Tying Up A Luxury Super Yacht (Captain's Vlog 94)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 вер 2024
- We arrive in the beautiful town of Calvi (Corsica) and the Deckhand Jason is going to talk through the process on how we tie up the stern of the vessel to the dock. We then proceed to extend the gangway and connect the shore power cable to the dock.
Captain Tristan Mortlock is an award winning Super Yacht Captain with over 15 years experience. He started his yachting career in his teens and now runs one of the most successful charter yachts in the world. Tristan is currently serving on Motor Yacht AWOL, a San Lorenzo SD122, built in 2009. AWOL is a multi award winning yacht and her crew take a lot of pride in their work.
Captain's Vlog is about educating interested parties on what happens onboard a Mega Yacht, Super Yacht and the yachting industry. To share the life of yacht crew and life at sea. The BIG shipyard refits, paint jobs and marine engineering works. To travel some of the worlds most beautiful destinations.
The first owner of the Super Yacht AWOL was non other than Mr Piero Ferrari himself. The wheel house still contains the original Captain's chair with the Ferrari emblem.

What a professional crew. Impressive to watch in action !
Hey Alan, seems you’re having a binge watching session. Great to see you’re enjoying the videos 😎🙏
@@SuperYachtCaptain Yes I am. I am really enjoying your channel loads. Also getting quite an education. Thank you. Being a retired Mechanical Engineer I never will quit learning. This is all awesome stuff. you never know, I may meet meet you & the crew some day !
the flare you guys have oh damn your crew looks good. an absolute spectacle for anyone watching
great video very informative
Hope to see you aboard Captain, you are a true professional.
Thanks Jay, are you also working on yachts? all the best
What a crew, what a captain... Excellent job of docking a super luxury yacht.
Thanks Don for continued support, you've been with the channel for a long time now. Thanks again
@@SuperYachtCaptain Yes, I have been watching your channel for a very long time. I've enjoyed every video you've produced and love the content. Excellent job, Captain!
Richtig gut macht Spaß zuzuschauen , bitte mehr davon !!!! :)
Great to see the mooring from the crews perspective. Once again the communication comes across as one of the most important skill sets between all crew.
Thats objective number 1: Good communication.
Nice video, no drama, very professional. Andy UK
Thanks Andy.
can vaguely hear them lovely diesels clacking about, what a lovely noise
Great videos. My son is on M/Y Clarity (currently in the Bahamas). While we keep asking him what his day to day duties are, he is to busy to provide much information.
You give a no "BS" explanation of all areas of the boat.
I was in the US Navy, and I think that got Tanner interested in sea duty from my stories......(I'm so jealous of all of you. All I got was life on an aircraft carrier during the "Cold War")
Also, being the biggest F1 fan, your Monaco videos hold a special place!
Thank you.
Thank You Capt.Keep the videos coming
Definitely diggin' the chef's socks. Should be added to the official uniforms...
It is his uniform. everyday he wears crazy socks. its is thing.
Just can’t get enough of super yacht captain, Justin Mr Mortlock would love to give any member of your crew the day off. I may be a little senior at very nearly 70 but, I would welcome the opportunity to act as ‘deckhand’ for you all.............. if only this industry had been open to me when I were so much younger. Go AWOL God bless you all.
Great video Tristan and Jason
This one was great. . a really good indication of the 'vibe' amongst this crew. . great chemistry. That's the difference that turns a group of people into a 'crew'!
And tied up next to Liberta - A very interesting vessel. 4 stories of exploration with a rugged look with the forward facing windshields. As if aNordhaven mated with a commercial shipper
James Clark I was thinking that was HUGE Nordhavn... Gorgeous vessel!!
Love watching it
Back from vacation to find three videos!!!
Enjoy!!! 😇
Nice Job Captain‼️👍👍🛥 Vinny 🇺🇸
Thanks Vinny 👍
I am in awe of the professionalism of both the crew and the VLOG's Tristan.....nice bit of skippering too ;-) you manage to make every episode interesting, and the vessel always looks immaculate.
The team clearly work as one, and it comes across as a happy place to work which is, (as you have said), a crucial part of your job.
Way to go AWOL, you deserve the recognition and success you receive........ I am sure you have many returning clients.
I enjoy my virtual travel with the crew :) for someone that may never have such an experience on a super yacht it is nice to feel as if i am part of the virtual crew. Hoping to see more cool places. Thank you Captain.
Always great to hear. Thanks for the support. All tech best.
