incredible video you said at the end you dont like making negative reveiws, but someone has to shed light and being honest is something i hope everyone can value
this is literally exactly how i feel about this pad. im glad im not the only one. been on glass and hsk for like a year and thought this was gonna be perfect for me and now that i have it, it feels so hard to make small movements cause my fingers stick and it sticks to my skin way more than any of my glass pads
these are the types of reviewers im looking for, not someone testing & finding miniscule stats that are marginally better, but someone who actually reviews the item and isnt trying to stay on a companies good side by lying/sugarcoating
Finished watching your video and then hopped on Boardzy's livestream. Apparently he too got the 4 rubber circles for the Cerapad X! But yeah that's that, love your vids!
glad to see video made and tested by a human!!! I got the kin v1as my first/last and quit buying hard pads for like 3 years. I really like glass now and have been maining different glass pads for the last 11 months.
Wow.. I was super excited to get a custom glass pad. I'm tired of all these brands doing limited drops and don't want a skypad. Thought the Kin X was the answer to that.
I think I read that at least one of them is going to be on vacation and or not working the entire week of Christmas so you may have to wait a bit longer. I ordered one last night out of curiosity. Since I have a lot of hours on the original and the v2, should be an interesting comparison
The more I use the KinX the more I relate to your frustrations. Even with hardened PTFE skates like the obsidian airs they would only last a few days at most and that's with lightish gaming. I've purchased and tried to plastix dots and while there was seemingly no wear for the 2 weeks I would use them for, but they eventually would start feeling scratchy and were incredibly loud, even fresh, on the pad (like your worn skates on the beast) and similarly had to move back to other skates. I love the pad for the first 30 or so minutes before I end up feeling disappointed. Looking for a replacement, but with glasspads in general being expensive and not having any interest in cloth anymore I kind of have to stick with the kinX for some time.
As a casual owner of the beast, I'm curious about the test conducted by the reputable source. This thing is so much faster than my skypad 4, I'm shocked that any scientific test came to this result. Is there a video on this?
i don't remember the exact problem, but i believe he said he needed to wipe it down with alcohol after receiving it, and that made the speed in the tests more accurate. i don't think there was any video made about it and i feel bad for him bc he was only trying to provide hard data, it was others who tried to use that data maliciously ;c
@@pinguefied Funnily enough I noticed this with my skypad, but not the beast. All said and done though, the beast is terrifyingly fast regardless of testing. It's a joy to use for sure.
im so glad I came to this video (you are the best mousepad reviewer on yt) I wanted a new glass pad and i was seeing if I get this pad for xmas, but after this video and the annoucement of the guardian by tekk im buying that pad. Ur review of the beast also made me want to get the beast but it was sold out, this is my chance to make it right xD. tysm for this contentm I would love if u could review the htx mini it seems like a gr8 fingertip mouse.
I really love the idea of the cerapad, I've had the skypad 3.0 for nearly 2 years and always go back to it, Just want something with abit more control!
Incredible video as always ! I absolutely love the fact that you're being 100% citing both pros and cons of the pad without care about how a review that is mostly negative could be percieved. The Kin X is a pad I was looking forward to because of the customization, however I won't get one because I don't want a pad that is only good looking with poor performances. The only thing that's bugging me in this review is actually not about the Kin X but the Kin v2, I have one (3:08 is actually mine ☺) and did not have the same experience with it as you described. - You said it didn't have a break in period but mine had one, it felt really "sticky" for a while then became way smoother. - I didn't have any issues with mouse skates, mainly used hardened PTFE but not only. - No issues with sweat stains or coating wearing either (even if it was the experience of others) So I thought that maybe I was just playing in a different way that lets me use the pad in a better way, I still don't want to gamble on the Kin X for now. Anyway, big fan of yours and your ASMRish reviews. Keep up the good work ! 🥰
gotcha, i had one other person mention the v2 also had a break in period. i tried to make it work for like 2 months so i prolly just forgot 😭 but it definitely wasn't as egregious as the v1 at least i also didn't have chipping or staining issues with the v2 but quite a lot of ppl did so i figured it was worth mentioning. very surprised u didn't have any skate issues though :o did you try using the skates on other hardpads after spending time with them on the v2? ty for the kind words c:
