He should've done better research on this video. Firstly, the girl lives in CA and the age of consent is 18. In Australia, most states are either 16 or 17, but only within 2 years of the age limited. So a 16 year old cannot consent to having sex with a 21 year old. This UA-camr needs to do better

I agree. I feel like school didn’t teach things like this. What if you have no plan the moment you graduate HS? No direction? No ambition or determination.
There has to be millions of people that are stuck in this situation. There has to be people that relate to this.
That’s why it’s important for parents to let their children’s imaginations run wild and let them try their hand at as many things as they can so that they can start figuring themselves out and developing skills/talents at a young age. It’s harder to learn the older you get. I personally would never allow my kid to come home from school and lock himself in his room all day to play video games, j*ck off, and rot his brain on social media. You’re doing sports, if sports ain’t your thing, we’ll figure out what is and you’re going to start early. This will solve a lot of young adults feeling lost after high school
This applies to literally 90% of all HS graduates, really. There's no way you can know at that stage, which is why the first two years of college tends to be general studies to buy time for when you settle on a major.

Liv’s birthday is Feb 6th 2007. Josh’s is Oct 10th 2002. If all leaked images and videos surfaced between these two dates in 2023, Liv would’ve been 16 and Josh would’ve been 20. (The age of consent in Oklahoma is 16, and in Melbourne, Australia it’s also 16). So, the age difference is likely only 4 years during the time of their relationship. (still a little weird, yes, but certainly legal).

Just for clarification in Australia the age of consent is 16, however a 16 year old may only engage in sexual acts with a partner aged from 16-18. Similarly anyone over the age of 18 cannot engage in sexual acts with anyone under the age of 18. If you are 18 you could technically do stuff with 16-17 year old's but it's generally uncommon. (This is from an actual Australian btw although im not from Melbourne so im not 100% sure they follow these exact rules)

Now, age consent does matter, of course. However...until she has turned 18, they can still go after Josh Giddey for statutory rape. Especially if the parents press charges. Also, I believe once Giddey turned 21 his legal protection on her age of consent also has to raise to 18. Because legally he is fully an adult at this point in every single state. (There are some states where the law says you are a full adult at 21 and not 18).
If Josh were a rookie 19 year old...I think most people would be forgiving of what he is doing because they both have teen in their age. The fact that he is now old enough to buy alcohol legally becomes a much more moral issue. Possibly a much bigger legal issue as well.
The parents have right to press charges over what he hss done though. I think she would have to consent to it at 17, but at 16...her parents can go right after him.
