I was 15 when I had my first daughter. I'm now 36, have three children and married and have a business with my husband. Things were not always easy but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I understood even at 15, it was my responsibility and God has a plan for me AND also the baby inside. When I gave birth to her I realized what true love was. I cried when I first saw her. When people tried to say it's just a clump of cells, I think of how Mary and Sarah were pregnant together and Jesus and John the Baptist even responded to each other and their mother's wombs. Baby's experience pain. All of my children are drastically different. But they were definitely people from the start. God bless the work you're doing. Thank you very much.

Allie, I respect you standing on truth. My heart was truly hurting when I heard Beggs response. I have listened to his teachings for years, and learned a lot from them. I agree, he is wrong on this subject. Lawson is 100% correct. I have a personal play in this one, that is why it pains me to hear Beggs stance. I have a son that professed to be homosexual when he was around 16. In all of my discouragement he decided to fall full into that lifestyle and all that entails. Lived that lifestyle under Gods grace for almost 10 years. All the while as a mom, I was praying and loving him, and speaking truth into his life , even when he asked me to leave him alone. I was, by the grace of God, living out Spurgeons quote “ If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let no one go unwarned and un prayed for. “ One morning, about 8 months ago, my son came to me broken, telling me that the Lord revealed himself to him and he asked me what should he do. He went to church with me that morning and surrendered his life to the Lord. I hope this helps someone reading. this. That was one of the toughest things I have ever had to watch;my son hurt like he was in that lifestyle, but I could NEVER condone it.

Praying for you and for your son, that he will find comfort in knowing how much God and his mother love him!! Thank you for sharing your testimony and also for the Charles Spurgeon quote. I think that we must never give up; God hears our prayers and although we may not receive the outcome for which we hope and pray, God always with us, sustaining us. One of my children struggled with drug addiction 13 years. He professes quietly that God has healed him and is doing well. I was not aware of Spurgeon's writing (and I'm not sure if my Mom knew of Spurgeon's writing , in her lifetime, either) but both of us had this "mindset" in praying for, and in interactions with my son and with other grandchildren whom we have felt were not in alignment with what the teachings of the Lord and the Scriptures have provided us, in how best to live our lives.

@@ChristianchooseI encourage you to read the Bible with the sincere heart and pray just as your church encourages you to do about the BOM. You will see that the Bible, which you guys believe is true and not corrupt (just missing pieces) does directly contradict things in the BOM. your sprit may feel good about many things in it bc it does have some truth from the Bible. Also things like the word of wisdom includes some good advice that would help anyone ( as example many people don't realize their excessive drinking of coffee may cause anxiety disorder but then they stopped drinking that because of the words of wisdom and then they feel like it's actually the religion that has freedom from their anxiety). There is significant evidence that Joseph Smith completely either made up or was Guided by an evil spirit in his translation of the book of abraham. There is undeniable evidence that the ancient Egyptian does not say that and that it was a funeral text. Please be honest with yourself and look into this and notice that he cannot be a true prophet of God because in his own diary he states that these were the words directly written on the Papyrus by Abraham and that he translated it. You also cannot deny that he used a Seer Stone to translate the book of mormon. This is directly a form of divination which directly goes against scripture and even the LDS church now speaks against any forms of Witchcraft, new age, or divination. The way people can control others is by manipulating and convincing them that modern-day prophets can have current revelation of new doctrines and principles of the Lord opposed to just the Holy Spirit giving us conviction in our lives to line up with what the Lord has already said. The whole point of prophet was to point us to Jesus Christ and he has already come. Anyone who tells you differently is going directly against scripture and needs to be seen as a false prophet or just ignorant and wrong. I plead with you to consider these truths and pray, but to look at direct evidence. There is evidence that is undeniable

I heard the original podcast, after which I wrote him a letter because I was shocked at his answer. I also listened to every word of the follow up message AND read the transcript. I still think his advice was bad, but I also think we need to weigh this one situation alongside his clear history of calling this sin what it is. He sited his experience at the university when so many women walked out during his unpopular message, and numerous other sermons where he has not shied away from saying the hard truth of scripture. He reiterated that it was not a blanket statement of advise and in another situation he would respond totally differently. I hope people with allow him to be a fallible human being, albeit a public human being whose words are forever frozen in time. He even said he struggles with these issues - he should be given grace in light of his honesty.