@ I don't really know what caused the pad to be this sticky when I got it but it was barely usable before the break in. For the skates I did use them on glass after a period on the Kin v2 and can't remember any issues with them. I must notice that my favorite skates to use on the Kin v2 are not the same than my favorites on glass (Kin v2 : red Obsidians ; Glass : Cyclones). I should add that the lack of wearing of the skates might be due to a really light way to use my mouse (I can use 4 dots on a xsoft surface without any issues). Have a great day 🤠
How does it feel compared to harut in terms of static and dynamic as well as overall performance? P.S you aren't one random person, you are one of the most credible (glass) pad reviewers that I binge watch. Keep up the amazing work ❤
Finally a mousepad optimized for cookie clicker, now this is the future of gaming. Jokes aside the description of the mousepad fits my mudspot riddled Hien perfectly and I cannot imagine buying a new pad and getting THAT for an experience. Thank you for the great review and taking the bullet for us peripheral nerds. 8:36 I DID NOT HEED THE WARNING! Had the video at max volume on my IEM's with a super sharp sound curve :( Who knew that warnings exist for a reason
The Cerapad V2 was, in retrospect, the largest detriment to my aim for the year I had it. I was new to the hobby, so I didn't know that everything was going very very wrong, I thought I just kinda sucked at shooters! I could only play flick heavy shooters with zero tracking like TF2, and I used the Sword in The Finals just to avoid aiming 😅, dark dark times. The static friction with (quickly) worn skates felt like glue, and my mind was blown when I got a different pad. As you mentioned, I too would get my fingers glued to the pad and my mouse would damn near run them over if I wasn't conscious. I didn't run a sleeve, I ran a drawing tablet half-glove thing. It was very silly, and I do wish I wisened up a bit sooner. Thanks for the write up on this, I'm glad to see some more critical coverage of a product that really doesn't deliver.
@@pinguefied haha yeah now I feel a little flip floppy, but this last month or so after the Cerapad has been a huge shift! I had no idea what I was missing, my Cerapad is sticky like glue. It feels like you need to force your mouse to "break loose" and then it flings away with all that energy you gave it. In a crazy way, the Cerapad had forced me to build some excellent flick control, so jumping to the Raiden and Key was surprisingly easy. As you said, it can literally only get better and I've gotta say I agree.
This video popped up in my recommended, love your style of videos. I've been using the Kin X (with custom design, shouldn't be any different surface-wise) for about 2 weeks now, with my FK2-DW with full size TJX skates. I really like the TJX Skates on cloth and I thought the Kin v2 was great with them. I don't have any skin sticking issues on my Kin X, but I am going to put some obsidian dots on my OP1 8k and see how they wear down on this pad.
I definitely feel you on the subjective vs objective thing - any tool that humans are going to use needs to focus more on *feeling* good to use, not just being the best according to metrics. Especially if you choose the wrong metrics to focus on!
The more videos of glass pads/hard pads I watch, the harder it becomes for me to choose one, either because it's a limited edition or because they're either too fast or too slow. I saw the Apeiron (very cool desing) but is very expensive for me (233$ delivery without the pad) I want to pick my first pad but it's quite confusing, i was looking in reddit for the best glass pads but It doesn't convince me, the TJX kin x by you was something that I was looking for, because I always used a cloth pad and I saw some reviews talking good about it, but change the skates every 1-2 weeks isn't affordable, any recommendations? For the beginning.
hi !! would you mind linking that keyboard flowchart? Any other support for layouts is appreciated (switching from qwerty to custom split, ~35 keys). Thanks, love your stuff, and I don't game anymore!
At first I was curious to see if as a RawAccel user the Kin X would be a good way to not limit my consistency to be bound to software, but it's clear that it's not there yet...
I heard from the podcast you did with viscose, that you think Gwolves' HTR is a worse mouse than the hsk pro and also the HTX mini why? After re-watching your videos in the past few days, you have made me want to play both Battlefield V and use mt fingertip grip mice again. I have (zaunkoenig m3k, keychron m4 and the zeromouse first version) and I am playing much better with the keychron m4 because of the size and hourglass shape, but having larger hands than yours (18.5x9.5) I feel it is too little wide and sometimes my hands hurt even if I hold it like I was holding an egg between my fingers, any mouse recommendations to try? great content bro enjoy it so much
that's like the thinnest ftip mouse on the market LOL, you might have to look into custom unless you mean your hands are too wide? in which case how do you feel about the other two ftip mice you've tried? i mostly think the curvature on the htr just doesn't really make sense. the inwards slope on the thumb feels a bit strange and the right side feels very odd + causes me some strain. i get the feeling you could make it into something great with clay, but it requires a bit of trial and error ty for the comment c:
+1 on curvature @@pinguefied, i love how the sides taper towards the front on the hsk pro. i think part of the reason works so well is because it follows the natural resting position of your hand, shame that other companies are seemingly afraid of trying it.