A fascinating video, your crew appeared to accomplish the smooth docking with a relaxed, easy air - just getting on with it without any fuss. Which is a clear testament to their skill and to your leadership, and also no doubt many hours of practice too.
A lot of practise and communication is the key to consistent successful docks. :)
Great job and thank you for sharing
One of your best videos, thank you!
Awesome, Thanks :)
I dig chef's socks.
Lol. So good South African crew on the Awol. Started watching your vlog in lockdown. Now my favourite on youtube. Wish i was young. My dream to go on a yacht trip.
Slav seems to be great guy, quiet, but always exactly where he needs to be, doing a great job... This goes for the rest of the crew as well!
Great video. Thanks!
I am enjoying backtracking through all of the Superyacht Captain videos, but have to say that it's great to see more of the crew getting involved.
Excellent detail, it’s those little details that give us lot, sitting in the garden of our semi-detached in Sussex, a real insight into your world. Thank you so much. Stunning port by the way.
Thanks for watching, I hope you continue to enjoy the future videos. :)
That was great fun. Thanks. USN, retired.
Always happy to hear. Happy that you're enjoying the channel. :)
Simple awesome. I can’t stop watching. The team appears to be a finely tuned machine, always calm and very clear with the information. I’m hooked, captain.
Awesome guys.. I keep playing the lottery so I can have you guys on my new yacht!
Brilliant.
I am a 14 year old I love watching your videos would love to see more widows on the yacht toys and the chase boat good luck in the future
The Med is so much more beautiful than anything we have in the US. So happy to hear Barbara’s voice!😀😍😍😍
Congratulations on passing 40K. Yet another example of a professional at work so smooth and no rushing around thanks for the videos cheers Ty
As always, thanks Ty for your support, it really is appreciated. All the best. :)))
Stunning Port. Great video showing the AWOL crew in action. Thanks for sharing!
Always a pleasure, thanks for the positive feedback.
Nice teamwork guys!👍😀
That’s what it all about. 😎
Really enjoyed this. Great to see everyone mucking in.
Thanks :)))
I gig those groovy socks chef has on. And thank you for your channel. To be able to see you and your crew and AWOL cruising around the med is great.
Those socks are definitely winners. great t hear that you're enjoying the channel.
Very interesting video.
Another great video and it was great to see how the team work together. Your Vlog shows AWOL to be a super yacht in every sense.
A beautiful port. Wish you a nice and warm weekend.
Thanks and to you. 😀
Ohhh this is getting better, always been great but I'm liking it more 🙌🙌
Thanks Paul 😇
Really good, and aspiring what you are doing.
Im a much older, but less experienced Capt than you.
I like that you're showing all aspects of the boat. I found the stern shorelines and gangway information quite interesting. Thank You
Tristan, I always find it interesting that even though you are the captain you are never afraid to do the little things. Taking out the garbage indeed. Love these how to videos.
This was a great video....Thanks
Thank you. its always fun making them.
Another great learning video Tristan thanks
Liked this video. Showed more of the crew in action. Diferent prospective. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the great feedback Paolo. :)
Excellent Video as always TY
Cheers Ty 🙏
yachts for sure is different than my industry. Very well dressed professional and neat. i work on tugboats in the US and have been looking into getting in the wheelhouse for a yacht company but i dont think the yachting industry would want a rough tugboater like myself. lol
Beautiful place. Well done.
What a professional crew. And people say young people are irresponsible. Nice job!
I really enjoyed this video - great to see all the action at the back for a change. Great job to you all. Love your video’s. Great crew, great attitude! Congrats Captain.
Way to go, trusting others to video from different locations giving new perspective on the workings while you are at your station making things happen. Thank you
Hi Tony, Happy to hear you're enjoying the vids.
Absolutely loving this channel, what a fantastic video
We need more of Michaela though 🤞🏼
Agreed. Michaela, you heard what the viewers want ;)))
Andy CFR And Barbara 😍
Very slick......
Hi Tristan.. You have created a really informative and inspiring channel. Well done, as I’m an avid viewer. A little disappointed to see the deck crew during docking procedure were not wearing their life jackets. Putting the handrails on to the boarding ladder without one is risky. If he had slipped in the process and hit his head, then falling into the water, who knows where he could have ended up without floatation.
Always enjoy watching your videos! Keep up the great work!
Calvi ist ein wunderschöner Ort. War ein paar mal mit dem Segelboot in diesem schönen Hafen ...wünsche schönes Week End👋 Enjoy 😉🇨🇭🇨🇭
Excellent. I liked Chef-cam!