I actually appreciate his honesty on how he felt with this particular subject matter. He doubled down on it so obviously that is how he sees it. BUT it's still wrong and could affect other Brothers and Sisters who are in the same dilemma. He hasn't said anything to the point that we in anyway shud discredit him as a Brother in Christ or of the wonderful teaching ministry he has. I believe his intentions were good but I also believe he is wrong! That's why we must always go to the WORD OF GOD for ourselves and ask for the leading of the Holy Spirit. I heard the grandmother did not go so if that is the case she didn't need the Brothers councel. She already knew in her heart what to do. If it wasn't such a in your face subject everywhere we go now maybe more grace would have been given. But this subject affects our children as well as an abomination before God.

The big fail by his critics, in my opinion, is that they are treating his pastoral advice in a very particular situation-and remember this is coming from a man who has been led by the Holy Spirit and had a fruitful life for many years, as a general statement of doctrine. His doctrine on the issue of homesuality is clear-he has made it so for years. But in this sinful world, finding the line to walk between loving someone and endorsing their actions is not easy when it is a child or other person who is in your life. The attack on Alister is evidence that the Church is filled with people with a strong inclination to act as Pharisees. But in this age of social media and the ease of casting judgments from afar-and doing so for UA-cam money making clips if many attacking Alister on podcasts would honestly admit, it’s not surprising go see the mob. But so very sad.

One odd thing in pastor Begg’s sermon is he started with the end of the parable & not the beginning. The father let the son & his relationship go, as the relationship was broken for a time until the son came back repentant. The father didn’t get in the pigpen with his son. Still, he doesn't throw Dr. Begg under the bus, making derogatory comments about his character, motives, or future ministry. I agree with @JohnTucker and Dr. Lawson. However, because Begg demonstrates himself from the pulpit blame shifting and re-charectorizing everything in order to look good..that is not above reproach and is not a reasonable leadership position to leave in tact with that example. Being America as poorly spiritually knit together as we are...Begg needs to be under real church discipline. Playing footsie with this will toss our youth to transgender surgery. One man going down that acts like a definsive teenager handling the word of God after 40 years? Worth removing from the pastorate. My view is not cancel culture. My view is this man's reasoning does not belong in the pulpit. Perhaps he has early stage dimensia. Understandable if so. But leaving Begg in tact is a circus fiasco on America. I like Begg. Alot. But this its not ministry to pussy foot. Good to give him time to repent. But if there is no real men skin in the game on this...I do not support America will tank nearing the tribulation motif. But if Begg floats and we play footsie...i"d say America is toast. Blessings.

Regarding Alistair Begg, who has taken such a strong stand against homosexuality & whose personal integrity, attunement to Scripture & humility of spirit has remained historically astute, I just want to say, he's in good company. Christ, too, chose to speak to the woman at the well, invite himself to the home of Zacchaeus, and bring Matthew (Levi) on board as a disciple. In our culture, it's very easy to view those choices as loving and even righteous, but certainly not in His culture. The phariceutical criticisms that came fast & furious in Jesus' day were because of His choices over & over to be sinless, but loving, to risk what people thought of His faith in order to make connection to the lost, the individual, one at a time. Alistair was very clear that IN THIS CASE, he would advise going to the event, but under different circumstances, he might choose otherwise. Living for Christ one prayerful decision at a time is certainly more difficult, but more Christlike. Jesus said that the poor we would always have with us... that's also true of pharasees... they're always there, as long as there's a Scripture to dismantle from its context in order to hurl stones with authority, they'll hurl! My hope, as I read response after response on several channels from people who have "sworn off the man" or "glad to know the truth about Alistair Begg " -are not people who need the Gospel derived from his teaching or at least are people who will not be discouraged to the point of abandoning ship! And for certain, those who move forward in their calling can still be strengthened to speak, knowing that their Biblical messages will not only convict the guilty but will be the comfortable cause for mud-slinging from their fellow soldiers. Softening a statement in context does little good when the headline serves the first punch!

