Fishing at the mouth of the Mackay River

- We made the long walk out to the red beacon to fish at the mouth of the Mackay Pioneer River. We run into cus Uriel and turned into a two day adventure. The second day we landed a queen fish giving us enough fish to make two dishes of numus (raw fish). We brought the cast net along casting schools of mullet and whiting to add to our catch. The fish were biting giving us some excitement throughout the adventure.
Good session, good feed! Good to see a local having a crack on the tube. Subscribed mate!

I used to fish there years ago pretty often. I’ve seen hundreds of stingrays all different sizes going between the two rock walls into the river on a dropping tide. Good flathead out there too🍺🍺

I never liked eating raw fish that i caught, primarily that it can have worms in the meat. I like Sushi but that sushi wherever you eat it, it sushi grade, so im fine with that, but when catching fish always prefer cooking it.
Oh yeah. I make sure there isn’t any worms when I’m filleting it but I have always eaten raw fish even if it’s caught fresh in the net and I don’t even get it into vinegar.

What are the ingredients in the "family" recipe? Looked like tomato, lemon slices?, red onion and maybe cucumber? (as well as garlic, ginger and vinegar). :-) Made me hungry seeing you eat the ginger and soy one. When we were in Weipa, we made namus every day and ate it with fresh bread rolls and a beer for lunch.
Yes all of that just without cucumber. I’ve added small bits of orange sometimes. It is seriously so good. I want some now.
Mate a bit chili will enhance the taste too.

Thank you so much for your comment. Nah I haven’t really measured my fish but I definitely caught my biggest up further north. Thank you the editing part takes longer than actually fishing but I do have a few on the Mac waiting.

@@CampMisguided I don't personally have a boat/yacht anymore but have access to one, and my son is a charter fishing deck hand. We could work it out easy enough

Some do pass through the mouth to vines creek. I’ve always been told in North Queensland to treat the water as if they’re there.
