Following on from the previous video, I do the return trip, but this time taking the A2, so a little bit of dual carriageway driving.

Country Lane drive from Canterbury to Faversham

A request from @annadeighton4835 to drive from Faversham to Canterbury via the country lanes has brought this video about. As I was already in Canterbury, I decide to do the trip the other way around. And despite the weather conditions of the wake of storm Bert, there were a few moments of debris and a diversion, it did turn out to be a nice drive in the end. #driving #drivingvideos #hazardperc...

A Scenic Drive from Deal To Dover in Kent
Waffle as much as you like. Passed through Denton today, heading to Folkestone. Another enjoyable video.
ha ha I shall 🤣👍
That mini roundabout with no junctions is part of the calming measures on that road I believe.
Ah that would make sense 👍
👍
Feeling nostalgic watching this vid. I used to live in the UK and had taken that route a number of times, while going home for holiday or road tripping across the continent. I like how the ferry staff guide the cars into correct lanes, so that upon the arrival you disembark on the appropriate side of the road depending on your destination. I remember the A16 between Calais, Dunkerque and Belgium border being bit challenging to drive, due to heavy freight traffic and frequent junctions, also the whole area is very industralized and not very pleasant overall. The town of Dunkerque however is perfectly nice and I often made a stop ther to stock up on French wine and cold meats.
👍🏻 Made it 😂
30 seconds to spare 😀
A very pleasant driving..
Thank you 🙏
This is the easiest test route i've seen in my entire life
What about continuing the A25 adventure with dorking to Guildford
I’ll have to do it sometime.
I’ve come across that cat’s eyes sign myself many times and said the same thing lol
🙀😀
No it wasn't the old Faversham. It was and still is the village of Ospringe. Other than that thank you.
What was?
@@drivewithcare_uk I was commenting about Ospringe being the first Faversham. It is highly likely that there was a Roman settlement in the area where Ospringe is now. Whether it was the early beginnings of Faversham is questionable. This in no way takes away from your surprisingly interesting videos. Look forward to seeing more of them.
That’s an excellent piece of information. Thanks for enlightening me 👍
I’ve been in the back of ambulances many times too also with my dickie heart
Yeah we don’t want to block the progress of an ambulance do we 😉
Had my driving test in folkestone today and passed with 4 minors. Just want to say your videos are top quality! Thank you :D
Well done on passing your test. Congrats 🙌
Was that on a Sunday as dorking looks dead quiet there, that’s my home town too
No I think that was a few months ago now.
@ ok
very nice epic trip
ive been told you do not stop at those little island crossing things not sure what the yare called but its at @20:45 ish you only stop for people if its a proper crossing and the reasoning behind this is because if they are on the middle island thing they are safe while a crossing doesnt have the island so you have to stop for them
Yeah that’s what I thought too. They are kind of like a safe area for pedestrians so that they can perhaps cross half way across the road.
@ 2.20 you mentioned a 15 minute drive. No, not even if the road is clear and one ignores the speed limit! Perhaps 20-25 is more normal. Longer when behind a driver who ignores the speed limit and sticks to 30mph (there are some, especially in the winter evenings when it is dark). When it snows the road can become a "white out" with difficulty to see the edge and the start of the fields - but also very beautiful. The area around Challock roundabout (A252) & beyond under the trees is higher up, at over 500ft (150m) elevation, when there is freshly fallen show in the trees it is transformed into a winter wonderland. One evening I almost hit an animal, got the dashcam footage of it darting in front of me, caught in the headlights! I always turn right into Trinity Road, rather than go ahead you getting caught in congestion explains why. (truth time, I have commuted alomg this road M2 - Ashford since 2013, mornings in the direction you are driving, evenings reverse). Gos you were lucky with the traffic, normally much heavier when I'm commuting. Lucky you!
Hi there, here Italy. 🇮🇹 A very relaxing video.I love the countryside of Kent. I was there before.
Glad you enjoyed
Straight forward run to Ashford on the A251 and I agree with you regarding the first stretch to Challock. It's made worse because the road is unusually narrow for an A road. Then you have some HGVs daring to go as fast as possible, urgh 😒 The second stretch is much better and pleasing to drive. You could have stopped, paused the video and grabbed a few Chestnuts on the left 🤪🤪
Ha I should have stopped eh?
Definitely not a route i have taken before, along those nice country lanes from Lydden to Folkestone. I became more familiar once we arrived at the main road junction, and then continuing past the Garden Centre. Even though the weather was somewhat overcast, it was still a very pleasant drive onwards to Folkestone. Many thanks.
Why do people think others are interested their inane chatter???????
I don’t know. Many have said they enjoy it! Perhaps those that don’t shouldn’t watch the videos?
I love the 257 to Canterbury, generally not overly busy. Lots of left/right junctions needing careful attention due to some drivers making risky emerges. There's some dodgy trees 6'30" to 8'00" not happy driving that segment when windy e.g. Storm Bert 🤣 The Abbey on Tudor Travels 🤔 look forward to seeing that 👍🏻
That 257 seems to get shorter every time I drive it. It’s not a bad road actually.
Strictly speaking, minor roads are classed as C and D roads.
👍
30mph limit applies to build-up areas (with street lighting) which yours isn't? So, its a 60🤔
👍
If I recall correctly Kent County Council has the habit of putting certain road marking in red to emphaise their presence to drivers, and remind that the marking is there for a reason - for safety. With all the roadworks on the A299, A251 etc this year I have been using country lanes more than ever, whilst I am OK with the roads all the bends and dips and hidden sights the danger of oncoming traffic worries me, I always use dipped headlights to help others spot my car. Also, the much of the time traffic was busy, with the rollercoaster aspect (fast, slow, stop, fast, slow etc) meant fuel consumption took a hit. My commute is Faversham to Ashford, try the return journey without using the A251 between Challock and Faversham, much more fun!!
I'll have to try those alternative routes from Ashford to Faversham. Once you get the routes in your head they are probably hassle free and much more scenic.
My partner is teaching me to drive. We go out most weekends driving all around Kent and East Sussex and fortunately I’ve not killed us all yet!
Excellent news. Keep going 👍
60mph is the top limit on a country road.
Straight forward drive and hazard free. Best advice with regard 999's, don't contravene any law unless specifically told to do so by the police. Example, driving onto the path or going over the stop line at traffic lights displaying red lights. You could get nicked 😩
Yeah I’d heard of people getting booked for going through a red light to make room. Crazy as I’d read you are not supposed to hinder the emergency services either!
At 13:44 they are filling in the marina to allow more vehicle space to handle the increased EU checking process. (Entry/Exit System (EES) checks).
Ah thanks for the update 👍
What a lovely garden at the beginning. It must be very nice to live in a peaceful village.
It has its pros and cons 👍 We did get snow last December and I did a little walkabout with my camera. Quite magical! ua-cam.com/video/lzVnPf_pUp8/v-deo.html
@@drivewithcare_ukit’s nice to get away from the “real” world isn’t it. Folkestone just gets busier and busier. And who remembers when Hawkinge was just a main road with a few side streets 😂
A nice trip although incredibly long, through country lanes of which i have never journeyed personally. Barham i am familiar with, Stodmarsh i am not. At least the weather was favourable. I will find your other videos as soon as i get the time. Many thanks all the same.
Oh no you have just got rid of the squeak and now your clutch!
Crazy eh? I’ll probably run it until it breaks 😀
Hello. Enjoyed watching the video from Folkstone to Dover. Would you do a video driving from faversham to Canterbury please. I prefere B roads rather than Dual carriageway. Thank you
I’m pretty sure I’ve done such a drive already - taking the road through Boughton Under Blean. Although there are many B roads aren’t there?
Nice to see you’ve got yourself a chap Tudor. Going to catch up with the rest of your holiday. ❤
A chap? I’m not following you! That was my son when we drove from the U.K. to Sweden 👍 That being said, feel free to check out my other channels for more Scandivideos 🤣