      Yes. I agree with you.
The more I read comments why people are disappointed with Alister’s advice the more I realize they’re tired of Christians looking like the world. I get that. I really do. It’s confusing for Christians and non-Christians when so called “Christians” are drunks, gossips, practice slander, witchcraft, idle, cutting themselves, sleeping around, sorcery and group masturzating (what Corinthians, Timothy and Galatians were dealing with).
All of us are wrong. God is right. No one knows the activity of God. So we must fear Him alone and obey Him and work out our own salvation with fear and trembling to walk in His works set before us.
One thing I know for sure: He pursues sinners like me. I was lost but now I am found. Which is Alister Begg’s point.

I feel God is doing something in the reformed christianity. There has been an american fundamentalism creeping in that is lacking love and forgetting that people should actually wrestle with God with these things that are going on.
We are quick to cancel someone WHO DARES to actually wrestle with God. We behave like a woke mob, when our favourite online pastor or commentator tells someone is wrong. No thinking. No praying. No listening. Just quick mouths speaking and always speaking.
We have a huge log in our own eyes, yet we continue in our hardness.
Begg's answer was not a sin. It is not sin in ALL circumstances to join to gaywedding. It can be in most cases. But to call one answer a sin and man to repent for giving answer you wouldn't give.. Oh boy.
Pharisees de facto made their own, more-strick-than-the-Bible-says definition of sin. And they made everyone to obey their rules. How is this different what you are doing Allie? "You obey ME (30year old talking head online) or else.......:

it's easy to "agree" with it verbally than it is to actually believe it. About 20 yrs ago, Barack Obama said that he believed that marriage should only be between a man and woman. However, all of his naked attacks against the nuclear family since then has clearly revealed that he never truly believed it.

But God. 😃 That baby boy was born perfectly healthy without a trace of any problem. He is about 6 years old now. The doc had told her to abort the baby. When she delivered a healthy baby boy, she made sure to lovingly, but boldly tell the doctor of his error in encouraging an abortion. Docs aren’t always right, and God still does miracles.

Alastair Begg has been a good Bible teacher, but he is incredibly NAIVE about dealing with “people in the world” (nonbelievers), especially those in the LGBTQ+ crowd. Most committed Christian lay people who work in non Christian settings know that it’s not worth risking one’s testimony to attend such an event - especially one that applauds a lifestyle that the Bible calls an “abomination” just so the nonbelievers will not label the Christian as “judgmental” !! And the fellow believers I’ve known who have fallen prey to this, feel very foolish after they attended the event, most leaving early! Consider how uncomfortable a Christian would feel if they’re at the wedding reception and they witness lewd behavior from some other attendees, which is NOT uncommon in such “celebrations”! THE LEWD BEHAVIOR IS TRULY NOT UNCOMMON IN SUCH CELEBRATIONS. Psalm 1:1 speaks about not walking, standing or sitting with nonbelievers in “scornful” situations. Please fellow believers, take heed.
And by the way, if one’s gay or trans relative knows that you believe their lifestyle is “sin”, I can absolutely predict that they most likely won’t appreciate your presence at their wedding ceremony anyway! They may even blow you off, or straight out ask you, “So what are you doing here?!?” This is how “the world” is when they know you don’t approve of their lifestyle & “marriage”.

The point for many in this sad public parade is the disloyalty coming from saints who sow discord. Alistair was perfectly clear regarding “nuance”- please refer to his response. He definitely used Scripture to challenge any pharisaical attitudes for those that missed the point in this passage that demonstrates God’s desire to SEEK the LOST (not the believer). Alistair absolutely did not employ “ad hominem” or bully pulpit. He in no way implied or tacitly endorsed AS A RULE anything other than being as wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove. In this instance, he was encouraging a specific woman to do something bold and courageous in the hopes that her SEEKING her lost loved one would be seen as the kindness of God and that may bring repentance. The easiest and safest thing for the grandmother to do is to not go to the wedding… that would be no surprise at all to that given family as Alistair explains. Neat little formulas for unique situations do not always work and may often times quench the Spirit. The gift wrapped Bible may be received… the grandchild may come to dinner… the spouse may now consider the love expressed by the grandmother… etc. etc. Jesus may call this “shrewd “ as he did in the parable of the shrewd manager. These would all be prayers as she acted and agonized over her grandchild. No true believer is going to say you “should” go to every wicked celebration to evangelize…. Nuance. Anybody who has really listened to Alistair over the decades knows that he would not be calling for this. Absurd. Prayerfully we seek answers from God within the context of a fallen world. I’m so happy that Alistair isn’t a politician and is able to discern in these difficult gray areas. I pray for reconciliation of the grandchild with her Maker. I pray for Alistair and for his gifts to be continually used for the glory of the LORD. I pray the saints will be tender hearted towards Alistair and as loyal as Christ is towards all of His purchased possession.

