I'm in the UK and took delivery of the 8K Ronin 4D combo just before christmas - its a beast! Combo came with native DL mount zoom lens (17-28mm), SSD already attached and also comes with Prores Raw!
@@AnthonyRodriguezz grew up in Orlando, but in Tampa now. I'm building a team out here to shoot cat video channels and other types of videos. Going to get the ronin 4d of some kind some day, but not now. I'll stay tuned on your channel
@Anthony Rodriguez I mean that new nucleus does look sweet. But you can pull focus on auto focus lenses at three different resistance levels, the wheel lights up along with iris slider, af/mf button and a zoom pressure sensitive button with multi and and hard limit stops. I would try it out at least if you can rent it. It is nice on the hight bright 7" monitor.
lol that's fun ! still happy about it? I have the leica R serie 33xxx too, and a red gemini, I hesitate to buy a 6K4D, what do you think about those leicar and 4D? Do you have some videos made with this setup I can see? Thx, i subscribed!
Hi. I'm one of the filmmakers using this device in South Korea. I really enjoyed the video. Thank you. I am also buying and using Ronin 4D, but this is too heavy. It's annoying to have to handle the weight even when using it as a fixed camera. Even if all the joints of the gimbal were locked, there was a problem in using it as a fixed camera because a slight shaking occurred. There is an option called Flex, but it is questionable whether it is painful enough to pay an additional amount to purchase. I'm using Sony camera lens, but I don't like AF. Even after calibration, the focus does not seem to be about 5mm. The distance information between Lidar and the lens seems to be slightly different, but it is not easy to match perfectly. I'm considering changing the model to Fx6 because the performance of the lens is a waste. I think people like me are selling secondhand, so the price is falling. However, I am conflicted by watching Ronin 4D's footage dozens of times a day. This is because it is an incredibly beautiful quality footage that can eliminate the inconvenience and irritation of use.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz I'm glad to hear that you think so too. I bought the camera at the beginning of this month 😊Now I just need to agree on which lens to buy for it? What would you recommend in this situation if it has to be Professional but not over £3000
I’ve used it in house a bit but not on an all day project. Will be adding my thought on the flex system on the in depth review I’ll be making after about a month or two of using the 4d and all of its accessories
@@AnthonyRodriguezz I just joined 2 of them today. I put a small post up, but I’m going to do a detailed breakdown of my gear to try and get a ronin 4D. Otherwise I’ll just sell my gear and buy new.
Hey Anthony, thank you so much for making this video! I am absolutely in love with this camera lately, although I haven't tried it really, just held it in my hands but I am still heavily researching whether I should get this one or the Red Komodo OR Sony FX6 which have their own Pros... But in saying that... This is one of the best reviews I've seen man, and I would love to ask a couple of questions: 1. what's your experience with the lidar, is it a big problem, that things in front of your subject like fog or flimsy grass interfere with the focussing? I feel like you would just use manual focus in that case, which you would do on many other cinema cameras anyways? I also heard, that it is not possible to auto focus to infinity with sony lenses? 2. how bad is the rolling shutter in your opinion? I do a lot of fast moving shots, and I wonder if it is so bad that it is very noticeable even when you don't pause the video? 3. is there any way to delete footage of the card/drive without formatting the whole thing? Maybe through your computer? Or does that mess with the ssd? I am also kind of worried about the weight, because literally everybody talks about it... As I've said I had it in my hands and didn't find it that heavy tbh but obviously that changes when you hold it for longer periods. I also think that the new generation of gimbals which you hold like a sword are even worse because once you tilt them the system is SO front heavy because of the lever... What do you think? I do a lot of sports/action and documentary shooting and I feel like this could be THE camera for me, but these few things I need to consider and I am wondering whether it is worth making those compromises because I don't want to carry it with the flex cable in a backpack each time because it is too heavy e.g. Thanks for reading and keep rocking! ~ Phill
Thanks for stopping by and wow! That’s alot to tackle. I’ll say this, I’ve never had a client care about rolling shutter nor have I noticed it in movies ever when watching them or docs. The rolling shutter isn’t great, the lidar CAN be good and deleting clips… I have no idea 😂 I hope that helps… honestly if you want the fastest camera possible I’d get the 4d
Love this review! I just picked up the 4D and use it in live broadcasts. The only issue I’m having is updating the Sony mount firmware. Have you ran into this issue?
Hey Anthony. Great video! What camera should I pick between C70, Fx6, and 4d? I’m starting a production company and upgrading from the x-t3 (I’ve also been renting for shoots). My focus is corporate b2b ads for social media spots. Leaning towards the 4d for a small team of two but I’d appreciate your input.
@@AnthonyRodriguezzHey Anthony if you should go for two, what would be your pick (including the komodo-x and fx3 as options as well) I really liked your video btw!
I have three complaints about the 4D given the price. I say given the price because price is everything, if it were cheaper then maybe I would turn a blind eye, but because it's not, these will be issues for me: 1) Slow rolling shutter speed 2) RAW requires their proprietary SSD unit even though it has internal CFexpress B and USB-C. 3) HDMI 1.4a output only (so no 4K output for sharper monitoring).
Yeah… although I see what your POV is, the benefit of Prores Raw is Kindof pointless to me and the hdmi issue has never been an issue… you don’t need 4K output for a tiny 7” screen or even a 15” screen. You can’t find 4K screen out there anyways that aren’t around 20”+
@@AnthonyRodriguezz Word ! Yeah I have an S5ii, BMPCC 6K, OG BMPCC, XT4, thinking about a Sigma FP...so I'm probably good on cameras for a while but, if I get any inkling that the DJI has something special in the image, then I'd for sure think about it. Dope video ! Nice shots in there, especially on the move ! See you.
That was a great video thank you subbed. Will you be making the review that you mentioned. I don't think it necessary to be honest. But your style is enjoyable. Sad truth is that I have watched many videos now as I am interested in getting one. So youtubes say they will be making more content on the subject but they don't. I can never work out if that is a good sign, or that they can't bring themselves to do it, for whatever reason. Maybe they didn't get enough views or likes. Of course not following through and delivering will actually quickly make people like me lose interest as consistency in following a chanel is important, the people who have viewed the video like me, who are first time visitors may not sub nor ever come back. Just a creative thought for you. I have subbed, I like you.
