I love Paul but Birds Cs are better. Dennis Johnson was a champion on his own and finals MVP for Seattle and one of the greatest defender EVER. Than you have Bird 3 time MVP and the best player on the floor. Danny Ainge was a great 3 pt shooter and so was Bird. Then you go down low with Parrish McHale and Cedric and they own this celtics team.

Nah man. Birds C's are better. DJ finals MVP in Seattle before he ever played with Bird and one of the greatest defenders ever. Then you have Bird 3 time mvp and great 3 pt shooter. Danny ainge was also a great 3 point shooter. Then you go to the post with Parrish, Cedric and McHale and they're clearly the better team. They also played against much better teams because the east was stacked back then and NBA had stacked teams because of how the salary cap worked. They even had Bill Walton rip at one point coming off the bench.

Keyshawn has got to be replaced. He is not that knowledgeable on basketball and he shouts too much to be heard. And he interrupts Paul when we're trying to listen to Paul analyzing. If no one addresses an unimportant statement that Keyshawn throws out there then he keeps repeating it and his voice elevates in an annoying sounding voice. REPLACE HIM WITH SOMEONE BETTER. The KD Warriors team probably wins BUT that series would be matchup dream for Jaylen Brown because he wouldn't have to guard anyone good and he'd be free to use most of his energy on offense. There’s only a couple duos that I could even think of putting in a conversation with them. Then jaylen switches 1-4 and jayson 1-5…this defense would give any offense problems

It’s a discussion of if this Boston team is a top 5 team of all time. Which they arguably are. Personally this team is better than the Golden State team. Tatum always beats Durant. Brown and Klay is super close. Earlier Klay had a better chance but when Durant came Klay was starting to decline. Warriors have no answer for KP. Jrue and Dwhite make Curry’s life awful. Celtics in 7. Everyone on the planet thinks that warriors team is either 1st or second. Well most people anyway

@@natedawg1007 not a celtics fan but this celtics team would take those warriors to 7 and have the best chance of any team current or old, to beat them. not a fan of either team. curry would get body bagged by the celtics defense. klay would be forced to do a lot more than shoot 3s. it would realistically be durant vs celtics. and the warriors biggest issue has always been in the paint, kp would collapse the f*ck outta them.
I’ve been a Celtics fan since the early 80s, but I disagree with your statement Paul about measuring this team as an all-time great based on how many Hall of Famer’s are on the team. I would base it on the run and how they finished the season in relation to their dominance. I do agree that they would be a top five or top eight team of all time to win the finals, but my measurement would be on their performance in this season and nothing else.
The 17 warriors is probably the most unbeatable team ever. Number 1 in offense, 2 in defense, defensive player of the year in the starting lineup, and a finals mvp coming off the bench.. nobody matches up with that. This team is not beating the spurs, nor bulls, nor kobe and shaq lakers. They might beat the heatles, but i still got the heat in probably 6.

Paul made some good points regarding whether the current Celtics would beat the old Celtics.
Bird’s, Magic and Jordan’s era should never be compared to any modern day era team including this Celtics Tatum team…The legend’s era drove to the basket more , the bigs didn’t rely on 3 pointers as much to determine the game and the players getting fouled where hard physical fouls, no flopping around and just waiting to get hit and then flop and refs let players in the legend’s era get away with more physicality , even in 2008 the level of play was different..so I’m actually glad Pierce said his team can beat Tatum’s team because I really think they could. Like the NFL, the NBA has really changed over the years and players are more protected by the officiating ..meaning the true physical nature of football and basketball has been muted. So these analysts need to stop comparing modern teams with classic teams🙄

These Celtics mostly resemble the 2014 Spurs. The 2014 Spurs won 60 games, beat the Thunder in the West Finals, and then beat the 2 time defending champion Heat. Both have similar players and a similar style.
The Spurs had an actual star in Kawhi & beat a super team led by Lebron. Kawhi at this age is still JB & JT AND Luka's dad's, they cannot beat him in the playoffs, Luka still 0-2 vs healthy Kawhi.

Why do you think that though? I think his initial point of we have to come back and revisit this when their careers are over was a very solid point. If Tatum and Brown go on to be top 20-25 players of all time based on their achievements, we are going to look at this team differently, especially since they have 5 All-stars on their roster. Like you saying the '08 team is better is either A) completely subjective given the fact that this '24 team literally had all-time numbers and won in dominant fashion - more so than that 08 team, or B) because of the fact that we can look back on what the players on the '08 roster did with their careers and appreciate that championship more. This team is still young and I think there's a good shot in 20 years we could look back and consider them unanimously as a top 5 team if things pan out the way they hope, and they rack up accolades.
