Having used the 4D, one of the main benefits for me is the batteries. I can't even imagine having to deal with a gimbal battery, monitor/recorder battery, camera battery, focus motor battery... If one of those goes down the whole system goes down. To have only one battery to need to worry about is so freeing.
Nice assessment. I agree about the PROSSD. I have the mount but I haven't pulled the trigger on the drive itself because its longevity in terms of read and write cycles has been called into question. Instead I am using CFexpress Type Bs which, as you say, restrict me to certain codecs but at least work with my other camera. I also have an issue with where the 4th axis sensors are placed. I use a vest and arm or occasionally a shoulder rig to help with the weight and struggled to find a way to mount the 4D that didn't block those sensors. It would also have been nice to be able to control Sony power zoom lenses using the handles. I aborted using the DJI focus motor to zoom after 1 day. So, I would stop short of calling the 4D perfect but I have no regrets.
All valid. The Pro SSD is completely a money grab. I have 2 CFexpress cards that's record everything but XQ. The Camera is perfect for my use caese but I understand yours brings challenges. I questioned the sensors until I couldn't name a better placement so figured where they are is for the best. Cars were invented and roads were built, cars evolved and roads followed. Most cases it's not the Ronin4D, the accessories need to evolve for this next evolution of Cameras..DJI was first but not the only one. Rumors about Canon doing the same
Sorry just seeing this. I don't use it with the camera. I use it for editing but I was saying it would be clutch if they partnered so it could. You can use USB C connection ‼️
@@filmlanthropy ah okay thank you for clarifying that, I’m buying a 4d in 2 months so looking all the ways to save but get the best outcome the express cards aren’t that expensive so may go that route
Long winded, but as a viewer I still felt connected to what you were delivering. One thing you didn't talk much about was audio input severely lacks at the moment. You only record external audio? I do enjoy mini xlr to a decent enough pre-amp like in the some of the other cameras mentioned. A headphone jack input is huge disappointment, and the audio expansion port is still nowhere to be found, correct?
Thanks for the view. Still getting my feel for more efficient videos. Yes the audio recording right now is still via headphone jack. With my equipment and post production i have had no audio issues. Can be better ofc

I have just taken delivery here in the UK of the 8K Ronin 4D combo which includes the SSD and DL native zoom lens (17-28mm) its a beast!!!

It’s actually the quality of the microphone. The audio sounds like it was recorded from the camera (Further from Voice).
