    Very interested to see how this one turns out - so much promise but so many questions to be answered still. Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate Shammy's house vs my house - Mine's a haunted derelict hut compared to his!

    They have planned for at least 1 server wipe during "Early Access", that being when they actually launch the game.

    The fact that they plan to do a full wipe after early access just kills it for me. This is not rust or a battle royale game. I'm not grinding 40 levels of blacksmithing and paying 30 bucks to beta test a game. That is a shameless cash grab and more like a crowdfunding game if they do that. This is one of those games that could linger in early access for years too because it needs a lot of work from a small indie studio. This is a hard pass for me until the full release.

      Yes, if they release I would very much like it to just be persistent with upgraded features, new crafts, new materials or dungeons to explore etc. I would not want a wipe to happen. Wipes in Escape From Tarkov? Fine. That's fun. Wipes in Pax Dei after spending 50 hours crafting a village, if not more hours? No thank you.

      Where did you hear they plan to do a full wipe after EA? The only things I can find for sure are they are pretty sure they will have to wipe during EA due to updates breaking certain things etc. The closest thing I can find to what you are saying is "....but there is no chance we won't do at least one before the release..." which when taken in context is referring to updates that would simply require it due the the changes to the game/code. I can't find anywhere they've said they will wipe at the end of EA

    • @haywood4299
      @haywood4299 4 місяці тому

      @txchris3802 it was said by a developer in discord back in Feb, they are keeping it quiet because they know it will reduce sales. This is going to backfire if they don't clarify it before EA.

