I should add that I live in Michigan’s upper Peninsula, where we get a lot of snow and an awful lot of cold. But with my 2024 tundra, I went with the BAK revolver and I’m happy with it so far
After seeing this one installed, I’m even more in favor of the OEM Toyota that came installed on my 2024. It sits almost flush with the truck and, even most importantly, has that one extra piece (3+1) that allows you to fold it and “stand” it against the cab for a truly full access to the bed (supporting hardware is included so driving in that open position is still possible). For the same price it seems the OEM should be a no brained choice.
I have a BBac cover on my 2018 Tundra. It is flush mount and I have NEVER seen a drop of water in the bed even through hard rain. Great cover, will withstand 400 pounds.
You should’ve got the REALTRUCK BAK REVOLVER X4S HARD ROLL UP TONNEAU COVER. I’ve had the Toyota hard cover and it gave me a tennis elbow from using it too much. My truck is a work truck and I open up that bad quite often to get tools and parts out of it and honestly it was a very low quality from Toyota because the rubber used to get rips seems on the connection between the panels. The hard rollup cover is way better option.
I Actually had that one for a while. It did the job well and served its purpose. But i did switch to the Bakflip MX4 i like the looks and flush mount. And i can fold it up out of the way creating a little more bed space while still being attached to truck. The cover you have is a nice solid cover just personal preference.
I used to have the flush cover on my 21' 1794. I replaced it with a diamondback HD and sold the old one. The diamondback HD's great, you can put heavy loads on top of it up to 1600 lb and it's a smooth finish, and also like the fact that I can open the cover without opening the tailgate. Great investment. And I love your cover Mark, like the fact that it's thick, looks heavy duty. I do like the way it unlocks and locks towards the back of your cover. My old one used to have a cable to grab onto to unlock it.
Had this same cover on my 2020 Tundra had it for a year and decided to go to the backflip FX4 only difference was the FX4 set flush with the bed for a cleaner look and a not as heavy as the extang but both were good covers imo!
I have lomax on my 2022 tundra trd pro best cover in my opinion costed me 1060 that’s total with tax and installation by dealer and best part removes in seconds and put back in seconds and folds just like this… the texture is the same matte finish like the plastic side covers on top of the bed gives a perfect match its new for lomax
I have the Toyota OEM cover and I like it better than the model you show. The OEM appears to be manufactured by Back Flip, I am just not certain. The advantages of the OEM cover over the brand you show. 1. The OEM is flush mounted for a much cleaner look. 2. The OEM features brackets that drop down your rail so you can still use the Toyota bed rail cargo tie downs with the cover. 3. The OEM features one handed cable release on both sides and a separate release for each panel unlike the cover you show. 4. The OEM Toyota cover features prop rods for the last panel allowing it to be secured up against the back window so you can expose almost the entire bed. 5. The OEM features water drain tubes the use the existing bed drain holes for water management. 6. With separate releases on each panel you can use drive with 1, 2, or 3 panels flip up and locked in place. The OEM cost $1,200
I hope it works out well for you. I had one on my 2017 Tundra and had some issues with it. In hard rains, etc. it did leak at points. It also would not stay centered over my bed no matter how many times I tried to adjust it. It would always slide to one side. Also, in cold, freezing weather, there were several times that the rubber gasket material on the side would peel right off and I would have to use adhesive to reattach it. Personally, I would never buy one again.
Just a heads up, the Bakflip MX4 does not fit the 2024 1794 with 6.5 bed. I did the install myself and then took it to two different RealTruck installers and it does not fit tight enough side to side. The bed has a taper and the cover is more narrow than the bed once you get to the tailgate. We tried to double up the shims and it's still too narrow with a 1/4" gap between the bed rail and rubber seal of the cover. And the lock would only latch on one side because of the difference in width. I shipped it back for a full refund and got a different brand which ended up fitting perfect.
I have the 2.0 version. I really like this cover couple of small problems is that I see the cover is bubbling in areas and it does fade a lot over time. I suggest you buy a good black trim restorer. When it snows here I really don’t have to worry about the weight of the snow that sits on the cover I think yours is more secure then mine from thefts. Mine has the spring loaded handle in the back that secure it down I must also add mine is about 9 years old so the small issues I talked about is probably expected

I have this tonneau with my '23 1794. Very pleased with it.

I have the same tonneau on my '23 TRD pro, loving it!

Extang makes some quality covers. I have the Trifecta 2.0 and have no complaints
I used to have that one. Loved it

I went with OEM as the newer Bakflips don’t allow the rail system to be put back on. Works great

I like how it connects to the bed rails. But I don’t like how tall it is over the sides there

Have to know how it keeps water out of bed during Automatic Car washes.?
I’m not a fan of automatic car washes, but i can hit the seams with a high flow hose and see how it does.
When your lease on truck is done, will you remove cover to put your on next Tundra? Hopefully the bed doesn’t change again.🤔
Yeah, it will move with me