Allister suffered a thinking error. His premise was incorrect, which is why he advised as he did.
Beggs assumed that his advice if followed would result in a positive outcome for the grandmother, the grandson, and the church.

If grandma goes to her grandchild’s wedding to join him or her to a trans person, she will most definitely be affirming that union. No matter if she says she does not affirm it, going to the wedding is affirming it. Saying one thing while actions say the opposite, just confuses everyone. She is giving a gift and attending the celebration of their union in marriage. As for keeping her relationship going with the grandchild, that can be done in everyday life. Invite the grandchild and other family to dinner. Take the grandchild out to dinner. Whatever normal things grandma does with her grandchildren……keep doing it. Missing the wedding does not have to change their relationship.

Just figured out why Pastor Begg is right. To be heterosexual does not mean that a person is straight. Heterodox means that you are "against" the established norms. The Evangelistic movement shot itself in the foot when it co-opted the term as one of identification. When the Apostle Paul gives us that list of sinners that ends with the "and such were some of you", he was not referring to homosexuals mainly but all who fall in the category of being Heterodox. So basically you have to heterodox to even become a homosexual.. ..looks like the guilt surrounding the misuse of definitions has to be shared, but those who use the media system that is tilted toward driving our conversations are also culpable.

Regarding Pastor Begg, I believe there is a premise being argued against him deserving critique, namely, the assertion that a person cannot be present at a gay wedding and not be sinfully supporting that union. This is a universal, all-encompassing position in how it has been framed. Is the janitor that happens to pop by sinning, or is the caterer's employee sinning? Is God sinning by being omnipresent at the ceremony? Let us consider a parallel concern, if a pastor was to recommend a church member look at pornography he would likely be chastised for such counsel. However, what if the member requesting counsel was in law enforcement and was working a sex trafficking case in which some of the evidence was pornographic. Is that sin to examine under such circumstances? While I agree pastors generally ought not counsel christians to attend gay weddings, I cannot make the blanket assertion that there is never an occasion where this can be done without sin. I too fear the slippery slope of compromising to the world but there is another slippery slope in the other direction and Begg is right to recognize it. The danger of holding to such a universal view is that you may call sin what is not actually sinful and this is a form of adding to God's law, if not pharisaic legalism. I think Romans 14 is relevant here, those who believe it is always sinful to go to gay weddings should not condemn one who chooses to do so with a clear conscience and godly motive. And those who go should not encourage those who cannot to follow. If Begg has erred it is in encouraging believers to go against their consciences. Let us heed God's word: "Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand" Rom 14:4. I pray this comment is taken with the grace in which it was written.

No sir, you are bringing in Romans about how the church back then was struggling with understanding not being under the Mosaic law pertaining to food. Paul writes that if a person’s conscious allows them to eat it, they should. If it doesn’t, they shouldn’t. Gay “marriage” is not something that God has allowed or ever indicated is NOT sin. Therefore, your scripture “application” is considerably inappropriate here.

    • @joshua_24.15
      @joshua_24.15 7 місяців тому +1

@@AraceliSpeed Idolatry was not allowed when Romans 14 was written and still is not. To eat food sacrificed to idols was considered by some to be "participating" in idolatry (see 1 Cor 10 for context). Yet Paul is clear that "eating" is not the issue but rather one's faith. Likewise, "going" to a gay wedding ceremony is considered by many to be "participating" in the homosexual sin. Nobody is questioning the sinfulness of homosexuality. The question is, does simply "going" to the ceremony constitute approval and therefore sin in every case? This is a matter of dispute and I believe the application of Rom 14 is not only appropriate, but essential to respond biblically. There is a clear parallel between the "going" and the "eating," neither is sin of itself but may be if it cannot be done in faith. "Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister" Rom14:13.

