When I was a kid I recorded shows on cassette recorder, and at night when I couldn't sleep, I would put it under my pillow and it helped me sleep. I was ASMRing 45 years ago. This is very nostalgic, thanks ER

Wow that is so similar to my asmr story but it was recording music off the radio on my flip phone, it was specifically the song Vanilla Twilight and I’d eventually find myself singing it in my sleep after listening countless times. It really helped with my sleep anxiety.
I never thought about using a mixtape for ASMR, but the static sound makes it very relaxing.
I honestly beg to differ. I feel like it was a great idea but static isnt a common like in the community. I could be wrong.
destroyers 03 i think a lot of people like static, but this static is a little to intense. Theres a slight screeching sound that lingers even when i turn it down so i can barely hear him

Also just wanted to comment on the genius of describing in detail of what you're doing and the view around the listener. Not only is it extremely calming, tingle inducing, and grounding, it's perfect for listening when you start to close your eyes or have to look away from the video.
The grounding aspect of describing your actions and the surroundings is going to come in handy for me, due to my mental health issues. That connection back to your surroundings and what's going on around you really helps during panic attacks.

Chad. I was asking that same question earlier this morning when I was trying to sleep to one of his vids. He is super creative. The thought that goes into his videos is beyond me creatively.
For a good number of years he had a full-time job in addition to his youtube channel. I would guess that's still the case. It's always been a mystery how he is able to create so much content.
In one of his 'real talk' type videos he said he worked full time, but that was at least 2 years ago. Maybe at a bank? I'm not sure, I've watched so many of his vids.

I mean, that's a real cassette and a real cassette recorder, why go through the extra trouble of faking it?
@@KingLofiOne because actually recording it all on a mixtape may be harder or more prone to failure compared to simply recording in his usual existing setup and then just putting the audio on top of a recording of a playing empty cassette with some filters applied for that "vintage sound".

I've noticed this too. It's a sad shame because I love this video, but can't sleep to it tonight because ads are intrusive and disruptive. Hopefully not all his videos have ads and it's resolved soon

I LOVE ER's videos. Every time I watch and listen to one, i fall into a deep refreshing sleep. My only complaint is sometimes when I wake up, my pants are undone.
This is a very niche asmr that i never thought in a million years would ever be explored by an asmrtist. I've always loved the buzzy sounds/distorted voices coming from an old timey radio. Only uncle ER can come up with ideas like this

When I was a kid, frequently on the weekends I would stay over at my grandfathers house to stay the night. Usually at the end of the night he would turn on his radio and go to bed with the sound of white noise lulling him to sleep. I don't know if it comes from an older generation but it seem to be those who used a lot of radio when they were younger or just grew up listening to the radio use white noise as their ASMR, very interesting stuff. Thank for the vid Paul !
