The reason why international companies lump the UK and Ireland together is you can market to both as one entity with some price localisation and a local voiceover in adverts for Ireland. The British don't even mind if the voiceover has an Irish voice in the UK. For most successful Irish companies the obvious first place to expand has always been the UK. Paddy Power, when it decided to expand, didn't choose Greece as its first port of call. It chose the UK, used the same marketing strategy and the same tactics. Look at Flutter now.
