I played all three alphas. The last one really clicked with me, and it filled all available free time. For me, that just amounted to a few dozen hours, but I got a very good impression of the game. Ara is, in my opinion, excellent. This is the real competitor to Civlization I have been waiting for. :-)
I'm really glad to see this game on Game pass. Gives me an opportunity to try the game out risk-free. Hopefully it wins me over and scratches that 4X itch while we wait for Civ 7!
Can we bring back Civ3's evolving costumes for leaders as the eras pass? I know Humankind sorta had that, but I would rather have Gahdi with a bowler hat than some rando with some outfit im not familiar with.

Ara is releasing in 4 days and I still feel like I know very little about this game. Definitely going to watch a full play through after launch before buying this game.

So annoying how many games increasingly focus on MP lately. Fun if you are 15 or 20, but once you are a bit older you just can't consistently get a group together anymore
"Civ7 is going more MP than ever" Where did you get that? They don't have any MP in place yet, it'll be tagged on to the main game as such a small player segment warrants.
Civ 7 seems to be focusing on console type of MP play, mainly co-op and small group. It has a limit of 5 players if you play any era start except modern. And the devs really pushed the co-op MP concept at PAX, saying it not a competitive mode but playing cooperatively with friends. Also, the micromanagement is gone to make it more accessible to players new to the civ franchise.

Looks good! Im looking for something with more in depth cities and trading than civ. Love civ and looking forward to 7, but this is very much on my radar.
I'm really excited for Ara. Over the past years it's been great to see other Civ-likes (also great to see that term being used more) popping up to introduce new concepts and ideas to what had become kind of a stagnant genre. Multiple games in a genre is always a good thing for innovation. The original Civ after all was itself a new take on older games like Avalon Hill's Civilization and History of the World.

I'm sad about that game tho. It says build your own history but if your already been placed somewhere u don't like then the words that are said aren't true. While civilization games u choose where to settle. It brings out the "hey I choose where I start. Where I found my city's. The more I hear of this, the better it becomes. I was wondering about the combat, but it seems like it plays a bit like Endless Space 2. The citizen simulation sounds nice too, but I worry that it might take a toll on performance on the latter stages. The eras are nice, and there seems to be quite a lot of leaders to start off, although some choices are a bit weird. Overall I'm really hyped for this game, can't wait for it to come out to play.
The zoomed-in graphics are fantastic - but I never played any 4X game mostly zoomed in. Everything else - NO! For me CIV VII is much more exciting, maybe because I am playing CIV since Versaion 1 and played CIV VI for around 2000 hours before it became so boring to me that I stopped. There is nothing that I really liked of what I've seen of ARA (I've seen different videos about it) so I will wait for CIV VII.
The common thing between civ 7 and this is that the leader models look like shit though. Like seriously, 2024/2025 u expect me to pay for these half-assed leader models bruh....But ARA's UI + map looks nicer so i guess choosing the lesser of 2 evils would be ARA? Really hurts when its a genre you love but they give crap effort for the main aspects that make the image of the game. Like just spend maybe a few days on UE5 or any other modeling program would churn out better looking characters than whatever was presented.

" while ara is cool I feel like it's missing that very first couple of important turns including settlers which for me makes the game for me saddening.😢
Not sure about the gameplay but the art direction is much better than civ
The more I hear of this, the better it becomes.
I was wondering about the combat, but it seems like it plays a bit like Endless Space 2. The citizen simulation sounds nice too, but I worry that it might take a toll on performance on the latter stages. The eras are nice, and there seems to be quite a lot of leaders to start off, although some choices are a bit weird.
Overall I'm really hyped for this game, can't wait for it to come out to play.
The crafting mechanic really makes me far less enthusiastic about this one. Would not pay full price for it.
Çiv 7 just looks like another assembly line product. No real passion. Ara looks more like how I wanted civ to turnout.
Thought you've given up talking about this game lol
Like just spend maybe a few days on UE5 or any other modeling program would churn out better looking characters than whatever was presented.
the biggest problem with Ara is tha , its too realistic, and complex with graphics and gameplay for my taste , and also the battles look automated.I think , I will wait for Civ7.
EVITA?????
Battle in this game just joke
This game looks fun and I'm going to try it but this video is excruciating. Just get on with it! Stop dragging out EVERY explanation.
I play civ since civ 2
Civ 6 is complete shit, they made the game about managing policy cards, governors and builders
This game looks 10000 times better than what civ is now
Are there any realistic sounds in the game? That awful background music you played will surely put me off playing it.
Roman Empire vs Italy !? hahahha
Do these leaders even talk? I assume not.
At least they look better than Civ7 leaders in my opinion.
civilization switiching mechanism of civ 7 already making me not buy it