@@drivewithcare_ukand there was me thinking you had pulled a toy boy you handsome devil 😂😂😂

That A20 Dover bound can be a nightmare, you were there on a good day. I agree with your comment about the speed restrictions, I was there a few weeks ago (Folkestone bound) and saw the restrictions in operation(Dover bound). Went home via Canterbury to avoid the lines of parked HGV's in lane 1. This road goes up to 500 feet above sea level, at the higher elavation fog (low cloud) can be a problem hence the warnings ... in the past there have been fatal accidents. PS if you had shown the route home I could have popped round for afternoon tea!! (only joking of course!!)
Yeah that stretch o f the A20 can be hit and miss if you're hoping for a clear run. It definitely pays to do a quick traffic check before hitting that road.
That was a trip getting out of the car park to the main road exit, geez. Tudor, you mentioned towards the end of the drive that the marina was filled in. Would that be the one adjacent to the now gone De Bradleigh Wharf? Agree with your comment about errant drivers, there is many out on the road, it is better to remain calm and be stress free and enjoy your drive, sometimes difficult 🤔
As I turned right towards the marina, and then looked to my right, what was once an area filled with moored boats, was being reclaimed. More developments on the horizon I guess.
It sounds like a noisy clutch release bearing to me.
Ah that sounds likely- thanks.
👍👍👍
You actually lost me when you entered Swanton Lane and all the way to the 260. I believe the speed limit ought to be lower than the National Speed Limit, 60 mph way to fast in my opinion. Nice drive to Folkestone 👍
Lost you? How could that have happened? Perhaps a boring stretch of road and you hit fast forward?
Drove some of this today, another enjoyable video.
Hi Tudor in Whitfield there's new bus route starting and be interesting to see a journey from Whitfield to Dover priory via Burgoyne heights which will have some of the new bus traffic on from 17th November so you think you could show us a car journey that's similar to the new bus route
That’ll be worth checking out 👍
Thanks, Tudor. That's my fix for going to Folkestone this month. I hope to be there in May.
If you make we should try and do a video together 👍

Super run Through the lovely village of Barham. Just beginning to get to know it more now, since friends of ours have just moved there, and i wanted to get a better viewing of the travelling when we visit. I usually bypass Barham anyway each week, on enroute to Folkestone. So i am pleased about that. Thank you very much.
This is a back route of sorts, that i have not experienced before. Very pleasant drive however. It might just be off my usual route normally, but picturesque never the less. Good weather which made it all the more pleasant enough. Thank You.
Thank you for your time. Just watched you drive from faversham to Whitstable.
Thanks for watching 🙏
