I honestly think nothings being done to make him sound like that live, he can do crazy shit with his vocals so I wouldn't be surprised if this performance is genuine.
Ryan Bailey even if it was, Alex is a fantastic vocalist. There’s plenty of videos of him going insanely low in his car and bedroom just filmed on a cellphone. I don’t think he needs that much help to make his vocals sound good.
And I say that as someone who has always thought this band was pretty bland and boring.

He can do it live, I'm not arguing that he never uses any kind of backtracking or pre recorded vocals... most artists do these days...but he is absolutely capable of achieving that voice without them.

Michael Higgins from what I’ve seen it looks like he has a genuine technique and isn’t just winging it. I know to go that deep is very tough but I think he has the skill and it smart about it. I don’t see him going all out for 5 shows only to really drop it the last 10 shows of a tour or something .
@@huntermengel2683 If you notice in a lot of his live videos, he doesn't jump, and move around a lot. I think he's just smart and conserves his stamina. As you get tired you start getting lazy with your technique. This guy definitely takes care of his voice.
@Michael Higgins His vocal chords will be fine because the vocal chords aren't used to produce that sound, the false chords are which is just above the vocal chords (you can feel them if you relax your throat and just say 'zzzzzzzzz' like a bee, it's like a slight buzzing just under your jaw) and going high or deep isn't hard per se, it depends on your 'instrument' which is your entire body, but mostly the width of the vocal tract, size of the nose cavity and skull size. Think about how a voice actor is able to switch from a very high almost childlike voice, to a deep manly voice or even monster voice, actually all deep monster voices in voice acting is done using mostly false chords. Generally speaking, once you've figured out how to do it, it's like riding a bike.

well the song didnt hit youtube until the end of April, and this show was in January. At the time I imagine it was just a new song that they were working on recording so nobody knew it yet. I didn't discover it until a few days ago.

The more I listen to this song, the more Slipknot-ish influence I discover in Alex's vocals. I mean the verse-chorus vocals, of course, and not the really deeper growls and higher screams. This really adds up, in the end. I'm not sure if Alex was influenced by SK or he just developed this vocals on his own, but he is damn talented. He's got so many sides to his voice. And the demonic growls are just epic. When he sings DEMOLISHER to the crowd without the mic, though, I fear he might be overexerting his vocal chords. I'm not a vocal specialist, and I know there are ways doing this stuff in a healthy manner, but the volume he uses there sounds a little bit harmful. I hope he will take care of his chords, we all expect tons of epicness from him :)