      @@haywood4299 This was said May 10 2024 "> Hey I was asked to clarify wipes and EA: we have said there would be wipes during Early Access because we know some updates will require wipes. We will try to avoid them, but there is no chance we won't do at least one before the release...
      > And, to be honest, we will probably have to do some while updating or adding a core system - ideally a partial wipe that would impact the characters or the plots but not both. In most games in EA, you sometimes lose your progression or have your saved game become incompatible. Again - we'll avoid this if we can, but it will be hard in some cases. If we do require a wipe, we'll let you know why it was necessary.
      > Once the game is released, under current plan we don't do wipes. Nonetheless, there are still two cases where a wipe could happen: a huge technical issue that breaks the game beyond recovery (where rollback is impossible - we don't see this happening but weirder things have occurred) or when the Divine will be bored by the actual Creation and will decide to flood it (this one is pretty unlikely at the moment but who knows 😉 ). Thanks for reviewing my house but OMG you could have waited till daylight to review it lol. Sooooo frustrating to see it all dark. Especially since just as you finished the tour it was sunrise!
    Anyway some comments on your discussion. I did around 30-35 hours. I got the key late on Thursday evening and spend Friday evening then most of Sat & Sunday to get a decent build done. I did a little exploring into next zone and got copper, tin and iron (as opposed to impure iron in starter zone) to unlock the extra benches that needed copper (alchemy, etc).
    As I was solo I didn't do any combat with camps of mobs as I just didn't have enough gear or damage output to take them on solo so I didn't unlock any of the stuff they dropped. It does make me think that being in a loose alliance larger clan where people can group up to do the more intense combat or where you can have people who want to craft gather and be the guys that make the best gear whilst the guys who want the pve/pvp focused combat go for that and bring back the materials for the crafters to supply them with gear. It could create a mutually beneficial gaming loop where the combat guys are less interested in levelling their crafting and they get the gear to go fighting whilst the crafters level their crafts so win win. With both sides able to dabble in the other from time to time.
    You mentioned possible lag. Asmongold's community built a massive castle - I messaged you the link on discord - where he had several hundred people in game massing around him as he toured the castle. He commented it was running really smooth and a lot better than many full released games, which he thought may be down to just how well the unreal 5 engine is performing.
    Quests - it has been suggested that players could have a recipe to create a notice board station that could be placed in the plot - eg: in a village centre of a clan or outside a solo players plot. That notice board would allow players to post requests and rewards. Players could complete the (re)quests and get the reward - eg: get me 500 sapwood and here's a iron axe. As the game progressed this sort of thing would be a boone to newer/less developed players as they could get decent rewards for doing player created questing, and provide the resources to the more advanced players who want to be farming higher level resources. So it could be a way of creating a win for different levels of progression, further on players get the basic resources without the time sync, less progressed players get rewards that progress their play for their time.
    Trading system - this is due to come in the next opportunity we have to play - whether that takes the form of a beta test, or an early access is yet to be announced. I do fully agree that the key thing here to entice players back is whether or not there are wipes if it's a week or month long beta with a wipe I'd try it but not go as hard, which I did because I knew I had only a few days to get in so just dedicated the weekend to it.
    Anyway a full trading system is planned and they have said that will have in game gold currency so that whilst no trading or gold was in this alpha it will be in the next release. They have stated that gold will be very important for trading in game with ways for players to earn gold to then spend trading with other players. The details are being worked on and this is why I think the next time we get in it will be perhaps a month long beta test so that they can see how their view of trading actually works out, and get an opporuntity to change it up if it isn't panning out how they want before they go early access with no further wipes.
    They have suggested monitisation may be done in the form of a fee to maintain a plot, with the option of purchasing multiple plots. They hinted that perhaps in game gold could pay for that giving the possibility of some players paying to have plots with a monthly fee in real cash and others earning gold in game to pay for thier plots. They said they may implement this in the form of a token you can buy that exchange for in game gold that is then used to pay for your plot maintenance. As many of them are ex-Eve Online developers they are aware of issues and whilst monitisation is important avoiding pay to win is also vital as nothing will kill a game quicker if people feel thier time is not rewarded.
    The other side of a fee for plots is that it allows plots to be freed up if a player is absent and stops playing so it keeps the world alive by keeping the available land open. That would prevent having a plethora of small camps where people tried game and decided wasn't for them. This would perhaps work with the initial payment including first months plot fee then after a month if you aren't still playing the plot gets freed up for others to claim. Obviously this is where they could learn from other systems and avoid the plot camping that happens in games like FFXIV.
    Resources - the base resources are in the starter zones, the higher level resources in higher level zones and in camps, and yes this game does already have MMO style dungeons and raids plus if you like pvp then the PvP zones have pure versions of resource nodes that give you a lot more resources but at the risk of loosing it all in a full loot style. So for the likes of you and I we'd likely have to seriously balance up whether our dislike of that sort of pvp - where it's you die you potentially lose your gear is it worth the rewards. Whereas for others they would love that style of play risking it for greater rewards and faster progression or getting stuff they can trade for.
    Skill levels - it's definitely a lot higher than 20 as my woodcutting got to 38. I suspect it's 99.
    Camps, Dungeons and raids - where they are different from other MMOs is that there is no fixed party size to do this content - take as many or as few people as you think wil get the job done. they won't tell you how hard they have tuned bosses or mobs you learn by doing and dying :)
    Other Social Sandbox MMOs I understand some of the developers have come from Eve Online which is a social sandbox MMO.
    My thoughts on fixes:
    - absolutely address some of the stack sizes and storage sizes. It's not too bad at present for slots and I prefer slots over weight system but absolutely have bigger stacks and make chests hold a bit more. You didn't notice but the standard chest holds the same as the wicker basket at 10 slots. If the standard chest was 20 slots and cost say 50%-100% more than it does now to build with larger stacks that would entirely solve the problem of too many chests all over the place. That said the small basket is 5 slots, bigger basket is 10, small chest is 10 and medium chest chest is 30 and larger chest is 40 so it may be that it was a bug and the small chest was meant to be a step up over the basket and be 20 slots. Having some small inventrory slot improvements earlier would be good too eg: the robe could have pockets giving 5 slots. Further up you create a pouch giving extra 10 etc. that would make a smoother progression line in expanding inventory.
    - some menu grouping would be good, some QoL improvements moving stuff from inventory to storage with a key press for example - sorting stuff we've seen in multiple such games.
    - pinning recipes or adding recipes to a shopping list ala Satisfactory would be great
    Anyway that's all for me in my short couple of lines feedback :) Thanks so much for doing the tour so I have a permanent visual representation of the house to remind me what I did. I throughly enjoyed my time and shout out to @chirzy who provided me his unused key hope you feel better soon as I know you'd have tried it out if you'd been feeling better this last week.