@@pinguefied i mean, the zeromouse have the same contact point of the op1, but is less long, but is too long to have full motion in the grip to me. The Zaunkoenig m3k have the same problem you said in your video, it has that shape that widens at the end, so I end up holding it from behind and it tends to run away. I like the shape of the keychron m4 very much but I find it's too little wide, however the hourglass shape I find super, I aim much better, so I wanted to know if you had any advice?
that's very tricky. i'm also partial to the hourglass shape (that's part of the reason i like the htx mini sm), but you can't really get any thinner than the m4 atm :( you'd have to look into custom or smth like the titan-1
@@pinguefied i think i gonna try the htx mini, then wait for new mice because on elo shape there is so much new shape but they are mod kit or future release so, hopefully maybe it will working great lol ty sm for the help
I had the same issues , I got the red version and 300 hours in red flakes still appear on my skates . If you don’t wipe it off it destroys your skates and pad . I want something between the Skypad 3.0 and the cera pad . Any recommendations ?
I have the previous version of cerapad, i used it for like 6 months, the sound of the pad it can become annoying, every particule gives a disgusting feeling, eats the skates, in winter the pad is really cold and in summer u get stuck, the downsides are huge for me, im never going back to it
19:04 is also why i believe that finding someone with a similar expirience to you is important for looking at reveiws, i am lucky that pingu and i both had a similar expirience on glass and his expirence with the raiden was exactly the same as mine, he was the reason i brought the zero and have loved it ever since. (thank you pingu lol) so that human interaction with perhiperals goes past data and even other humans
sadly i'm not too sure, i haven't used a controlled hardpad i've been truly impressed with personally. the only thing i have personal exp with and fills a similar niche for me is the key83mid, with its sleeve compatibility and consistent friction
I have the kin v2 with the plastix mouse skates and just got them on tuesday. So far so good, it's been my favorite mouse pad I've ever used so far. No excessive wear or anything that I've noticed yet.
@@pinguefied Just curious, when you're playing how hard do you push down on your mouse? That might be a big factor. I barely put any weight on my mouse at all and I wonder if that might be the difference. I know a lot of people like to really dig in when stopping after a flick / tracking.
it happens under pressure occasionally, but not more than average, i only occasionally use it as a stopping technique and never during tracking. i think i'm just more aware and averse to pad muddiness than the average fps player
I've got mixed feelings about TJX. I recently got the Kin V2 when it went on sale recently and it took them forever to ship (3 weeks); when I inquired what the holdup was it was pretty much "heh, new product launch has us busy". I had some fomo about the X, but figured I'd use the V2 and pick up the X depending on my experience. So far my v2 has been fine with my stock OP18k skates, and the pad is relatively quiet, and not sticking to my hand. The QC is questionable from a consistency standpoint where I find the coating isn't very even, and there's quite a few spots where it looks like there's no coating at all. So far it's been everything I want, but I also got the Plastix skates in case I find them necessary. I also got a Skypad 4.0 I haven't opened yet, but maybe I'll keep it on hand. I feel like I'm a weirdo where I've tried to do everything I can to defeat the dust in my environment (constant dusting, vacuuming, air filters, etc.) but have been losing the battle and I'm exhausted with how frequently I needed to wash my cloth pads to keep them from becoming muddy. Glass was the only solution it felt, so here I am giving them a try. I hope my Kin v2 keeps me happy, but we'll see if gets slow/scratchy/sticky/inconsistent. Also so cool to here you were experimenting with keyboard layouts. I think I saw you with a Corne in one of your videos, and it makes sense that us ortho users love trying new layouts.
hope it continues to treat u well!! in my experience i have less issues with dust on glass with dot skates as well yeah i've mesesd with like 4-5 layouts now haha, which ortho kb are using these days? :o
@@pinguefied When I'm not on the Wooting, I've been using the Preonic since I found it hard to type mid-game with something like the Corne since I throw the other half of the board somewhere else :p Also feels really natural to ADAD in comparison to column staggered boards.