Hi Tristan, i was a captain's mate for 8 months in my early 20s. On a private 128' Broward motor yacht. On the east coast of the United states. NH Ma RI FLA. It was a great experience.
That my man was brilliant
Awesome, thanks. :)
Another great video. Thanks 👍
Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Docking in different ports can be tricky and difficult. Great Job Captain‼️👍⛴. Vinny 🇺🇸
thank you for sharing incredible moment on yacht God bless u capt and crew
I do hope Barbara was using the GroundGrab on the ground line 🤔😂😂😂 GG forever
We need a video on the Chef's wardrobe 😀 ...does he have any stripes to match the polkas?
Love that idea :)))
Hi, I have to love your channel which gives a very good description of a different type of job than most people have. Now I have hammered through every single video/vlog you've posted in about a week and I can hardly wait for a new episode of Captain's Vlog. Must say it's tempting and leave the life im living to day and try something new like yachting when you see how you all have it on board and what you do for a living...:) Keep up the good work, stay safe and Cheers...se you in the next episode!
Awesome, thank you.
Thank you
Quero assistir mais vídeos iguais a esse! Muito bom 👍🏼👍🏼
Seems like your team is happy and it shows.
Hello Captain , firstly my compliment for your Vlog. Today this video remember me many souvenir . I am the son of Capitan Benedetti the personal helicopter pilot of Avvocato Agnelli ( historically man and owner of Fiat group). Today looking this video i remember how many time we spend time in Calvi and my father land with the helicopter on Yacht F100 . I will contact u in ur email to share with u many nice things about it. Thank u Capitan for this fantastic Vlog.
The gangway just stops in mid-air. Are there steps leading up to it? I saw a single step up but then there was quite a gap between the top of that step and the gangway.
I enjoyed watching how the crew work in setting up the yacht. They all have a job to do and they did it very well! Well done, Captain!
Loved it. I feel like I'm there. very cool.
The black AB yacht behind AWOL is my dream yacht 😍😍 greats job crew docking 👍🏽
That boat belongs to the fashion designer Roberto Cavalli.
All the best
I have just recently found your channel and love the level of detail you provide, giving a different glimpse of the life! Cheers!
Buzz Allen thank you Buzz. All the best 😇🙏
To all the crew nice job
Great teamwork.....
I guess 2000 subscribers more in just 1-2 weeks. Great job Captain !
Yet another great vid thank you
Nice socks there chef😉
they're the best socks hahahaha :))))))))
Great video. Really liked watching the whole process.
Great, thanks Robert. You've been following the channel for a long time now. thanks for the support. :)))
great teamwork on docking. always a pleasure to watch SYC
Thanks Barbara, really appreciate the positive support. All the best
Love this channel Capt.
Thank You Frank. All the best :)
This I can watch all day fascinating
Lovely Harbour 👍
Excellent as always Captain, well done.
Cheers.
love the lekker crew...lol .....South Africans make the best crew....
You make it all look so easy Tristan. I have a 36 foot Searay, And sometimes in the wind it drives me crazy trying to dock
Very interesting seeing all that goes on with the crew during this process. The Captain did a very nice job of backing into that fairly narrow space, with the help of the first mate of course. Were there guests on board during this posting? If so, where are they allowed to view this? Oh yes, the chef's socks were very interesting to say the least!
The guests are either on bridge deck or sun deck.
That spot was huge compared to others he's shown docking into. Sometimes he's coming in with a foot or so on each side.
Great video, but would love to see more of “exactly” what Slave does with beginning to end with setting up shore power and why, also to see entire exact way they set up dock lines from beginning to end and see how exactly they use the winch to tighten lines and which lines go where in area by winch? Keep up the great videos!
Lekker guys.... never get gatvol of the videos... well done all on AWOL
Loved it as always 👍
Great video! Tidy swift mooring. Congrats on 40k!
Cheers Tom, we’re all waiting for your next vid 😎🙏
Huge sigh of relief when Chef appeared. Initially thought, "If you're behind the camera, then who's behind the wheel?'
As normal another great video showing great team work and communication .... anybody would think the Captain had anything to do with it ...lol
The crew make the captain look good ;)))
Regarding the yacht to your stern Capt Tristan, it looks like "Freedom".. pretty new yacht R. Cavalli
Freedom it is. Cavalli's new fully custom Cerri 28 meter launched in 2018. Really interesting different kinda of yacht designed by Spadolini and built of alloy..
