- The Acolyte trailer is out! We normally don't do reactions, but I've been so excited for this series, and since we actually got the time the trailer would be released, we sat down to record a full reaction! I hope you enjoy, a full breakdown will be coming later today!

My buddy just gave me a good idea as to what he thinks they could be going for. He thinks that the story of this show is going to be similar to how Fives tried to warn the clones and Jedi about what was coming with the chips in their heads but since Fives died he couldn’t do it. My buddy thinks it’ll be similar here with the Jedi, figuring out the mystery of the Sith coming back and they all die when trying to get the word back.👀
Them all dying is the only way to be loyal to the canon, but we shall see. This is Lesley Headland, I have little faith in her
@@DavidPrice-ml2zv not sure how you can say you have a little faith in her when everything that she said so far about the series has been promising. It seems she understands lore and the ways of the Jedi. Given this is also a time period that hasn’t really gotten any exploration she has free range on some things.

@@DavidPrice-ml2zv She's consistently said she's a huge fan of both the High Republic and the old EU, aside from Filoni she's probably the biggest nerd we've had to helm a Star Wars project. If anything, I would imagine this would make her more likely to stick to the lore?
Darth Tenebrous is alive and Plagueis would've been just born at this time in Legends.
I would be shocked if Tenebrous doesn't show up by the very end. Would be a less intrusive way to link the story back into the main saga. EU fans would go nuts and casual viewers would just get to see a cool new sith.
I forget, who was Tenebrous' master? Perhaps we could see them together 🤔

I was telling my gf about this and she rolled her eyes so hard when she realized the bad guys are named Plaguies and Tenebrous 😭😂
I don't remember much but didn't tenebrous have a secret apprentice that plagueis killed after his master's death?
The possibility of the Sith returning at the height of the Jedi lead peacetime is a serious & scary accusation. The Jedi would be wise to use a third party to help them in their investigation such as friendly Republic Senator, *Hego Damask.*

The opening lines are very emblematic in some ways. "Close your eyes. Your eyes can deceive you. We must not trust them." The Jedi Order believed they were so in tune to the Force that they ignored what was right in front of their eyes. How long had they done so?
A thousand years and some change because they had a Sith among them during the Clone Wars.
But it's true, your eyes CAN deceive you. Palpatine is a perfect example, presenting himself as a kind, noble leader who is doing his best to temper the more extreme views of the Senate. But it was all a façade.
@@andrewjenkins9965 Very true. But, to paraphrase Qui-Gon, "...not at the expense of the moment." I don't think Obi-Wan was the only Jedi who could have benefited from this wisdom.

@andrewjenkins9965 What you said made me think of how the Jedi could get lost focusing on other things (...elsewhere, elusive) at the expense of the moment right in front of their eyes. It's something that I think speaks metaphorically to their blind spots that would prevent them from seeing the Sith had not only returned but had never truly been gone. (It's something I think Yoda internalized after the fall of the Order. In ESB and TLJ, Yoda admonishes Luke to keep his focus here, now. To stop looking away to the horizon. But, I digress).
I was originally struck by the opening lines of the trailer because of the poetic way it mirrors the Order. Telling Younglings, the future generation, to close their eyes, to not trust them. There's a certain arrogance in believing you only need your feelings, your intuitions, to know truth. By the time of the prequels, the Jedi had come to believe the Sith could not have returned without them knowing. That the Jedi would be aware if the Senate was being controlled by a Sith. That an item didn't exist if it weren't in their records.
I think it's good Jedi wisdom to not ONLY trust your eyes. But that doesn't mean that you should completely ignore what they're seeing either. I feel like they started to allow bad habits to form out of good intentioned wisdom. Your eyes can deceive you. Maybe your feelings can, too. It's one of the ways that I think Palpatine used the very ways and nature of the Order against themselves.

I've been waiting 25 years for a Phantom Menace era full scale story and this is close enough ( for me )
I wonder how they’re going to explain the shift back in time that this show takes place in to those who don’t have the time to read every book, magazine, comic, etc.

I highly recommend reading the comics by Cavan Scott and Charles Soule.

I have a feeling all the Jedi who see the red lightsaber die. Is the women with the knife not the sith because that would make since if they are the same person. Uses another weapon to stay stealth until forced to revel identity to survive
It would be fun if at the end of the series the Jedi detectives find everything out and die while bringing the info to the council!

I love the emphasis of actual martial arts, very few times do we see Jedi thinking on their feet when they don't have their sabers.
Thanks, Mollie and Alex! 🌑 Star Wars Holocron and Wookieepedia have told me we've seen 'Mae', 'Sol', 'Qimir', 'Jecki Lon', 'Yord Fandar', 'Vernestra Rwoh', 'Mother Aniseya', the Wookiee 'Kelnacca' and 'Indara' in this trailer. Looks great to me.
Hope it's more in tone and at the quality of Andor. Seeing as its not a name brand character the Execs likely allow the creatives more freedom, fingers crossed.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

We all wanted this to be about the Sith's point of view. If this is only 100 or so years before the Prequel trilogy we should Darth Plagueis as the Sith Lord at the time.

