The crazy names are a signature of many Japanese wrestling games. The Fire Pro Wrestling series is famous for it. Burning Pro Wrestling for the SNES (see what they did there) also had them too. It's part of the charm of the games
I am now very interested in this game. Not every wrestling game has to be like Aki to be good. How you describe the grappling system, it sounds like it can be REALLY competitive if you got some serious players.
That Natsume game on SNES is a good one. It also has amusingly redesigned versions of All Japan Wrestlers outside of Japan. It had a bit more of an emphasis on working the match as opposed to beating your opponent. The GBA Fire Pro had some interesting "homages" to the real wrestlers on the roster as well.

Wow This One Actually Slipped Passed My Radar. It Looks Like a Superior Version of Their AJPW SuperFamicom Games. Natsume Championship Wrestling Was The SNES Version.
Great vid, had never heard of this but their earlier game Natsume Wrestling is on the Switch Snes virtual console selection, worth checking out, but the really great one is Zen Nihon Pro Res 2 3 4, real licensed characters but Japan only sequel.

I love how Undertaker, Yokozuna and Vader are the only active (at the time) WWF wrestlers in this game lol. No Bret Hart, no Shawn Michaels, no Bulldog, no Owen, Sid or Mankind. It's a bit odd but fascating.

This seems like a good mix of cheesiness and decent game mechanics. I will give it a try. Really would love a modern game in this spirit (ripped-off characters from all over the world and all promotions) with the mechanics of Here Comes the Pain and in decent 3D. Cheesy Promos, the booking system and the crowdmeter would have to be in it too. Would play this for weeks.

You should try out All Star Pro-Wrestling 3 It's a game made by Square Enix of All people, it's actually pretty cool. You can even have Misawa fight against Liger In some ways it reminds me of yuke's games but the controls and grappling systems feel very different
you should do a video of the knock of entrance music in the game for all the wrestlers or do it in 3 separate vids one for the American wrestlers, one for the Japanese wrestlers and one for the Mexican wrestlers
That excitement bar sounds cool. I remember playing WWE 2K19 and found the match rating system flawed and absurd at times. Would love to see a rating system like the one here implemented in a modern game.

You can download applications that use camera to change writing on screen to text, then translate the text. Hope this helps you in the future