    • @AraceliSpeed
      @AraceliSpeed 7 місяців тому +2

@@joshua_24.15 Hi Joshua. Thank you for responding. Let’s say that your gay family member brought you a plate a food leftover from their “wedding”, or a piece of the cake…. If your conscience allows you to eat it, you are not sinning. If your conscience doesn’t allow you to eat it, that’s okay too, you should toss it because to eat it while your conscience is telling you not to would be a problem. However, to say that attending the wedding and being a part of the actual celebration where you’d clap when they are pronounced “husband and husband” or “wife and wife” and then you’d clap when they have their first dance, etc., please don’t get this confused with being parallel to eating the plate of food at your house after the fact. The Lord won’t judge you for eating the food/cake which itself contains no sin, but he will certainly not be happy about you getting dressed, driving to the venue, watching, clapping, saying congratulations, smiling, getting caught up in the emotions, etc, of this sinful union.

I like ur podcast. I agree with" self love won't save you." I do say tho, that I grew up Christian and was sexually abused when very young,3yrs old. This changed me whether i knew it or not.By the time I was 22yrs old, behind my parents back,I was smoking, using alcohol, weed and on into harder drugs. At 17 i had a crisis pregnancy and kept my child. I did not want any harm to come to her. God used her to save my life at the time. I married and had many more children.Sexual abuse as a child changed me as how i parented my children. I didn't recieve treatment until i was in my early 40's as it took that long for what i unknowingly (subconsciously)had repressed to start manifesting in symptoms(I could no longer repress)needing diagnosis.I have struggled with"self love".It is part of " love ur neighbor as yourself."Mt.22:37-39. Love yourself says the Word of God.Will you do a show discussing this kind of self love the Bible speaks of? Many abuse victims struggle with self hate or suicidal intrusive thoughts that come with trauma and CPTSD. God doesn't always grant an" instant miracle" in healing, but rather a long, progressive healing of emotions that really tests one's faith.I know the truth in word, from the Word as quoted above. But to really know it,experience it,in my wounded heart is difficult for me and maybe other Christians or non alike.Perhaps as a result of so much abuse in this world we have in society this false emphasis on "self love"Maybe the Lord allows those of us who struggle with this issue as Christians to remain humble so we must rely on God's grace, like Paul's thorn in the flesh.2Cor.12:6-7. I think the "self love" u quote on ur shirts is not love at all. Maybe an affirmation of love that is true is a better message. Like,"You Are Loved!" This also just as well opens up a conversation about the gospel. I appreciate your podcast and love how you "speak up". This takes courage and true love.Eph.4:11-16 for full context

