Hey everyone! I’m new to food storage and need some advice. I’m not looking for long-term storage (5+ years) unless necessary. My plan is to buy a lot of food upfront, secure it while I consume it, and then repeat the process. I shop at wholesale warehouses like Restaurant Depot where buying in bulk is cheaper and time-efficient. Here’s what I’m dealing with: Oats: About $10-$15 for 10 lbs, so $200-$300 a year for 200 lbs. Beans and Grains (mainly rice and quinoa): $128 - $512 per 200 lbs each per year. I’m looking at spending around $456 to $1632 a year for roughly 600 lbs of food. The average annual cost is about $934. I plan on shopping once or twice a year just to replenish these products as I have a deep frozen for my other, so I need a storage solution that can handle 3 sets of 100 lbs of food cycled through twice a year, and is repeatable multiple times for several years. From my research, I’ve found two main storage options: 5 Gallon Buckets with Mylar Bags and Oxygen Absorbers (x amount of buckets to repack 100 lbs) 5-7 Gallon Glass Jars with Oxygen Absorbers (x amount of jars to repack 100 lbs) I’ll be storing the bulk of my products in a nearby storage unit and keeping some in my pantry for regular use. My main concerns are protecting against oxygen, moisture, sunlight, etc. Do these two options work well for my needs? Are there other methods or tips I should consider? I’d love to hear from both creators and viewers on this topic. Thanks for your help!
Love this idea and I'll definitely be checking out the playlist of meals in a jar. I love the idea of using mylar bags to store this, and I think these would be great for camping meals, so I could test them out to make sure we like them, and rotate through them to avoid wasting them after one year.
I have never tried curry, but I really want to try this! I am enjoying this collaboration, so thanks for sharing and giving me inspiration to try something new!
thanks for the info on the lentils, This is a great video I love having different meals in a jar to make and add to my shelf. You explain it all so well :) Thanks for your part i n the collaboration.
Thanks for being part of the eMarchency24 collaboration!! Great recipe, I was actually super happy to see an idea for lentils. P.S. I subscribed as soon as I saw the Catan in the background, knew you were my type of person.
Great video. I am new to your Chanel from the #emarchency play list. I have not given currie a try yet but this recipe seems very easy. I think I might have to try it! One of my favorite meals in a jar is creamy chicken and rice. Jara had it on her Chanel. Everyone in my family that has tried it is hooked.
Anything curry in a jar is a good thing. I made the same thing and added a hand full of cooked freeze dried chicken to my portion. (I am not vegan but enjoy the food!)
I have almost everything on hand for this recipe, except the carrots and cauliflower. I know I will be going off script, but I will be doing this recipe without those 2 items and add them in fresh when I cook it. I don't have a freeze dryer at the moment, but I do grow cauliflower and carrots in my garden and will now attempt to at least dehydrate some this year.
absolutely! You can use any veggies you want - they might take a little white longer to soften and I would sauté them with a fast and the spices first if possible. Then add the lentils and water.
Hi! I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I found you through #emarchency24 . I love lentils, as does my extended family. Will definitely be making this in mass quantities lol. Thank you!

Thank you for your video and the wonderful recipe you shared, I love mild curry and love it that I can control the spiciness!!
Great! Definitely omit the cayenne to make it mild.
I have lentils but have never used them other than what comes in the 15 bean mix. This would be a good recipe to give them a try.
This sounds really good, thank you.
We love curry and Halloween to have just gotten a ton of lentils, so this is perfect. Thank you.
