
Maybe next episode will have more explosions for the simpletons.
@@TheorySmack its only 6 episodes an they just dragged 3 of them out basically giving us nothing but supernatural garbage, can't see it going that far...
@@ObiWanShinobi67 at this point that would be the highlight of the show.
Maybe there will be a catapult in the next episode 😂
Is there only 6 episodes for this Season???
Yep