Any recommendations for the slowest glass pad (aside from the Cerapad) that can actual be found in stock anywhere? I can't find the Herut, Glaze, or Empress control in stock anywhere and I missed out on the Hana preorders.
@@pinguefied Thanks! I had just found the Wraith in solid black when I seen your notification. Probably give it a try. The Kin V2 was my first hard pad and I've been using Obsidian Pro Air skates. I haven't noticed them being eaten down so much as weird grittiness that would randomly come and go and I think it might be one and the same.... Almost like tiny particles of the skate that occasionally breaks free and is like nails on a chalkboard until I clean them.
@@pinguefied I've only used them with the Kin v2 and I have mixed feelings. I've been using them over the purple (non-Pro) Airs and the Ghostglide Cyclones because they're a little more controlled, but those others have a nicer/smoother feel and sound than the Pro Airs. I have a couple sets on the way of the new Black Fox skates from Unusual Way that I'm eager to try out as well.
@@JermVVarfare sry just realized it's the gamesense sonar not the radar!! thank u for the insight though :D maybe i'll do a skate roundup sometome but it would be a massive vid x_x
i think in terms of pure quality/performance it's the op18k. i can't think of another mouse i've been more impressed with that wasn't for me. honorable mention to the hitscan hyperlight, i haven't used it enough but it's really absurd quality for the price! i've been maining the hsk pro and htx mini, still not sure which i prefer yet. i don't main the prev two mice bc they don't suit my hand size/grip well enough
@@pinguefiedI have and op1 but it also doesn’t really fit my grip I have a similar grip to you would you recommend I get the hsk pro Or htx mini ? Also I love how you interact with us in the comments you are the goat
Wanted to buy today. Now i dont. I play with cloth control pads since ever but after a few weeks every pad gets hard to micro adjust. I have an mousepad and Skates Psychosis...it really makes a difference between 20 and 5 kills in cs. I dont know what to do 😂 i have more than 10 pads and different skates at home, with every pad i had the same issue. Fresh and new everything is perfect smooth and easy micro adjustment. After a short period of time unplayable....any idea?
it does feel like a hardpad would be the best solution for you. cloth pads will have day to day variance that's wider than glass for sure. maybe get some dehumidifiers for your gaming space and see if that helps? for controlled hardpads if that's what you're looking for, i've heard good things about the GLSSWRKS Hana (a similar one will come out soonish), and decent things about the gamesense sonar/wraith cosmic glass. you could also try out some more controlled skates on normal speed glass pads, like the ultraglide brakes or obsidian pro airs. i haven't used those two enough though, so ymmv.
What mousepad should I buy... I literally have the same problems as you... I hate static friction, I love the texture and the feedback and slow down that I get from that graininess of my desk... but it wears off since it's a coating... what pad should i get, to have easy micros, while maintaining good flicks? thank you. I always watch your videos!
@@pinguefied , if we count only skypad 3.0, Pulsar Super Glide or Razer Atlas? The last one is a bit pricy, though. But I already have the Cerapad Kin. Is there a set of skates that would make it usable? Would reducing static friction or make dynamic friction more prominent make it usable?
@ i could not find a set of skates that made it usable, maybe skates harder than the cerapad so u wear down the pad instead LOL my vote is for the pulsar superglide, but it's much faster than the kin
Padsmith Empress and the Akko Glasspads are the closest thing I have found to a "control" glass pad. TJX with cerapad one. I don't have issues with skates much on mine. But, the sweat stick is bonkers. Makes the pad almost unusable. Slightest oil even from your hands. Boom, locked... Down.
PLEASE review the artic v1, rushed to get it and it only has like 4 review videos which worries me a bit. Its suppose to be faster than the Kin the more stopping power than the Sky 004. I play 35cm so its important I have at least a little stopping power :)
Who would have thought removing the entire reason for a glass pad aka lowest friction possible would be a bad idea.... People just need to admit they have poor mouse control, if they need any sort of balanced or control pad be it glass or cloth.
