Same here, I was just at AEW All Out in Chicago, and it was absolutely amazing
Bruh, Galactic Wrestling is basically the better version of UM: Kinnikuman Legacy. It gets rid of a few things, but makes up for it with a much more packed roster, more insane moves to pull off, special interactions between certain characters, and a good selection of extras like collectable minifigures. It's easily one of my favorite PS2 games of all time.

Showdown: LoW on PS2 had some of the most awe-inspiring glitches I've ever laid eyes on.
My favorite was the time I dropkicked Eddie Guerrero so hard that he phased through the ropes and barricade and out into the crowd, where he recovered and proceeded to walk straight upwards into the sky while the camera zoomed-out roughly a mile and stayed that way for the rest of the match.

I was hoping to see "Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes of the ring". It's a game made by Konami, that is based in the Mexican wrestling league AAA that I had as a kid. I loved it because it had the Mexican announcers and luchadores that I always watched on TV. It's similar to the WWE games but It's was full of Mexico's charm.

Maybe Austin Eruption could cover it in a follow up video if possible, I've been enjoying his videos on Wrestling Video Games for awhile now, glad to see him back at it again, plus his coverage on Anime related stuff is always awesome and never runs out.
I remember that game. One of the earliest matches in the career mode was glitchy as hell, as both times I beat it, the match then restarted with the ref stuck IN the ring so he cant... well, ref. Other than that the game was rad as fuck.
Was that the game that advertised getting a mask then pulled back at the last second?
I took me like a minute to realize that the crowds in Wrestling Empire are literally carboard cutouts and I can't stop laughing.
Fun Fact: Reiko Hinomoto's entrance theme is actually a DDR song called Look at the Sky, it features several revisions by comoposer Sota Fujimori.

When I read the title, the first game I thought of was Power Move Pro Wrestling for PS1. Sadly it wasn't included. BTW, wrestling empire is the last wrestling game I legit had a blast playing. Went through season mode until my wrestler died. RIP Jack Cough.

Does King of the Monsters on Neo Geo count as a wrestling game? I loved it as a kid because I loved both elements of its gameplay - kaiju movies and pro wrestling.

For what its worth, I've heard from guys who work with UDON ( who make the Street Fighter comics and publish Capcom art books in English) that theyve tried to use Slam Masters stuff but there are some rights issues on Capcom's end preventing ot from happening.
Not only have we got the AEW game coming (which looks great) but we’ve also got the Wrestling Code by Virtual Basement which has gotten a great indie roster. Does along with a (hopefully) better WWE game and stuff like Retromania means we could be entering a wrestling game renaissance.

I loved Rumble Roses. I invested so much time in it... Yeah I bought it as a horny teenager, but I fell in love with the gameplay. And Miss Spencer, haha.
There were a slew of New Japan/ All Japan games in the late 90's early 00's that were pretty dope. Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, Wrestle Colosseum, Wrestle Kingdom. Being mostly in Japanese the controls and menus are tough to get a grip on but they're also pretty fun.

My fav wrestling game is King Of Monsters, primarily for the utter genius connection of a wrestling game and the kaiju films of the 60's and 70's using wrestling as their primary fighting style

Muscle Bomber Duo is one of the most underrated games to play! Should of seen an American release!!
They're not the only company with very interesting IP that they did nothing with until it gets to the point where it's no longer useful. You'd think they'd just churn out Capcom vs... games but the definitive game is probably the Mugen-based Capcom vs. the World.
In saying that, given what they've done with the Masters of the Universe game, somebody could make a SlamMasters/3 Count Bout-style game with OpenBOR IMO.

Ahh that Ultimate Muscle game! I loved it! I think my brother got rid of it...probably. Checkmate was one of my favorites. Anytime I could use Pile Driver Stallion Style I absolutely would. Ughh such good memories.

