Today, I asked a professional artist ShindoL (creator of Metamorphosis) to teach me how to draw some wholesome and "not-so-wholesome" things to see just how much hard work and dedication goes behind the art of drawing manga... things did NOT go well for me.

i'd argue ahegao are an overrated artform
Ahegao are mindlessly easy to draw. And yeah, I say that as an artist with over a decade of practise but it was easy even then

Shindo said how henti artists earn less because of scans on internet in his interview with Joey, but he could definitely make some money on the side as a content creator. He could stream himself drawing manga or he could genuinely do educational henti drawing streams. He’s a likeable guy, dual language too. Or he could do let’s plays and people would watch

A good point! I know as an artist myself that I'm hesitant to put myself out much on social media (and the few art things I have it's not much and I don't regularly update).
Most of my hesitancy comes from fears of burnout and stress due to chasing algorithm numbers, which I've heard is common among artists (as well as the fears of navigating the general toxicity on the Internet/social medias).

Boredom does a hell of a number to an artist. I'm not accusing him of being into that, or being curious even, I'm saying for an artist (of any sort; 2D imagery, writer, sculptor, fashion designer, ALL artists are like this) the desire to branch out and try something new is a regular part of keeping your skills sharp. For any NSFW focused artist, doing a bit of catering to a less-average taste is an outlet for that yearning that still pays the bills.

@@Assassin21BEKA Yes. That only adds to my point. Dude didn't stick to choosing from one of twelve plots. As insane as it is, there's an audience for what he saw in reality, otherwise it wouldn't happen to people. He branched out into the rest of reality.
Joey draws really well. Also, as an artist I can confirm that I also had the realization that I had the power to draw boobs. I was not responsible with that great power

This is the powers my friends have and I'm trying to achieve.
That realization just arrives, when i designed a female character, even if it wasnt for that purpose, the thought and realization just crossed my mind, not even for any lewd reason, but just having the power to do it its like unlocking a new skill irl.

Something I find interesting about Shindo is that describes sexualized forms not just in a fetishistic way, but also as a form of story telling, that the way a characters body looks can tell you alot about them, how they hold themselves, what part of themselves they show off, or conceal more, and even how he likes to start with the sillohuette and work his way inward is a fascinating approach. Even describing how he does his Agehao faces which some level of character and story-telling like where the eyes are, is the expression tensed or relaxed, happy or abrasive, is just really cool

This is something that happens very often. In my group of friends there's this guy who is the most wholesome creature I know of... Until he starts writing. I've read some of his cosmic horror one shots and something's really wrong about him.
I'm still trying to get him to publish something.
As a former art major this looks like it would be fun. Art teacher's usually dislike manga artists. I know I've seen the arguments. Aki would like it she would want to draw tentacles.
Why do art teachers not like manga artists
most likely because of proportions. art teachers strive for more realistic styles whereas manga artists typically emphasise features (if that makes sense)

i don't know if i'm just too far deep, but it's just something so serene watching a skilled illustrator like shindoL do some sketchwork of henti. shindoL's voice is also so calming too.
As an artist my biggest tip to anyone is to look at something and break it down into shapes
And for the spicyness of the pose, gestures is really important too

So if I want to draw a dog, I start with a rectangle?

This man has the best mechanical pencil ever! The Pentel GraphGear 1000. I love this series. Anything from the 0.3mm to the 0.9mm. Even the elusive 0.4mm.

Joey, drawing is all about trusting your eyes over what your brain will tell you or try to correct what you just saw, wrapping your brain around know small steps to get to the whole final picture, and finally... a shit ton of practice. You can do it. I believe in you.

Unless he’s just late to upload it. But it’s not there yet. So don’t waste your money. Also the links to most of his previous uncensored videos he made in the past are also broken. He doesn’t seem to care.
@@aeternus2036 I know other people with Patreons that had a lot of their patreon exclusive content on vimeo and it ended up all getting deleted so creators have to reupload onto other platforms and that takes time (if they even have the originals). IIRC from when I was a patron for Joey, he also used Vimeo too, so that's probably why the old stuff is broken.