Is there a way to concept glass pads i kinda have an idea to slow down glass without the use of coating without adding a lot of static friction but have no idea how production works
Hahaha sounds like your waiting for an anti gravity mouse. I think maglev would be horrible for aiming imo bc you have to fight the force of the magnets repelling the mouse
was using my viper v3 pro just fine on my wallhack pad. got the cerapad out of curiosity. with the new cnc milled corepads no difference in feel HOWEVER the viper v3 pro did not track on the cerapad.
hey i just recently bought the plastix dots because i couldnt find anywhere selling the jades/obsidians. Do you know where i can buy them? Also, heres to hoping these skates dont ruin my saturn pro 😭
@@emimimira ;; i rly hope we were a fringe case or they have improved since then, i don't see other ppl complain about them very much so maybe they're fine you could go for the aliexpress alternative to jades, the ultraglide speeds are very similar and much cheaper
kinda, i did a month long experiment with it when it came out i tried to use the fastest, smoothest skates i owned to see if such a fast surface would help my mouse control but it was just so fast that most of the problems i was having were caused by the pad, rather than the pad illuminating existing issues i think with more reasonable skate pairings it's a solid pad that most people would be happy with, but it is still kinda on the extremes when it comes to speed and doesn't offer the feedback of something like the beast
@@Swandk it's hard to say, bc there are a lot of glasspads that exists on the extremes, and if you're into that particular niche, you'll love them. the beast is insane if you love fast pads, the kazemi is perfect if you value smoothness the most, things like that. if you have your eyes on the skypad 4 i definitely think it's solid. maybe invest in a few different skates bc those will pretty drastically change the feel/speed of the pad
@@pinguefied other pads, i use an ultralight fingertip mouse (13 grams), any glass pad recommendation better than the skypad? something like super controlled but with the glass benefits
@@daemonkisure2952 i haven't used a controlled glass pad that i've been 100% happy with. the options i'm aware of are the cerapad kin, wraith cosmic, laonda glaze, glsswrks hana and gamesense sonar. sadly i've only used the first one and u prolly know how i feel about it LOL the glsswrks hana is the one i've heard the highest praise for, but also isn't _super_ controlled. you'd probably find the laonda glaze ultra the interesting when that comes out! i also experimented with using cloth skates on glass which gave me an experience similar to what you're describing, but it was finnicky haha
@@pinguefied i used a superglide to work on my technique in aimtrainers and it took me 6 months to get to masters complete. then i did the same but better on a hien in about a week 🤣 at this point i am not even sure if glas is the answer as i can track now on almost everything even on my zero. i would even dare say the friction can help you when the bot changes direction. i play mainly cs2 and i don't think glass is viable there as your skill floor is so much lower when you are not on point and dialed in. but as a training tool glas seems to be very viable as you can clearly see the flaws in your technique. i think thats also the reason why you hardly see any pros use glass pads. i think that they are cumbersome to carry around is negligible because they probably have a dude responsible for that.
@@pinguefied I haven't tried the V1 but damn I thought the break in period was still pretty significant. I like my cerapad kin, but I can very much appreciate a negative review and keeping it true to your thoughts :)
i've been quite happy with the key83 lately, but my two fav glasspads are prolly the superglide xxl (pretty balanced speed and it's huge!!), and the beast (fast af, but executed rly well)
idk if i will get answer but do you think that is worth to change from keychron m4 to hsk pro or the htr? Idk if there is any major difference to swap my mice
I've never seen a hardpad so sticky that it causes your hand to squeak on it by moving 5cm LMAO I legit think polished scrap MDF wood would be better than this
Oh, it’s a pity that the author of the channel will never be able to try glass pads - Cisa Pad 2 revisions from Mother Russia with MEGA film (coating on the back side). Here's where you can get the best control and fastest pad, two in one, for the price of 1 glass mat. All this with your own personal design and ANY shape and size. Currently using plastix on my EGG xm28k loving my custom kin X except the much heavier sticking compared to my sp004 and kin v2. Haven’t really had too much variance on the plastix but I’m getting quite annoyed with stickiness from moisture other than that I like the pad. And the custom print came out in amazing quality.
At least workman is a better layout than the apinguefyh layout... I'm still typing on it to this day btw. But I've also learned to type at about the same speed on both qwertz and qwerty since I use both in uni rather frequently.
