Great memories. Left Garrowhill for Toronto in 1953 but nearly everything looks the same. No trams though. They were great. Barrachnie Inn has remained unchanged. Thanks for this!
I enjoyed your video. I was born in Belvedere Hospital and spent the first 5 year of my life in London Rd near Nuneaton Street. But I know hardly anything of the East now. What I like aboot the video is that the images become more & more unfamiliar the further East we go. So much has changed in Glasgow since the early 70s when I attended London Rd Primary School. I love the music you have chosen. Can you tell me the name of the extraordinary squat building at the 9:43 mark? All the best to you!
Politics aside you've done a great job brilliant piece,s of music one of my favourites Blue Nile and Mr Kerr and co what's interesting these buildings, places will be altered and demolished in times like all things no longer exist important thing you recorded important aspects social history i was brought up in this area so its good you took the time to preserve all this some being negative on this misses how all humans spirit,s can strive no matter where they live remember cheers
@FightTh3P0wer Great point! I simply needed to get out of the UK as the blatant use of poverty (by HM Gov) and the rewarding of criminal greed, made me so angry. Our UK industry has been sold, and we're now dependent upon the Square Mile banking revenues...that isn't an economy...that's a casino! Best wishes
I get rather annoyed when considering that Scotland is sitting on more gas and oil than anywhere else in western europe, and yet folk have to live in such 'clinically deprived' conditions! Mind you, some areas of London are outrageous too. I was born in Easterhouse and now live in Sweden; but I shall always consider the Scots the salt of the earth! The Scots gov ought start spending the oil and gas revenues at home. Appreciate the vid.
@robertmclean85 royal wedding will cost economy 5billion and the taxpayer 20 million you could feed the entire continent of africa for one week with that money. i hope your proud william and kate
I grew up there in the 60s and 70s. Great to see some very familiar sites again. Happy times.

The last time I travelled that route was on a tram car in 1953......an old Garrowhill schoolboy!
Tinseltown in The Rain by The Blue Nile from Glasgow. Unmistakable voice of Paul Buchanan

Forgot to ask when did you leave ?
This is not the east end I grew up in. All the great people and neighbours all gone.

The East End is far more vibrant than this depiction of dilapidated buildings, twisted metal & a collection of snp signs. 🤷🏼♀️