The arrogance of the stone-throwers towards a faithful pastor of decades, like sharks who smell blood in the water, is MORE disturbing than Begg’s poor advice. By this point in the big PUBLIC controversy, fueled primarily by UA-camrs, you’d think Begg has left his own wife to be in a gay wedding or that he actually went to the wedding himself!
It’s really disturbing how at-the-ready these keyboard warriors are-complete with their camera, microphone, and requests for likes & subscriptions to their channels (not to mention the ones selling “merch”)-to totally destroy a faithful pastor’s reputation over one bit of counsel they don’t like or agree with (btw, I disagree with him entirely on the advice).
The irony is sad and palpable that EVERY CRITIC of Begg’s advice is voicing their views on a platform (UA-cam), a company that is one of the most hardcore supporters of all things leftist and trans on planet earth. You all see this irony right? I mean, you all know this I’m certain and you’ve carved-out your own (good) rationale for why you would not only view/use UA-cam but also become a producer of content on UA-cam-a partaker and contributor of UA-cam’s ultimate success as a company. Mind you, I accept and agree with your rationale for doing this, even though it would be nice to have an alternative to UA-cam.
What about other areas in which you “compromise” with the world’s values and support, either directly or indirectly, the horrific present world system? I’m sure many of you go to NFL games. Do I really need to tell you what level of evil the NFL or the NBA represents today?? How about the godless annual event we call the Super Bowl that celebrates all things pagan? Are you planning to watch it? Have you carved out your rationale for why it’s okay for you to participate? Hmmm 🤔.
How is this different from Begg carving out his rationale for the advice he gave? We may not agree with it, but how reckless of the stone throwers to castigate the man as though he has not made his views on homosexuality abundantly clear. It’s intellectually dishonest (ignorant) to go forward with all of these charges against the man on his advice as though you don’t know what his views are on these matters.
It honestly appears that many of the loudest voices out there in the UA-cam sphere either really enjoy this morsel of gossip or they’ve just needed a scandal of some sort in order to show all of their friends and followers how discerning and committed to the Truth they are! I hardly need to remind anyone in these spaces, who know their Bibles, that the elephant-in-the-room on this is their uncanny resemblance to the Pharisees in the Gospels-who likewise cared a great deal what their friends, followers, and subscribers thought of them too as they persecuted without empathy or love those who were unfortunately in their sights.
And before anyone of this ilk says “oh, but it was done in love; I love Alistair and I’m just saying this because I love him a d care about him.” they ought to examine their own hearts and the truthfulness of their “love defense” because they can say love, love all day and yet not actually show it or believe it. For example, I hardly think someone “loves” Begg as a Christian brother in this controversy when they so enthusiastically post their videos with a rah-rah tone and big neon graphics (click bait) like some sort of bozo ball sports fan talking about their favorite team or the big upset at the last game. They ought to get a clue as to how disgusting this looks not only to the church but-MORE IMPORTANTLY-to the unbelieving public. They’re not only dragging Alistair Begg through the mud, but also the glorious Gospel of Christ they claim to proclaim!
But I’m sure it matters little to the aspiring legalist who is desperate for ethos, acceptance, and approval in the circles in which they traffic (at church or online) to get their chance with the hatchet and take a few whacks at one of the few Redwoods in the forest of Christendom today! I’m sure some of them feel pangs of guilt in light of their own gross immaturity and inadequacy (as a UA-camr) in contrast to this pastor’s decades of faithful preaching to a real congregation and dealing firsthand for all these years with a plethora of significant problems and giving wise biblical counsel to his flock. He’s taught thoroughly and soundly through the scriptures for decades. He is a pastor’s pastor, and as much as this bit of advice was a bad decision, this is not the scandal that so many of these virtue-signaling and hyped-up basement bloggers want it to be.
But the larger picture of Begg’s faithfulness matters very little because they’ve got him on something! And I’m sure they wish it was deeper theologically, as in an explicit heresy they could point to that he teaches in error, but no-it wasn’t that. No heresy here; rather, it was a mistaken bit of (bad) advice to a grandmother and now he’s receiving the Reformed equivalent to the Spanish Inquisition!

11:26 There is one situation where the non-believer will point to that person as "so tolerant" -- namely when dealing with believers who are less "tolerant" ...
A bit like a Swedish Lutheran parish, I engaged on the Reformation, and they told me other Catholics were SO much more tolerant.
Catholics in Sweden overall are a very marginal group. They are not comparable even to Mormons in the US, perhaps to JWs. They cultivate a culture of live and let live.
Myself I was in the process of converting. I tried to start converting others. You get the picture.
So, if the granny went to the "wedding" there is one context where the grandson is very sure to note how tolerant she was -- when speaking with other believers (assuring them their own "intolerant" position is not even representative, because the granny proves the contrary).

Excellent points re: the Alistair Begg controversy. One wonders what those in the ceremony and the others attending would think of our love of X, His word, and His holiness when they see us sitting there. I can't imagie that they would take our profession of fidelity to Christ very seriously.

@AllieBethStuckey He was calling out those who were demanding that he repent not disagree with him. That's God's job, not ours. We need to be careful in taking Matthew 7:1-5 seriously. I can only apply that to myself, not to others.

@mktay2067 Social media talk shows and podcasts are not the ecclesiastical authority of the church. They each have a narrative of their own. Sadly they have succeeded in taking a faithful servant of Christ out of the Shepherd's Conference and other platforms. It's sad that the Shepherd's Conference leaders caved to the condemning talking heads of social media. I am so disappointed but firmly believe that God will use this blown out of proportion mess for His glory.