@pinguefied I've been wanting to switch off from it but that would just tank my productivity too much to be feasible :)) But also I got a Charachorder recently and am learning that atm. So ig I'll stick with apinguefyh for at home keyboard use for the foreseeable future LOL
Have the opposite experience with the PlastiX personally. I don't have a Cerapad but I've used them on other glass pads and I always go back to them because they're literally the only consistent and reliable skates for me and they don't wear down at all even when I'm actively trying. Every other type of PTFE skate becomes annoyingly inconsistent after the break in and I'd have to change them every few weeks. Maybe I'm also just going schizo but I don't think so since the PlastiX haven't let me down at all. And yes I've used every possible skate that is known on all sorts of glass pads I don't like any sort of PTFE on hard pads, that stuff was clearly meant for cloth and it shows. The PlastiX aren't fun on cloth, PTFE is and for glass it's exactly the opposite.
@@pinguefiedI'll try the Kin X eventually as well when they switch to a full silicone base and offer shipping to Europe because I really don't feel like paying 60 bucks for shipping before tax also cooks me further. The custom prints is a massive W though because companies have gotten way too comfortable with limited drops and overpriced anime girl pads just because they bank on the FOMO.
@@jR0xasi agree it's a useful service, and i also agree it's frustrating certain brands refuse to innovate and just release different limited versions of the same surface or never talk at all about the pads performance i don't think all anime pad drops are like that though, it seems like glsswrks/tekkusai are limited far more by the cost of production and every pad is innovative in some way but yeah if it didn't work, companies wouldn't do it ^^; can only blame them so much
@pinguefied Sold every glass pad except for my two Padsmith ones. Glass is too similar to each other compared to cloth where I've kept every pad because the variety is huge. Since most glass pads are literally made in the same factory the biggest difference between them is the coating lol. I believe the Kin X is a unique surface which is probably why it feels different. I might try it some day but I think I'm done with trying new glass for a good while.
@ Torn between HTR and HTX mini. 17.5 x 10 hands, main claw, but aimed best with HSK Pro ftip, but was shakey and lost patience. Although I am down to train and improve stability, would you say the HTR might be better for less experienced ftip users than HSK Pro? I also want to claw the HTX Mini.. Sorry for so many questions, it’s just the way you speak and think about mice is very similar to me, so I feel like your answers would help me tremendously as I can only get one mouse rn. Thanks!
@Lock3n happy to answer questions! i don't think the htr is like a beginner ftip option; if it suits your grip style then it's definitely a solid mouse on paper, but i'm honestly not really sure what grip style it works with. it should be easier to be stable with though bc it has a larger grip width like the opposite side profile to the hsk i intend to experiment with some clay soon to see if i can make the HTR work once my htx vid is done. but overall i think the htx is a rly good middle ground option: it allows to have pretty good fingertip mobility while clawing or be able to switch between the two quite easily. for pure ftip it's a bit wide but i still think it's a very solid shape
surprisingly solid glide, static friction is just a bit too high and arm sleeves don't work that well with the surface coating. sweater sleeve + glass skates might be crazy tho overall i give the viscose desk a 5/10 as a pad, and a 9/10 in the realm of desks-as-mousepads
@@pinguefied Skates: I got my pad before Christmas, and the skates are still holding up perfectly. They don’t feel slow, scratchy, or make any noise. It’s just PTFE dots, which I found kind of strange at first. Glide: The surface feels… odd. It’s hard to explain, but it almost gives off a sense of mouse acceleration. Tracking is really solid, but it gets slippery when I speed up. “Stick-Free” Surface: My experience was totally different. My arm glides over the surface effortlessly, even when I’m sweaty-it never sticks. The only issue is my fingertips. Sometimes, they create friction when I move across the pad. It’s not sticky, but it makes the surface feel inconsistent at times. Conclusion: Overall, I actually like this pad a lot. Tracking is excellent, and target switching feels really smooth.
Yeah I’m glad it works out well too. Surprisingly the glide started to work well with my skin after constant wiping with a microfiber cloth/glass spray cleaner. I think I done this enough times to the point where I can last 5+ hours without my skin or fingertips sticking. I am loving this pad the more I put hours into it. Hopefully this works well in the summer but time will tell.

As an cloth pad enjoyer myself that never had to replace a mouse skate ever, I have to respect the passion and the effort

@@shomae7208 what happened to his?
@ not quite sure but he said he is still waiting for tj to send him a new pad.
I think I read that at least one of them is going to be on vacation and or not working the entire week of Christmas so you may have to wait a bit longer. I ordered one last night out of curiosity. Since I have a lot of hours on the original and the v2, should be an interesting comparison
you know I don't even use MnK I use controller with gyro but man these videos are addicting.
