Sight casting with live herring, it was an effective technique for the Spotted mackeral tho more so than the tuna. Hope to do lots more live baiting this year!
Awesome video as always Luke and Paul! Did you happen to catch the herring by chance or find they congregate at certain locations commonly? Awesome stuff all the same, can't wait to see you boys out chasing reds and trout again soon!
Thanks mate! Can't wait to get out chasing trout around the islands aswell! We caught the herring with a cast net at the boat ramp in the harbour. At times they school very close by the pontoon, but not always there
Hi John thanks, yes slower retrieve seems to work way better for mackeral and sub surface I have come to conclude now. Ironically the video is labeled fishing for spotted mackeral as that's what we caught. But we were actually fishing for tuna which I like a skip across the surface.
@@endlessseasfishing399 Wow thanks keep up the good job. Make more vids please and it would be good to see you on Hooked on Mackay regards from an ex South African living in Greece.
Hey Mate, this was filmed about the beginning of November last year. I have found spring time to be the best for Spotties but you will still catch them in January
I never seen that before throwing live bait into tuna, such a good idea

You should let your lure sink a little and slow down the retrieve. Might get a better outcome.

@@endlessseasfishing399 its an amazing boat, we have been in some pretty hairy situations and not once have I have been worried about the boat.
@@OlderisOptional definately. Even sometimes have had to save the day towing in other vessels that have died in the rough weather conditions
