  • Driving the A82 to Fort William
Another Drive With Care video. This time I'm in Scotland driving from Glencoe to Fort William. In this video I'm about 10 minutes from Fort William. Not too many hazards until I get into the town although there is one driver in front of my that presents as a hazard.
This demonstrates the need to keep your hazard perception and awareness honed!

My husband and I are planning a visit to Scotland and Fort William this fall. We're from the U.S. We have decided to "train, taxi, and bus" everywhere we go in the country. I can empathize with any drivers who have never driven on the left, particularly on a winding and narrow road like this one. We've decided not to be one of "those hazards." Not driving will probably make our trip less stressful for us and more enjoyable for everyone on the road - HaHa!😊

Aw that’s considerate of you. I would encourage you to think about hiring a car once in a while when you visit as there are some wonderful locations not served by public transport. That being said (and there are many vlogs on UA-cam on the subject) I don’t think you’ll have too much problem getting around. Please excuse my short temper in this video. My suspicions were that the driver in front of me was probably using his phone!

In Canada if you are driving 20 km under the speed limit you must have your 4 way flashers on. Lots do no this however, especially non nationals. Polite person would have pulled over to let you pass. I drive comfortably in both countries at the posted limit. My advice if you can't handle it, take a bus or train.

I’ve had a lot of stick from my video about not being tolerant to that slow driver. But I agree with what you’re talking about in Canada. Regardless of the country, there seems to be to me a lot of drivers who are not fully aware of the rules or of courteous driving!

While driving in the west highlands in summertime be wary of new cars with anything that resembles a rental car sticker and give them a wide berth. Expect the unexpected, it's usually about to happen.

drove that stretch in October going the other way to Oban from Ft. William, as a driver from America I can sympathize with that driver that was ahead of you. I probably wasn't much better🙂

I'm pretty sure I was just getting exasperated! It probably showed 😁 It's a lovely drive though!

Same, coming from Edinburgh. Curbed our rental hard when a tour bus was 2' into our already undersized lane.

Such a beautiful drive Tudor Gorgeous Lochs and mountains. Which reminds me of one of my favourite drives in North Wales on the A5 from Llyn Ogwen up to Bethesda in Bangor. Stunning

There are more trees on this drive though
      - I feel your pain with the over cautious driver especially when you can’t overtake!

You have to think about the tourist first time driving this route and most likely on the other side of the road then they're used to. Very frustrating for those of us who are regularly stuck behind them, but we just have to suck it up.

Indeed. We don't own the roads...we share them with other road users.

😍 I wonder if you could do a HGV lorry version of this?
There's lots of new HGV driver's that need advice! You're so informative, we need more videos like yours for bigger Vehicles xx

I don’t have an HGV licence but I’ll bet that would make a good video!

You have a lot of patience! That blue car would have been tooted at several times if it were me in the driving seat. Some great restraint!!
