In this episode of The Hat, Florian-James visits the Adams Brass factory in Holland. Together with trumpet hero's Chistian Attunde Adjuah and Teus Nobel, he dives in to the stories and the science behind the amazing instruments that Adams has been making over the last 30 years. Moving from a small repair firm of classical Poukes, to becoming one of the worlds leading brands in Custom instrument making.
    Christian:
When trumpeter Christian Scott was growing up in New Orleans in the late '80s and early '90s, his grandfather gave him and his brother Kiel extra reading assignments each week as a supplement to their assigned schoolwork. If the young students failed to finish their books within the week, their grandfather would say, "Yesterday you said tomorrow..." It was the older man's way of emphasizing the importance of recognizing the work at hand, and making the most of the available time to complete it.
In the end, the two brothers graduated at the top of their high school class at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts. Armed with a full scholarship, Christian headed north to Berklee College of Music, where he earned two degrees in two years and eventually launched a music career that has positioned him as one of the great innovators of his generation. But along the way, Scott has learned that there's still much work to be done -- not just within the jazz idiom, but also in the larger world in which jazz exists. Yesterday You Said Tomorrow, his March 30, 2010, release on Concord Jazz, reflects the legacy of some of his musical heroes of the '60s, and at the same time wields the music as a tool to address some of the very important issues of contemporary culture.
    Teus
Being surrounded by family members playing musical instruments, there was no doubt Teus Nobel (1982) was eventually gonna play one. At the age of 9, still unable to play his fathers trombone, they gave him a trumpet to start off with. Which he never let go ever since...
In 2012, Teus launched his first solo album "Flow". With his first single 'Shifting Expectations' hitting the #1 slot in the iTtunes Jazz Chart and getting massive airplay on dutch radio. Since then things have gone very quickly. Being hailed as a "fresh new voice" in jazz (Parool - Oct 2012) and called out Radio 6 Soul&Jazz Talent, Teus made many appearances on radio and tv shows and shared the stage with some of Holland and Europe's biggest acts (Qeaux Qeaux Joans, Caro Emerald, Kyteman Orchestra, Frank McComb and many others).

I think jazz masters should have unique, 1 of a kind instruments. Christian's horn is very eye catching.
