In leffen's defense, he does quite literally reside in another continent and plays another game at a high level at the same time.
I respect your opinion Toph, you're awsome, but placing Leffen over Jmook just seems insane to me. Jmook has as much tournament wins as Leffen has tournament attendences. In my opinion attendence shouldn't be punnished that hard. Imagine Jmook just not entering any tournaments after battle of BC, he would have two 1th and a 4th place (at majors). That's allready better than Leffen's entire year. Not to mention he still wins wavedash after that and gets 2th at Fete. I think there's a lot of recency bias with Jmook underperforming at GOML and Leffen performing exeptionally well at LACS.
It’s crazy mango was able to finish so high considering all of his brackets were single elimination while everyone else was playing in double
Well to be fair beating moky in losers grands twice was huge especially because moky was ranked 5

I think its completely fair to not count genesis for mango but the hbox loss has to count because he already lost a set to him in thst tournament so you cant let him dodge a 2nd by saying im not trying. And the johnny losses have to count because it hes "gifting" 2 top 8s to his friend there has to be a cost to that.
I think this summer top 10 is the hardest of all time because no one went to anything and everyone is all over the place

Also ur the best Toph, no hate, but I’m getting frustrated that no one is mentioning any of aMSa’s 4 wins this year to his credit. Then there’s his huge amount of top 5 placements at majors including 2nd at bobc5, 3rd at major upset, 4th at Goml, 4th at tipped off, 4th at fete 3.
None of those tournaments you listed except GOML is a supermajor, and all of the tournaments he's won this year were regionals against players he was expected to beat.
All of amsa's 1st places were against kodorin or axe, they werent majors imo
@@tylercasea I know that, but Toph put plup over aMSa saying “plup has a win.” CEO was no more stacked than dreamhack and lvl up expo imo, so two regional wins are better than one. Plup has 2nd place at major upset. aMSa has 2nd place at bobc5 which was way more stacked. It’s literally so clear. Not even to mention how much more aMSa attended if that matters.
@@tylercasea battle of BC was a super major, like just plup was missing. If 8 of the top ten are there it’s a super major. That’s the melee stats definition.

This is your list obviously Toph, but you’re saying plup won a tournament and putting him over aMSa, aMSa won four this year! Dreamhack, Lvl up expo, Daddie’s Den, Trail Invitational. Dreamhack and Lvl up expo were no less stacked than CEO. Isn’t it about the whole ranking period, not recency solely?
If you watch the whole video, he ends up placing amsa above plup. Also, he does a pretty good job explaining his reasoning, so im not sure why you're confused.
Well this top 10 list is missing KoDoRin who's obviously going to make top 10 since he wasn't in 11-20. Which means someone on this list just isn't ranked, which most likely means either Wizzrobe, Plup, Leffen, or Mang0 were dropped from the rankings for their relative inactivity.

Toph said he did this before EVO, which means he hadn't seen the rankings/seen the panelists say Wizzy wouldn't be ranked. I got the impression he wasn't doing this based on "where do I think these players will be ranked on the official rankings" and was doing more of a "here's what my top 10 would look like if I was in charge of the rankings" and he just disagrees with the decision not to rank Wizzy based on activity
When I did the stream I spent a good 25 minutes or so talking about how Kodorin had really earned his top 10 spot, only to throw it out when I realized I could get away with putting Wizzy in my top 10 because it'd be funny (and because Wizzy is a god activity criteria or not)
But yes, many Kodorin praises were sung that day

i legit feel like the panelists that do this subjective ranking is enabling a circus show and making top players do whatever they want while they screw over people that actually care about competitive smash
Not counting mang0 throwing and not attending for months and ranking Leffen after attending like 3 things over moky, aMSa and Hbox are the main reasons i don't take the panel as objective fact since last summer rankings.
looking at specific player losses (or "worst losses") is an insane approach and it's wild to me that it's the norm
I don't think Amsa's Moky loses should count against him extra.
They already count against him because he doesn't get points for beating Moky, and the amount of loses against Moky also lost him the opportunity to play other top players. So you are already accounting for the amount of loses.

i went to check the blog post for the top 10 and it wasn't there, only to get spoiled from the top down on twitter this morning 🙃
If i was Zain i would just win Smash Con and camp out until Big House and not attend anything else for the year the way everyone punishes keeping the game alive.
The top 10 h2h being valued so much over concistency is questionable in my opinion aswell but ig we let Leffen not enter until Big House and give him nr. 1 if he wins that?
How can u put moky above mango when mang continuously beat him 1 on 1
I keep hearing people discredit Leffen in old videos when he dropped out for me that's similar enough to going secondaries if that's chosen at the time
IMO there's definitely a difference between saying ahead of time "I'm going Doc" like Mango did at Genesis or how Zain announces he's attending as DTM when he signs up for specific tournaments, vs Mango deciding to go Doc halfway through a tournament because he wasn't doing as well as he would've liked. The former just shouldn't be counted and the latter should be the sort of thing that's penalized to discourage loss-dodging.
That's kind of how I feel about the Leffen stuff in 2019/whatever. I didn't think he should've been penalized for deciding to drop out of one game to focus on another/due to scheduling conflicts, but once you've already played out your pools/bracket matches, saying "I just don't feel like it" and DQing (without a valid medical excuse like HBox coughing up blood or everyone at that one cursed COVID summit) both harms the experience for other players and is essentially more loss-dodging for the sake of rankings and should also be penalized
Minor, irrelevant point. Wizzy took Amsa to Mute City in one game. Amsa lost that game though, so it doesn't further the argument that Off-season doesn't count
Plup/Wizzy absolutely do not have the attendance to get ranked this season… they also are definitely good enough to be 10 possibly top 5.
I'm for SURE a plup club gold member, and he is perma in my top 2

This old guard needs a reality check and stop dick riding Leffen. It’s like they fear Leffen because that don’t want to get Hax$ or Rocky.
