Ok but seriously, to sum it up in one sentence the game was initially rushed. So they’re taking the time now to put the content that couldn’t go into the OG release in now(also it’s gonna be a free update)

I played this game on the original Xbox back in the day, and the Switch version definitely holds up. The complaint about the fighting issues you can simply pause in combat to strategize so the controls aren't that big of an issue.
I paused during combat A LOT during my playthroughs on the PC.

The fact that this game is including the restored content makes this one of my most anticipated games in the life of the Switch. I can't remember the last time I was this excited to play a game, let alone one that is over a decade old.
Yeah same here. This is amazing. It only sucks for me with this timing because I 2 weeks ago finished watching an entire Let's Play of this game on Woolie VS again so my memory of the game is very fresh.
But I will absolutely buy this now that it will include the restored content. Truly amazing. Never thought it would be included in the Switch version if it ever happened I thought. Mind blown.
@@ReachStudioPro I feel you. Similarly, I just started playing through the Oracle Zelda's for the first time and am almost done Seasons and will be working on Ages next. It's great playing what is to me a brand new Zelda game despite it being 20+ years old. But now I hear rumors that remastered versions are likely to be announced at the June direct, so I'm half thinking I should have just waited. I'll definitely still buy the remastered versions if they happen anyway, lol

@@danguy6591 the phone versions are notoriously broken and, at least to my knowledge, do not include the expanded content. Also, phone gaming is garbage. Even when a game does play all right and happens to be compatible with whatever controller you have, that's only true until the next update or two when suddenly the game no longer plays right on your phone or stops working with your controller. I don't think the phone KOTORs even had controller support as I recall. So yeah, this is definitely way more exciting than the mobile releases and yes, I am a switch elitist.

There definitely will be a physical release but not a double pack. KOTOR 1 and 2 are too big to fit in one cartridge (even the 32gb one)
So Nintendo, you better not cut out the part that says "Restored Content DLC Coming Soon" like Aspyr did, might need that evidence for future legal reasons

I am not a starwars person. I vaguely remember some starwars stuff as a kid. The Knights of the Old Republic games are fantastic, despite that.

The Switch version of KOTOR 1 gave me a chance to play the game after being a fan for over decade. I’m looking forward to being able to play KOTOR 2.

Me too. I honestly never played KOTOR until I bought the digital download after a few years of watching other people’s playthroughs of the game. The announcement of the second game getting a re-release in less than two weeks effectively reminds that I need to go back and finally finish my own playthrough of the first which I really do enjoy playing and even considering doing another playthrough of it after.
@@GuardianAngel871 as someone who grew up with both, the first one is a bit simple, if you have a hard time with that one you'll still probably enjoy the second one with how much more in depth it is plus they do a great job of explaining everything from the first so you won't be missing anything if you aren't able to finish it

Not gonna lie, this looks cool. I hope one day we can get both Rogue Squadron and Shadows of the empire on the switch. Because those 2 were my favorite star wars games to play growing up.

Kreia is the strongest part of 2 imo. The Plot twist is huge for 1, but Kreia is consistently wild. My brother called her true self early on

@@typhoonlagoon4031 You don't have to, I'd recommend it though cause there's plenty of back story, plot elements and returning characters. My personal opinion is that the story is better than the 1st when played after it, but it's a great game on its own.

Wish Bethesda would bring over games like Fallout 3/NV and The Elder Scrolls Morrowind and Oblivion but it is what it is.

I'd love oblivion, but now that Microsoft own Bethesda it will never happen.

I put so much time on the KOTOR games on my Xbox back in the day. Such good games.

BTW this is not a game meant for children. However it does introduce some interesting philosophy through the easy to understand Star War's Philosophy; so it's actually a gem for kids to play as a learning experience.

After this announcement, I feel safe to say I have faith in them for the remake. They clearly know what the Fans want. They didn’t have to give us the Restored Content yet here we are!
the RCM is needed for the game's ending to make sense, heck it was free for PC since over 10 years and is highly recommended by community members to use it for the full experience. The fact its claimed as a DLC makes me worry we gonna get charged extra for that.
And with how the original KOTOR1 port was on Switch people should have learnt to NOT support the people porting this game when a game comes in an even more shelved version.
Meh it's still Playstation Console exclusive, and I can't afford a PC currently. So meh

I had the strategy guide for Old Republic 2 and it always confused me there was an entire section in the guide that wasn't in the game. Luckily, people online posted about how the game was unfinished at launch and sections were cut.

Nice! I love the Star Wars series a lot! Hope they port more classic Star Wars games to platforms that already aren't playable like Bounty Hunter on Xbox and Switch, Classic Battlefront I and II on PS4 and Switch and pretty much all of the Rouge Squadron games.

Now that is interesting. The integration of the Restored Content Mod really raises a few legal questions for me as a modder and a dev. Did they have to contact ever member of the team to get permission and a signed contract releasing it?
Maybe I've been in and out of AAA too many years, but the legal thing gets me, and the technical aspects of the Switch port have me confused how they get the mod integrated, and if there will be modding on the Switch at all beyond that.
Either way, very cool seeing one of the best RPGs and best Star Wars content getting a modern re-release. Even if it still looks super dated and probably plays the same. The voice acting, the writing, the music -- so good.

Technically, wouldn't the modder do the somewhat illegal stuff in the first place? Though I would welcome it if the industry would work more closely with modders and maybe reimburse them monetarily for their work or work something out. Maybe a couple of modders from back then work for Aspyr now? Would need to ask them for the answer