It would be wild if this series has a Rogue One styled ending where all heroes perish at the hands of the Acolyte and or secret Sith Lord. Yoda definitely should involved at some point to find the teachings of the Rule of Two

Like Darth Plagueis, I wonder if the Sith master is trying to get to the "killer" dark side user before the Jedi do, either to eliminate or to train them?
There were only two Sith in that timeline. Darth Plagues or Darth Tenebrous
Do you think the trailer showed only footage from the 2 episodes premiere ? (Do we get red lightsaber early ?) Or does it show stuff from the entire season

One tiny detail I noticed is how there is no Lucasfilm logo in the trailer. Usually, a Star Wars trailer starts with the lucasfilm logo; or it fades in from black, shows us just a little tease, reveals the Lucasfilm logo, then continues on with the rest of the trailer. It's strange how it starts abruptly and doesn't give us the logo.
Tinfoil hat time: Darth Plagueis will be introduced as the Master and mastermind behind it all. We may learn why he was considered “wise”.
I mean, we could get Darth Tenebrous. He was made canon through a legion of Palpatine's followers named after Tenebrous in TROS.
Remember Tenibris will be alive, and his master a red male Twylik we know little else about his master
@@Iron_Blood_Enjoyer1933 What if we start with Tenebrous (and his master?), and in the latter seasons, they build up to Plagueis. Like the whole show could take place during many years, kinda like HOTD

It is completely possible and acceptable if they aged plagueis up a bit. Barely anything in the canon would change if you made him a decade or 2/3 older
I must say I loved the trailer. It seemed a bit like the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon of Star Wars.
I love the Squid Game guy as a male Asian Jedi Master, as a homage to samurai movies.
The acolyte means follower, so who that turns out to be they are following is the mystery. From the trailer, this is different enough I can’t wait for June 4th (intentional it’s a month after May 4th?) to see where the show goes….

I cannot wait. Its gonna be so interesting to see how it all unfolds. I mean the Sith were all but extinct at this time. If there is one thing that the Jedi always underestimated about the Dark Side is the art of deception. The mastery of the Force Cloak and Mirage abilities which allowed for the rise of the Sith in plain sight when the Light Side was so overwhelmingly powerful. It seems to me The Acolyte has a vendetta against the Jedi Order and isnt necessarily motivated by overthrowing it. At least not yet. The Acolyte has to be just a rogue Dark Jedi who is not fully yet aware that the the true Sith still exist. That will probably be a major cliffhanger for the finale.
I dunno... _Banes Grand Plan_ dictated that the Sith stayed hidden for a thousand years... Someone tell me I'm wrong here... Theres just not enough here for me to get excited to be honest🤷🏽♂ Some kids, a Jedi or 2, and a red light saber.
I'm excited for a new SW show because I love SW's but this teaser (thats what this is) doesnt have me holding my breath until June.

From the cast information, it turns out the main antagonists (Dark Siders) are a coven of witches led by Mother Aniseya. I am curious if Aniseya is a subordinate of the Sith Order.

I'm glad we're seeing more Jedi martial arts! I love the idea of unarmed Jedi combat. It just makes sense for Jedi to have a non-lethal combat skill, since killing shouldn't be their first resort. Lightsabers are great against blasters or energy staffs/batons, but a Jedi pulling a lightsaber against someone who is armed to a lesser extent... that's pretty aggressive for the Jedi, especially Jedi in peace time.
Do we think the path of the open hand/closed fist is making a resurgence in this series??

Probably the first Sith lord that the Jedi Knights are going to battle. It's going to be 47 Ronin with Jedi Knights. I feel Carrie Ann-Moss' character could be a Sith Lord or one of the sith Lords.

So, I am excited but apprehensive for this show. A story like Cruella or Maleficent where the 'villain' is the star is appealing and I want to see a Star Wars take on this. As a bunch of ppl are probably wondering, how will they explain a Sith presence when they're extinct? I will give this an honest open viewing though. Will we see descendants of the Path here?
Super excited for it! Only thing I am bummed about it is I will be on vacation when the first two episodes drop. Hopefully my hotel room will have a tv that I can watch Disney + on. I would hate to have to watch the first two episodes on my laptop

idc what the doubters say, im pumped and hope the show matches the trailer...this can be big! need to brushen up on my high republic stuff but this gives off great vibes...glad you guys go over the high republic so i can catch up and catch up with high republic content...think that will need to be done to know who some of these characters are?
I wonder if the Padawans at the end maybe get to close to finding the Sith and they have to be “Take care of” by a stronger Sith. Hopefully Plagueis haha
