The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

"In the singing game, Lou Rawls is the best." ~Frank Sinatra
Unique voice, wonderful singer.
Lou Rawls was the only reason to sit through this otherwise subpar Sullivan Show episode. "Love Is a Hurtin' Thing" was at its peak [#13] on the Billboard Hot 100 and was about to go #1 R&B (Soul). I already had the record, and this would be the first time I would ever see him on television. His Capitol Records period was his best, peaking with this song and "Dead End Street" five months later.
I saw Lou rolls in concert in Las Vegas in the 90s even up an age he still has a beautiful voice and could sing the pants off of any song he put on a great concert
That was his biggest hit until the 1970s with, you’ll never find another love like this
A NATURAL MAN
Verdade😆😆😆
He had at least three other big hits after this one and before arriving at Philadelphia International - "Dead End Street" (1967), "Your Good Thing Is About To End" (1969) and the Grammy winning "A Natural Man" (1971) - all Top 40 pop hits.
Never heard of him before just now. Terrific voice
I love Lou.
