Thank you for the valuable information Dr Yesudian. My question is whether the effect of Bicalutamide on hair is temporary. Does the hair gained, fall off, once we stop taking the medication? Or is it permanent?
Thanks for your kind comment! Its a good question that you mention. At present, we do not have any long term information on this treatment. It has been continued long term in all the pile studies till now. We do not know if the hairs will fall away if stopped. We may get more information on it once more long term studies are conducted.
Sir.. I am a 41 year female. I was taking finasteride 5 mg since past 5 years. Didn’t ever feel any side effect. However my dermatologist just switched finasteride to bicalutamide 25 mg. Is that okay? And what changes should I expect when I stop finasteride and start bicalutamide. I will be very grateful of you reply ..
Generally, most dermatologists, including me, prefer not to use finasteride in women. Bicalutamide may be a safer option, which may be the reason why you were switched. The effects of finasteride lasts a few weeks, so the biaclutamide could take over by then.
@@kyokyo6241 There are no direct comparisons between the two medications yet. Generally, dutasteride may be considered to be a bit stronger but there is no data on it.
@@DiscoverDermatology basically I was using topical finastride for 5 years with no problem. I switched to oral then after 6 months I started to get these mental side affects where my head didn’t feel good at all and I had to stop because it was bad. I stopped and it went away. I went back to topical finastride and after 2 weeks the sides come back. What do you think happen ? How can after 5 years with no problems all of a sudden I get these side affects where I can’t take it anymore.
I guess side effects from medication can occur anytime and at any dose. Its hard to predict. If there are side effects with a certain treatment after trying it a couple of times, an altreative medication needs to be considered. @@Nick-pd8xl
@@DiscoverDermatology I guess that makes sense. Just because I never got side affects from the start doesn’t mean it will never happen as the body changes. The issue I have is not much alternative to finastride if I’m losing ground now.
There are other treatments that can used. Oral minoxidil is a commonly used medication. Here are a couple of videos on it. ua-cam.com/video/JurJK_sSJAY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/0cqHMW7hsgM/v-deo.html @@Nick-pd8xl
Sir how long does it take for bicalutamide to work for acne ? It’s been a month since I started this for hair loss but feeling breast tenderness.. will it subside with time? It will be nice if u can answer ..
Most hair loss treatment takes about 4 months to work. Breast tenderness tends to settle with time. Sometimes oral minoxidil is added to oral bicalutamide as its been reported to be a useful combination. Here is a video on oral minoxidil. ua-cam.com/video/JurJK_sSJAY/v-deo.html

Excellent topic sir.
Thank you.
What's the average price of this molecule sir?
Is it available in India?
It is commonly used in the UK, so I suspect it must be available in India too. It costs about £50 for 2 months, which is quite a low price in the UK.