      Yeah agree with all you said there - monetisation will be interesting and cool to be able to earn it - hoping you get one plot included maybe with your purchase but additional plots you can buy or earn - would be a good system I think if it was priced reasonably.
      Agree with the chests too - I think you're right and probably was an oversight and should have been 20 which would be much better and fairer. I think I never crafted a normal wicker basket - just a small one! Gear adding pockets for inventory expansion though is a cool idea for sure!
      I really like Palworld and Icarus that have a button you press and all items you have in your held inventory that is also in the chest can be moved across instantly - like a quick dump after you've been gathering resources - very handy and speeds it up. Searching/sorting and larger stacks would be perfect too with pinned recipes - oh I really wanted that. The amount of times I would forget and open up the menu to re-check the recipe!
      And the quest board idea sounds super cool - that, along with trading, would really open this up way more and would add a tonne of potential.
      Excited to see what they do next and how they take on the feedback they'll get. Will have to check if I got a questionnaire or if it's like a message on Discord or on their website kind of thing.

    For solo players I think increasing the inventory stack size and increasing the slots in the storage chests would go a long way to helping things. i think it's a blend of Valheim and the crafting variety of Final Fantasy 14.

      We are getting an extra 8 slots 1 row of storage for EA. During the creators weekend, we saw the first pass of changes to stack sizes and some were huge pegs stacking at 100 rather than 20 for instance saving 4 slots right there. Flax at 50 rather than 20 means 2.5 times more flax can be gathered on a gathering run etc. and creator weekend was on an old build the first EA build will have further changes such as the additional inventory storage. They have also said there will be inventory slot expansion through gear but the system isn’t ready yet.

    Are you really comparing the end of an Alpha test to how the game could run. That’s wild speculation.

      Graphically it's running well now, can only improve hopefully and further optimisation. Server performance/Lag and object load in the game world however? Yes, well aware that could lead to performance issues and I highlighted as much in the video too. That said, this is why there will be a beta still and more testing to be done I guess!

    I think this should be free to play, being a sandbox mmo with no NPCs there is sooooo much potential for microtransactions that actually make sense unlike the microtransactions we get in some games these days 🤷

    • @proroguebear
      @proroguebear  3 місяці тому

      it's now confirmed it'll be $40 starting price (up to $100 for the top edition) and that's for the Early Access 'access'. Once that period of at least a year is over, it'll move to a monthly subscription. That's the plan at the moment anyway.

    • @CanisoGaming
      @CanisoGaming 3 місяці тому

      @@proroguebear I know, that's what I'm responding to with my microtransactions only proposal because MANY people never like to pay a monthly subscription for a game but are much more comfortable with paying some amounts to add specific stuff, we've seen that with many games especially RP servers in GTA for example 😂, if they go that route I really believe most people would totally be fine with it.
      For instance Mortal Online 2 is subscription based & it made many back out as I was one of the early access players, a lot of people from our clan just went poof lol

    This game is gonna be a mother of all MMO games and pvp will be a big part of this game devs want it to be part of the game all pve and pvp in one balance play and in the future they do plan in moving pvp into the safe zones of the game which would be interesting and its a medieval game pvp is a must lol. It it wasn’t the case then they should just made it a building exploration game……..

    • @shammylevva
      @shammylevva 5 місяців тому +2

      They do have very high hopes and I definitely hope those plans play out as this is the sort of potentially long lasting game I've been waiting for. As long as the PvP is entirely optional and doesn't gate anything I'm happy that those that enjoy PvP will have something for them. Particularly if it's meaningful PvP. By that I mean that there are rewards such as faster resource gathering, risking someone taking it from you by killing you.
      What would kill the game though as it has killed many others is any non consensual pvp, if I've spent hours building my base I absolutely DO NOT WANT some random kid who thinks its fun to destroy someone elses work just because they can or even worse because their daddy's credit card unlocked good gear so they could run around being childish. Or they are just a generally mean minded adult who gets their kicks by annoying others. Lets face it that's how a lot of PvP is in games, people being obnoxious and running a mile from genuine one on one or equally matched groups.
      That form of PvP is the absolute polar opposite of social, it is extremely anti-social and is exactly the reason people log off never to play again because they get grief from other anti-social players. I'm old enough that I no longer have the negative mind health attitude that is characteristic of young men up to around mid 30s of needing to "prove myself" that I'm good enough. I know what I enjoy and what I don't and know the futility of that negative mental health state.

      Yeah, PvP will be opt in from what the Dev's seem to suggest on their FAQ on the website. Will be a core part of the experience though, which I'm slightly concerned about because as someone who doesn't mind PvP now and then, I just don't think the combat system is good enough. Animations, input delay and netcode all seem off and the fighting itself seems janky at the moment. I think this was the first test they had that had a PvP server though so no doubt loads of feedback and time to fix it or improve it.