It seems to me that some Christians wander off the path of God into the wilderness thinking that they will go after and rescue a person(s) God says to turn away from, because they esteem being compassionate ABOVE believing, trusting, and obeying God; and they think they are showing the compassion that THEY believe God SHOULD show. They end up deceived, thinking they are more compasionate than God. Then when confronted, they react in anger because they see themselves as having 'the ultimate virtue' (compassion for those God has given over), placing their mercy above God's.

As I said in your original posting about Alistair Begg's position on the grandmother attending her trangsender grandson's wedding, I agree with your Biblically-sound points. I was friends with another woman, who was originally heterosexual like myself. Then she DECIDED she was "lesbian" after some THERAPY (that's a BIG part of the problem in today's culture ways, hint hint!) over a breakup with a boyfriend. Hmmm? She then got involved with a much older woman. Now, she knew I was a Christian. Besides being concerned about the rather large age difference (my friend was in her mid-30s and the woman she became involved with was in her mid-50s), I made clear to her my position on the topic of homosexuality, but that didn't mean we couldn't still be friends, as long as she always kept that truth in the back of her mind. She was very respectful of my faith. And the woman she was with was very nice, very kind, very good to my friend. They never kissed or did anything "sexual" in front of me. They'd come to my town once a month and we'd go out to lunch and then play Scrabble or something like that and talked about very benign subjects. Then, a couple of years into their relationship, my friend told me that her companion was transgender. SHE had just learned it, and I was SHOCKED! Her companion had the sex change many years before and she genuinely looked and sounded like a woman in her 50s. I again shared my faith and my concerns, including about the deception, while at the same time not wanting to be "harsh" or condemn a sinner, since Jesus saved a sinner like myself. But I always thought in the back of my mind, "Boy, I hope they don't plan to marry, because that is something I will NOT attend; I cannot CELEBRATE sin." Then, I think being with that transgender woman, whom I'd always gotten along with and been respectful to, started having a much worse influence on my friend. That, combined with the rising tide of pro-LGBT in the media, they started trying to change my mind on the subjects of homosexuality and transgenderism and then tried to TRICK me into going to one of those Lavender meetings (? I can't remember what they were called) which I found out about at the last minute, and didn't go. That made me mad. Things went downhill after that and unfortunately we are no longer friends. Ya know, it's this very fine line we, as Christians, have to walk, where we don't pass judgement against sinners and are merciful toward them as God has been merciful to us, but we also have to seek God's righteousness and uphold His Word. And it will cost us at times, which of course, Jesus said it would. Sorry this is such a long post, but you touched on several things I want to address. I agree that the "64,000 Rapes..." article has nothing to do with states that prohibit abortion. I went and read the original research study, and I'm still not sure what their point or correlation was supposed to be? UNLESS what they were saying is that the pregnancies were carried to full-term because they couldn't get abortions, but even then, they didn't say that? Now, you said that rapists deserve the death penalty. Now, trust me, I believe in the right to life. And I absolutely agree that conceived children and the innocent have the right to life. BUT, believing the rapist deserves the death penalty, I don't think so. And I was raped! Don't misunderstand: I believe in punishment for breaking the law absolutely, and it is a horrible crime that creates a lifetime of problems, but the death penalty is a pretty harsh judgment for MAN to exact or demand. I confess I'm on the fence in general about the death penalty, because don't I deserve death, too? But Jesus saved me, and maybe a rapist can be saved too? Peace.

I firmly believe that Alistair Bagg gave the wrong advice to this grandma. That being said he gave a very recent interview in which he said pastors must be willing to go to jail for speaking the truth that marriage is between one man and one woman. While it is absolutely okay to call him out for this, I believe it's wrong to act as if he has changed his whole theology. That is not an accurate statement. @alli Beth Stuckey

Attending a homosexual wedding shows that you are legitimizing it, and are even setting your seal of approval on it, celebrating it. You’re sending the wrong message. Same with sending a gift. It’s difficult to not attend when you love the people, but standing for God’s truth is always the right thing to do. It’s sad that Alistair Begg has given such bad advice. I hope he will repent. 🙏🏼✝️