Looking for a replacement, but with glasspads in general being expensive and not having any interest in cloth anymore I kind of have to stick with the kinX for some time.
aw i'm sorry you're stuck with it ;; but i'm glad to have another testimony like mine
This is one of the best pad videos I’ve ever seen.
hey my comment made a cameo! i appreciate the honest review.
im so glad I came to this video (you are the best mousepad reviewer on yt) I wanted a new glass pad and i was seeing if I get this pad for xmas, but after this video and the annoucement of the guardian by tekk im buying that pad.
- No issues with sweat stains or coating wearing either (even if it was the experience of others)
So I thought that maybe I was just playing in a different way that lets me use the pad in a better way, I still don't want to gamble on the Kin X for now.
Anyway, big fan of yours and your ASMRish reviews. Keep up the good work ! 🥰
gotcha, i had one other person mention the v2 also had a break in period. i tried to make it work for like 2 months so i prolly just forgot 😭 but it definitely wasn't as egregious as the v1 at least
i also didn't have chipping or staining issues with the v2 but quite a lot of ppl did so i figured it was worth mentioning. very surprised u didn't have any skate issues though :o did you try using the skates on other hardpads after spending time with them on the v2?
ty for the kind words c:
Keep up the amazing work ❤
thank you!! the harut is much subtler in its static friction, far less sticky
Thanks for the write up on this, I'm glad to see some more critical coverage of a product that really doesn't deliver.
wow!! it's crazy to see your opinion change so much on the cerapad so soon after trying new stuff, that's really interesting
thank you for sharing!

At first I was curious to see if as a RawAccel user the Kin X would be a good way to not limit my consistency to be bound to software, but it's clear that it's not there yet...
I heard from the podcast you did with viscose, that you think Gwolves' HTR is a worse mouse than the hsk pro and also the HTX mini why? After re-watching your videos in the past few days, you have made me want to play both Battlefield V and use mt fingertip grip mice again. I have (zaunkoenig m3k, keychron m4 and the zeromouse first version) and I am playing much better with the keychron m4 because of the size and hourglass shape, but having larger hands than yours (18.5x9.5) I feel it is too little wide and sometimes my hands hurt even if I hold it like I was holding an egg between my fingers, any mouse recommendations to try?
great content bro enjoy it so much
that's like the thinnest ftip mouse on the market LOL, you might have to look into custom
unless you mean your hands are too wide? in which case how do you feel about the other two ftip mice you've tried?
i mostly think the curvature on the htr just doesn't really make sense. the inwards slope on the thumb feels a bit strange and the right side feels very odd + causes me some strain. i get the feeling you could make it into something great with clay, but it requires a bit of trial and error
ty for the comment c:
@@pinguefied i think i gonna try the htx mini, then wait for new mice because on elo shape there is so much new shape but they are mod kit or future release so, hopefully maybe it will working great lol
ty sm for the help
I had the same issues , I got the red version and 300 hours in red flakes still appear on my skates . If you don’t wipe it off it destroys your skates and pad . I want something between the Skypad 3.0 and the cera pad . Any recommendations ?
Hey Pingu , I was wondering what cm/360 you play on?
between 25 and 35 usually
I have the previous version of cerapad, i used it for like 6 months, the sound of the pad it can become annoying, every particule gives a disgusting feeling, eats the skates, in winter the pad is really cold and in summer u get stuck, the downsides are huge for me, im never going back to it
What are your favourite mouse skates to use on glass mousepads?
jades, and recently i was impressed with the rennsports on smoother pads, haven't tested extensively tho
would you say the sypad is the best glass pad and or better than any cerapad? Also love the vids
@@hxvid9220 better than any cerapad due to its lack of dealbreaker issues yeah
best glass pad if you really like speed + smoothness potentially
19:04 is also why i believe that finding someone with a similar expirience to you is important for looking at reveiws, i am lucky that pingu and i both had a similar expirience on glass and his expirence with the raiden was exactly the same as mine, he was the reason i brought the zero and have loved it ever since. (thank you pingu lol) so that human interaction with perhiperals goes past data and even other humans
what would you say is a good alternative considering that the Kin is actually at a fairly decent price? Great video btw!
sadly i'm not too sure, i haven't used a controlled hardpad i've been truly impressed with personally.
the only thing i have personal exp with and fills a similar niche for me is the key83mid, with its sleeve compatibility and consistent friction

I have the kin v2 with the plastix mouse skates and just got them on tuesday. So far so good, it's been my favorite mouse pad I've ever used so far. No excessive wear or anything that I've noticed yet.
glad ur liking it!!
