Loving the fact that Blood Bowl is taking such a central position in this interview so thank you Jordan for your work in bringing Gary out to talk about his creative work ❣️
I have so many great Gary Morley sculpts that I love, like the Wights and the Blood Bowl undead, and the 1993(?) Zombies (best Zombies ever). I think his Undead effectively form the core of my Undead army. I have models before and after, but his ones are my favourites. Thank you Gary!
Gary is a top bloke and a lovely person to chat to. A legend in our lifetime when you think back on all the amazing models he’s sculpted and he’s still making amazing stuff now, but still super humble all the same. Had the pleasure of seeing him do some green stuff work in action and was amazed by his skill.
I played Undead in 4th edition and I loved the faction and its models so much. I had a huge unit of Zombies which were a joy to paint, and the Necromunda models Gary did were incredible. The Redemptionists in particular were something I always wanted but could never get my money together for. Same for Nagash, my Undead always had to have some lesser general leading them.
Don't know if Gary is going to read these comments but I'd just like to say that from my point of view the undead, and Nagash in particular, were my second favourite minis in the Warhammer range. And they're only the second because Chaos Dwarfs were my first ever minis and my first introduction to Citadel Miniatures. And Arkahn the Black is quite possibly the best large mini from the day. One day I will have one. Even if I have to sell a couple of organs. And the Blood Bowl range? God damn. Blood Bowl is the one game I never stopped playing. Undead and Chaos Dwarfs were my teams. And the Star Players are all brilliant.
What a delightful conversation to listen to. Thank you, Gary, for your contribution to our fun. I'm actually sitting here, finishing up a repaint of one of the metal Bloodbowl Skaven while I listen to this. That team brought me so much enjoyment. In all of Gary's sculpts we can see so much love, and soul. Thank you, Jordan for another sincere conversation.
I could listen to GM forever - I adore the fact that he rambles on, forgets the question and often forgets his own answer 😂 he’s so interesting - the studio in that era must have been incredible fun
Ooh, can’t wait to listen to this one! Gary is still way too under appreciated in the community, he was an absolutely prolific sculptor at Games Workshop, he's behind so many superb models.
My first-ever miniatures wargame was Necromunda. Started playing shortly after it was released. The only game I’ve played more times than Necromunda is Blood Bowl and I am still using the classic sculpts from Gary’s era to this day. Add in Warhammer Quest and LotR and It’s very possible that I’ve painted more Morley sculpts than from any other creator at GW. So glad to see this interview. Love it! ❤
One more: 20 years ago there were two Games Days in Los Angeles. My club ran our own version of Formula Waaagh! on an 8’ x 8’ table both years and it was a huge hit. The (very large) Gorkamorka-style desert hills we made and painted are still used in game stores in my area to this day. #nostalgia.
@@tyrion3575 Even in 2024, thaty's my favoured vampire. It is sooo Hammer movie meets 15th century voivod. Thank you for that, it is a gift to the tabletop community.
I fought Gary Morley’s Nagash many a time because my friend Ryan was an undead player. I loved it and it killed my dwarf king a few times. Once I killed Nagash in the first turn off my dwarf first cannon shot. Cheers to Gary and you Jordan. V/r Chris Foreman
Dear Gary, thank you for giving an autograph to a gobby teenager, one Games Day around the turn of the millennium. And this was even after I asked, wrt Nagash 💀, what the ice cream cone was all about 🍦. I still have my Nagash model. But I did remove the ice cream cone before painting. #sorrynotsorry
All the tertiaries that talked smack about Morley were just tasteless lemmings, he produced many fantastic sculpts. The 4th edition undead were definitive warhammer aesthetic and his necromunda models were great. I also vastly prefer the soulful Nagash to the modern CAD rubbish
If the next time a legendary sculptor mentions that they picked up some tricks and tips from even more venerable sculptors, if the next words out your mouth aren’t ’such as?’ I’m afraid I’m gonna have to unsubscribe 😂

I love the original Nagash - an Undead cult icon! Great interview :)
I didn’t appreciate Gary’s work enough as a younger person - now I love it. He’s got his own style and that’s a rarer and rarer thing. What a legend.

The original Nagash is still the figurehead of my undead army 32 years after I first got him!! I literally look at the mini every day and reminisce ❤
his archlich for AoW is also quite splendid

Maybe if we're lucky he'll pop up in Old World at some point...
Ripper Bolgrot is in my top 3 sculpts ever, cheers Gary!
Another fantastic interview.
Gary Morley always seems like a real gent. I loved his high elves back in the day and can’t wait to see the familiars!!
Another awesome interview Jordan, Gary was so entertaining, just love the extra insight with every new discussion you have.
Thanks Stu, much appreciated

… in fact, I painted one of those undercut armpit skulls just last week. Lol 😂

Great interview - what a legend!
I own absolutely loads on Blood Bowl Teams and the 3rd Edition Undead are my favourite, an absolute Morley classic.
I wonder if the digital sculptor he was speaking to who's stuff looks hand sculpted was Knucklebones Miniatures
Oooooh looking forward to this!
Was the Vampire Lord with the heavy metal cape and the ginormous ring hid work? It still is one o my favoured sculpts.
Yep one of mine

This was an incredibly fun interview, Jordan. Loved Gary's stories!
