ok Toyota worked with subaru to make the toyota gt86 but in america they are sold by scion btw is owned by toyota and subaru also sells them here but named as the brz. All 3 are the same car under the hood with minor interior and body changes.

Wow, now this is someone who really loves and take pride in what he does. The car is amazing, but the mechanic is inspirational :)
The Rocket Bunny kit's bumper appliques (the two small white pieces on the bumpers corners above the blinkers in this vid) are shaped to work with the FRS front bumper so it was probably easier for them to just swap the bumper and emblems rather than wait for Rocket Bunny to make them custom ones. I would rather it still be a Subaru but it's cool at least that someone did this to a Scooby BRZ. Gives me hope for the near future of the aftermarket world of BRZs.
Very nice job, love the color scheme looks good without painting the Kit much, also only Brz has that nice blue color. I wish your shop was next door. Must be so easy to get parts there.
Hadn't really thought much of the BRZ/GT86, but with that kit... damn, that's a mean looking motor!
Imai says in the video that they converted to a "Toyota 86 face" as he puts it. So yes the emblem on the front bumper says Scion but the car itself started life as a Subaru.
The FRS isn't the Toyota 86, that's why they have different names. They also have different specs, but very similar.
I watched it a second time after I posted that comment and read the subtitles.
I hope you read the subtitles when Imai-san said that they swapped the face into an 86's. Scion is the 86's badging in the US.
If you were reading/listening, he explains everything. It's a Subaru BRZ, with a Toyota 86 front clip, with Scion badging. So he pretty much made a mash-up of all three makes into the same model car. Comprende..?

Rocket Bunny kits are for scions, but since the cars are identical, it's used on all three, and the badge goes along.

there are slight differences between the Scion FRS, Toyota GT 86 and Subaru BRZ, even though they all got the same technology of the BOXER engine, chassis make, and Subaru technology, still that doesn't make it a Subaru !

It's a BRZ but the owner changed the bumpers to make it look like a Scion FR-S. All the paper work is for a BRZ.
Also, there is no 86 logo on the side of the car where the GT86 and FR-S have it.
i love the exhaust sound, and i like the look of the body kit, but now, put the crawford built turbo engine in it and you have one hell of a car.

well basically what happened is that toyota which is scion (scion is toyota) worked on the bodywork and interior and design stuff while subaru worked on the mechanics, so basically the main difference between the toyota/scion is the front bumper and the wheel :)
Why people argue and curse each other, its silly. Was a collaboration to remix the old 86, thats why they change the face to match the old feeling, not to take anything away from Subaru. Its even hard to choose which one to buy, because Brz has more extras. So some people who love the old Toyota 86 buy the BRZ because its the same car with more features and drives stiffer in the tail.You see he had the old 86 right next to it. The engine says Toyota and Subaru on it, doesnt say Scion. I have one
The guy in video says that they wanted to fit the FRS/toyota 8-6 rocket bunny kit so they converted the front enf of the car to the scion front (hence the badge)
That's pretty cool that they use Driftworks parts in Japan, especially that they're respected enough for a successful shop like Bee*R to use them.
It's kind of weird that they went for a BRZ and then changed it to the Toyota styling with a Scion badge though. What's up with that?

Yes, they actually do. One. The owner of Rocket Bunny imported one. Its even a recommended video on the side. Its the Maiham Media Rocket Bunny Scion video...Its red.
They are all essentially the same car. the engine and transmission come from Subaru, suspension and chassis come from Toyota. The differences stock are all cosmetic. Toyota slaps a scion and FRS badge on it and Subaru slaps Subaru and BRZ badges on it. Subaru also does some cosmetic changes to make it looks slightly different than the FRS, but both cars perform exactly the same stock

Toyota 86 is the Scion FR-S the difference between them is that th FR-S is sold in different places than the 86, but the reason the Subaru BR-Z looks the same is because Toyota worked together with Subaru to make the engine for the Toyota and made different individual tweaks to the body and other stuff :).
Guys. It IS a Subaru BRZ. Scion and Toyota do NOT make their models in Subaru World Rally Blue, Subaru's trademark color. If you paid attention towards the video, the owner of the car clearly states that it is a Subaru BRZ with an 86 front conversion. It is not an 86/FRS, even the owner says its a BRZ.