The arcade 3 Count Bout was pretty good (well maybe just the Great Muta look a like.) I like Giant Gram for Sega Saturn and the sequel for Dreamcast quite a bit as well....
I never played 3-Count Bout. It’s on PS4 and Switch digital but waiting for it to go on sale. $8 is a bit much.
i do like how over the last several years, youtubers that i have been watching for "x" amount years have dropped the occasional wrestling reference but then eventually reveal that they are wrestling fans, and AEW fans on top of that. thumbs up from me.
I enjoyed the Legends of Wrestling games. I made a REALLY good Triple H logo in one or more of them, back when he had the sort of wrought iron-looking spiked H's on his trunks.
I won't call Wrestling Empire "bad". I think it actually does feel good to control, once you accept that it is part skill and part simulation. For example, counters are a weird fusion of character stats, random chance, and knowing you can potentially press/hold a button to improve that chance. You can do everything "right" and still get a bad result, but it is also on you to recognize that maybe you should switch to a different strategy. The game has plenty of jank, but it is also the best wrestling game that I've played in years.

The earliest memory I have of Rumble Roses was seeing a review on X-Play and changing the channel because my mom was home and I wasn’t even going to attempt to explain what I was looking at.

I pumped so many quarters into WrestleFest. I was a video game/ wrestling junky as a kid. I was a poor kid too, so I didn't have many quarters. We used to get in trouble for getting caught fishing quarters out of the fountain in the middle of the mall.
I really hope you get to cover the Celebrity Deathmatch game (i'm surprised it isn't in this video), because it was weird as all hell. I was actually convinced it was a fever dream for the longest time, as i never owned a copy and played it at a friend's house as a kid. And it sure was an experience...

Honestly MDickie's wrestling games fill such a weird niche of living out the career of a wrestler going to multiple companies mixed with it's really goofy presentation, I find it a lot of fun, and have spend at least 100 hours between them all just living out my love of wrestling
Perfect description! Idk why other wrestling games don't even have a career mode like MDickie has giving us. It gives u freedom! It isn't just some scripted story mode like most wrestling games with career mode. And yea I've put over 100 hrs into Empire and it's my first MDickie game. Also it has the gm mode "booking" with the same kinds of freedom represented too. Amazing!!
I love Ring of Destruction even more than Slammasters, the music is so good and the gameplay is really fast.

Action Arcade Wrestling is another fun wrestling game to check out. Came out recently on consoles and has been on Steam for a couple years. Worth a play through!
This is wild as hell but I'm so glad I found your channel. As a kid I had an action figure that I absolutely LOVED playing with. I didn't know the name and describing the character in searches led to nothing and I was convinced that I would forever forget what that toy was. 16:06 I thought my heart was going to fall out of my ass, THAT'S THE MASK. You gotta try RetroMania Wrestling. It’s on all consoles. It’s smooth and fun as hell. It’s a throwback to old arcade style wrestling games with a great roster including guys like Matt Cardona, Tommy Dreamer, Zack Sabre Jr & Colt Cabana to name a few. It’s my favorite wrestling game after Fire Pro Wrestling World

Rumble Roses awoke a lot of things in me during my adolescence.
The mention of Ultimate Muscle actually got a legit cheer out of me.
Kinnikuman is kind of the proto-shonen series. Its where a lot of shonen tropes started.
Interestingly they actually got the announcer from Pride FC to be the announcer in a few Kinnikuman games (she was also in the Japanese version of Ultimate Muscle, as well as the English voice of Axl in Mega Man X7).
Also, Rumble Roses is underrated as fuck.
You're not joking about Rumble ROses having one of the best OSTs - a solid 25% or more is either lightly remixed or wholesale cut from Bemani games. There's a few DDR tracks and some from beatmania with I think one or two from guitar freaks to boot.
Legends of Wrestling 2 is one of those games where you know it's not good but you're still entertained by playing it. Not to mention that sick song by Jimmy Hart that plays over the credits.
I had nearly forgotten about Fire Pro Wrestling on the GBA. It may be time to dig up my copy again.
Kojima wanted to do a Crossover with Rumble Roses and Metal Gear but the team didn't want to because they where too busy at the time. Guess what was the second option for a crossover... Dead or Alive. They ended up adding Reiko from Rumble roses as an Unlockeable character on Metal Gear Online.
I played the demo for Rumble roses oh so many years ago and from that day forward it has existed in my mind as I have constantly doubted myself "Am I crazy or was that game good" and now I have my answer.

As a complete novice to wrestling, I tried playing Rumble Roses but only managed to badly lose every match, maybe it needed a great tutorial or something, surprised you didn't talk about the sequel though.
That Legends of Wrestling series is making me wish someone had made a tie-in game for the Heroes of Wrestling PPV.
