Facts: There are no night clubs in Newport Beach CA that are 16+. Most are 21+ with only 2 that are 18+. Given that the Criminal investigation was started in Newport, and the fact that the girl is under 18, the family may not be cooperative because 1) If they cooperate they could be in legal trouble as She was in a place that her age could be assumed to be 18 if not more likely 21 and 2) Giddey being accused could result in financial losses, which he could then sue for given the deception (The club is also on the hook of this scenario is true).

This isn't a race thing. Ja Morant is being propped as a "face of the league." He's being hyped up by the NBA and is thus being held to a higher standard. He was told to stop his shenanigans and he agreed and apologized for it and... he still went on and committed more of them. This is why the league was so harsh on him. As for the Miles Bridges and Josh Primo incidents, there were complaints filed against them and they were found guilty of committing said incidents after investigation. In the Giddey case, it's still being investigated but, as of now, there are no complaints filed. The alleged "victim" and her family aren't even cooperating, preferring to remain silent. This whole controversy arose because somebody posted something that is being deemed inappropriate and is now being blown up by Karens and Jarens of the net.

The law is kinda messed up with the age of consent, when you’re also at a younger age, the girl actually wanted to be with him and he wanted to be with her, but the parents did not approve it. So they reported it to the police and He went to jail. He is now a DOT forever. He went to jail and was getting beat up on because people thought he was a child molester.
He got out and they ended up back together. They are now married. And of course they don’t talk to her parents anymore.

Silver explained it with intention in his words. He said theyve never suspended someone on the basis of an allegation alone. The other examples had allegations AND the results of an investogation. In this case, they seem to have gotten no additional information for any of the investigations that are ongoing. If/when they do have something from those, a punishment is sure to be forthcoming...at least I would hope so.

I think the main point is that they don't have any proof that he did anything wrong. They have an allegation, but not even from the alleged victim. I think the reason why they are afraid to take action with Giddey is because the allegations are from an anonymous source, and most likely not from the victim. The other example, Primo, has the statement of the Spurs staff member against him. Ja, like Mike said, is more like a PR move, to disavow gun ownership perhaps? I'm not familiar with the Dwight Howard issue, but I think that originated from Dwight's partner/victim/whatever. If they were able to get a statement from the girl with Giddey, I'm sure they would jump on this issue too. It's too controversial from a moral and political standpoint.

Ja got punished for conduct that went against the NBA's long held anti gun stance. Every player knows about it 100%. He also broke that same rule after being warned about it. He got what was coming to him and he knew it. Josh will likely see some kind of punishment for conduct detrimental, but not much of a punishment when all is said and done, since the league has no rules about a consensual relationship with someone of age (assuming she is of age wherever the actions took place and no other laws are involved).

The reason why the NBA isn't or the Thunder aren't suspending Giddey is because the whole situation or incident happened 2 years ago when he was still 19 then the girl lied about her being over aged to get in a club where she met then got close with Giddey where they spend the night together but after Giddey found out the girl lied about her age, they never meet again.
Giddey also expected this would get leaked since he was in public when it happened also he already told this to OKC when it happened in 2021 then they made their own investigation but couldn't find anything that anything and have condemned no concern while the police investigation current is having a hard to find something since the girl's family is not cooperating with them well that tells you that Giddey is pretty much innocent but it is a horrible accident/mistake to happen for both involved since it got spread thru social media quickly.

I hate to be this guy but you did say that primo was suspended “after a league investigation” while in reference to giddey Adam silver said the investigation is currently ongoing. So I don’t see a double standard here as we can still see a giddey suspension after a league investigation is complete and hypothetically that can happen even if there ends up being no criminal charges. I think people just expect this to be happening faster than it has been, it’s crazy that we still don’t know basic details

Why is it controversial to not take action when it's still just an allegation? That's just being responsible. Imagine if he got suspended and then he was found innocent, the NBA would be facing a massive lawsuit.
They could suspend him with pay pending an investigation.
That is a very standard practice, and almost always the go to when hostile work environments are involved, something less serious than sexual misconduct.
In that case the Spurs would be the only injured party.

Black players are automatically 'guilty until proven innocent' and still guilty (and cut from the team) even before being proven innocent! I definitely agree that a double standard still continues to this day when it comes to these things at some level. Especially when it comes to black men in criminal/civil cases in the public eye. While I personally don’t feel that the Ja Morant thing and Giddy’s situation are equivalent situations, since Ja unequivocally broke league rules repeatedly after being warned vs Giddy’s being an allegation without much proof. However, I feel like a better example of that double standard is the response and treatment of Coach Udoka. As I genuinely can’t imagine that any white coach or staffer would’ve been suspended or criticized to the degree he was, much less fired. Not to mention, I doubt that the story would’ve been so publicly discussed had it not been a black man.

It's also important to remember what the respective teams have done after the allegations. The Spurs immediately released Primo which in my mind means the team knew he was guilty for at least a little bit of the accusations. Meanwhile, the Thunder and specifically their head coach have only come out and said that Giddey was playing, which tells me the team knows more than the general public does. I doubt that the Thunder and the league itself would jeopardize this PR case if they didn't have at least a little bit more information than we do
Tbh 16-19 is super standard. The fact that she took a trophy selfie after seggs tells me she totally shipped it. Her refusing to cooperate tells me she just wanted to do him and that's pretty much about it. Him getting in any kind of trouble for forcing absolutely nothing and taking advantage of nobody would be insane imo. The reason Giddy hasn't been suspended is this is America, innocent until PROVEN guilty. He could literally sue the NBA for defamation of character, slander and liable. I don't like Steven A Smith, but he's right in this instance. Morant was was suspended because the NBA is SUPPOSED to be family friendly. He wants to live the thug life, let him, but don't pay him super star money to be a role model for the next generation.