No its the Subaru BRZ witha Toyota gt 86 front and FRS back so that he could put GReddy's rocket bunny aero kit on the car.
All three cars are not the same, different gas mileage so obviously there are some differences in the engine. All of them use Subaru's boxer engine with there own touches to it. You can even go on their site or dealer ship like I have and they will say they are very similar cars with their own taste or if you go to there site you'll see different specs.

He specifically stated that he liked the Toyota GT86 front end better than the BRZ. So he changed the fascia to better fit the Aero Kit. It is a BRZ.

cause the scion is a branch of the toyota that worked on the BRZ twin thats my guess like in australia the HSV is a branch of the Holden and Opel

i think the rocket bunny is made for scion/toyota front end, the brz has a slightly different front that's why they switch the fronts. that's just my theory
Go to your local dealership that sells these cars. not used car salesmen, the actual Subaru and Scion/Toyota dealerships. They all worked together on it but they arent really the same, they are some different specs and price ranges and different gas mileage so there was to be different engine specifications. look it up on there sites.
Love it, but I gotta say, first time I've seen someone put a Scion badge on a BRZ/GT86 (Right hand drive), its usually a Toyota Badge on a Scion FRS...
no, its a brz, u need to fit the scion bumper on to fit the rocket bunny front pieces and lip

Its a BRZ chassis but the owner swaped the front end for a GT86 one, but it's a scion badge.....
The rocket bunny kit comes with the Scion emblem regardless of make.
The front fenders indicate it is a BRZ and in the video it is said it has a Gt86 front.......
I believe the car is actually Subaru. But he changed and used a Scion bumper. Toyota 86 and Scion FRS have same bumper design but Scion don't have fog lights just like in the video while a Toyota 86 has. So, you have a Subaru BRZ but a Scion/Toyota looks (without fog light). hehe..

A fact is that the Japanese likes the Scion Emblem, so they de-badge their Toyota GT86 emblem and puts the Scion emblem on it, while some Scion FRS owners here in America puts a Toyota emblem on their Scion FRS.
i gotta admit the brz is growing on me more and more, but i still want to wait until they decide to put the STI engine in it. more power the better.

why do people, when looking up rocket fr-s/86/brz, not understand that the front lip only works with the 86/fr-s front but makes me wonder why they jut don't put the Subaru badge on the 86 front
U mean America i think, Scion FR-S is only sold in America, rest of the world get the Toyota GT86 (these 2 are identical).
Subaru BRZ has some minor differences (headlights, interior gauges, front bumper, ...)

It's called the Scion FR-S in the North America. This guy probably have the NA version of it.
What i don't like is that (unrelated to this particular car) subaru designed basically the entire car, all toyota did was provide funding and a few interior things for their car. EVERY variant of it is made in a SUBARU factory in gunma
Subaru and Toyota are working together. The Subaru BRZ, The Scion FRS, and The Toyota GT 86 are literally the same car.
I hate to tell you all but the trolls are wrong. It is a BRZ. You can see from the wheel arches. Also the BRZ and 86 share 90% of the same DNA because it was a joint venture. So if you were to be really technical it could be either with some easy changes. At least do your homework before mouthing off at people in future. It saves you a lot of embarrassment.

scion is owned by toyota so their design between the USDM FR-S and GT86 is very similar in comparison. plus, just like people in america who love JDM spec conversions, japan enthusiest actually like doing the same for USDM conversions lol

The Rocket Bunny kit is sold at around $4995. So, FRS/BRZ $25,000+, Rocket Bunny Kit $4,995 and wheels. Probably around $35,000? Just a rough estimate.
