    Nice job on your how to. About to tackle this task as well on my 09'. I'm a diesel and auto mechanic, so I possess all the tools you listed. Just a good side note, others that get through to the refilling of coolant, elevate the car at incline, use the air bleeder bolt to get rid of excess air in the system.

    How do I put the fan looking pieces back on when I put the radiator in ? Sorry I’m only 16 learning all this on my own slowly

    • @DIRTIGARAGEMODS
      @DIRTIGARAGEMODS  2 роки тому +1

      Well I know on mine the fan just slid into locking points on the radiator I'm not sure how it would go on yours but I imagine it would be the same and I'm pretty sure there's a video on UA-cam on how to install that fan you may have to do a little bit of research but it's pretty easy

      Yeah you want to make sure you get that hood latch set in the exact spot that it was in because otherwise your hood will not open again

    Brother you could have replaced the radiator without removing the bumper cover just pull headlights assemble out remove hood release send cover complete access after that

      Water pump or heater core, heater hoses is going to be the next things to check. And if that's not the issue then you may have a head gasket issue

      You need to release the air bleeder valve with the car running and wait until coolant begins to come out which ensures all air has escaped system. 10mm bolt front left you just need to loosen it don’t remove.

    • @DIRTIGARAGEMODS
      @DIRTIGARAGEMODS  5 років тому +3

      Yes it should be the same, the body and the frame is the same design as the 3.5 L just a different engine the inlet and outlet for the radiator might be slightly different but taking it off is still the same long process, thanks for commenting I hope this video helps have a wonderful night

      @@oodles86 yeah when I done mine, I had hit two raccoons in the middle of the highway and that's what caused my initial leak but however my car was not overheating it was just losing a little bit of water, the only reason why I did it was to be prepared for winter time because I'm sure that's when it would have overheated the most LOL and my main job requires for me to have a running vehicle so if you live in an area where it's going to get cold over the winter either plan on carrying you 10 gallons of antifreeze or get it done because it's going to be an expensive fix but yes thank you for watching and if you subscribe I appreciate that also

      @@DIRTIGARAGEMODS yeah my display kept reading low coolant but I couldn't find a leak, but one day I was jacking it for an oil change and it slipped off the support and dented the radiator.

      @DIRTIGARAGEMODS  5 років тому +1

      @@oodles86 yeah one of the design flaws in the G6 at least on mine is there is no lower support for the radiator so it leaves at vulnerable for anything to hit it, I really think that's a bad design on GM's part but however the car is a really good vehicle, I plan on doing some other uploads here in the near future I'm just waiting for my money flow to start coming back in and once that happens I will be uploading a few other videos, I think I have just about fixed everything that has to do with this G6 LOL but thank you for subscribing and watching you have a wonderful night I am going to go to sleep and good luck

      I've had a few people comment on this video and tell me that they didn't have to remove the bumper cover to get the radiator out, and I don't believe that you have to remove it but I did it simply for the fact that it made it easier shooting my video and at the time it seemed easier than doing it any other way, I hope this helps

      Yeah I'm not sure either, I don't own that car anymore so I couldn't even look to tell you if there was another way kind of wish I did though I miss that car it was a good vehicle, once you have your issue fixed you shouldn't have too many other troubles out of it, mine ran smooth after that

      For my car it was necessary I had other repairs that I was doing as well as replacing the radiator, and I'm glad that I did it this way being able to actually place the camera where I needed it without having an obstruction in the way made it a lot easier to shoot the video yeah I probably took the longer route but all the same it's educational to somebody out there at least the 32,000 Plus people that have watched my video