I think I saw you with a Corne in one of your videos, and it makes sense that us ortho users love trying new layouts.
hope it continues to treat u well!! in my experience i have less issues with dust on glass with dot skates as well
yeah i've mesesd with like 4-5 layouts now haha, which ortho kb are using these days? :o
@@pinguefied When I'm not on the Wooting, I've been using the Preonic since I found it hard to type mid-game with something like the Corne since I throw the other half of the board somewhere else :p
Also feels really natural to ADAD in comparison to column staggered boards.
@@Mandydeth right? one day i hope to do a video of making an split ortho HE board, bc rn i can't swap off even for gaming ;;

Any recommendations for the slowest glass pad (aside from the Cerapad) that can actual be found in stock anywhere? I can't find the Herut, Glaze, or Empress control in stock anywhere and I missed out on the Hana preorders.
supposedly the wraith cosmic and gamesense radar are in that camp, but i haven't tried either to vouch
@@JermVVarfare how do u like the pro airs? have you tried the original pros to compare?
@@pinguefied I've only used them with the Kin v2 and I have mixed feelings. I've been using them over the purple (non-Pro) Airs and the Ghostglide Cyclones because they're a little more controlled, but those others have a nicer/smoother feel and sound than the Pro Airs. I have a couple sets on the way of the new Black Fox skates from Unusual Way that I'm eager to try out as well.

i think in terms of pure quality/performance it's the op18k. i can't think of another mouse i've been more impressed with that wasn't for me. honorable mention to the hitscan hyperlight, i haven't used it enough but it's really absurd quality for the price!

@pinguefied thanks man, do you think with slow skates the key-83 could be worth a try?
the section about the plastix skates made me realise i also messed up my hayate otsu by using them on a viper v3 pro 💀 time to flip it i guess
LMAO this is so sad
@pinguefied honestly when I used it I was like wow, these skates have some great stopping power 😭 not realising it ate into the pad. type99 time? 😭😭
"You have to buy the skates for the set bonus" lmao
What mousepad should I buy... I literally have the same problems as you... I hate static friction, I love the texture and the feedback and slow down that I get from that graininess of my desk... but it wears off since it's a coating... what pad should i get, to have easy micros, while maintaining good flicks? thank you. I always watch your videos!
if you hate static friction and like texture, the beast/the guardian fill that niche pretty well, but it's extremely fast.
@ i could not find a set of skates that made it usable, maybe skates harder than the cerapad so u wear down the pad instead LOL
my vote is for the pulsar superglide, but it's much faster than the kin

Padsmith Empress and the Akko Glasspads are the closest thing I have found to a "control" glass pad.
TJX with cerapad one. I don't have issues with skates much on mine. But, the sweat stick is bonkers. Makes the pad almost unusable. Slightest oil even from your hands. Boom, locked... Down.
PLEASE review the artic v1, rushed to get it and it only has like 4 review videos which worries me a bit. Its suppose to be faster than the Kin the more stopping power than the Sky 004. I play 35cm so its important I have at least a little stopping power :)
i don't think i'll be able to sadly!! i'm sure you'll like it if you're into glass pads though, the kin x is just a bit of an extreme one
Sad to hear, maybe I’ll leave a little comment on a newer vid at the time of testing. Thanks for the response
Who would have thought removing the entire reason for a glass pad aka lowest friction possible would be a bad idea.... People just need to admit they have poor mouse control, if they need any sort of balanced or control pad be it glass or cloth.

i tried to use the fastest, smoothest skates i owned to see if such a fast surface would help my mouse control but it was just so fast that most of the problems i was having were caused by the pad, rather than the pad illuminating existing issues

At least workman is a better layout than the apinguefyh layout...
I'm still typing on it to this day btw. But I've also learned to type at about the same speed on both qwertz and qwerty since I use both in uni rather frequently.
wait that's crazy LMAO
@pinguefied I've been wanting to switch off from it but that would just tank my productivity too much to be feasible :))
But also I got a Charachorder recently and am learning that atm. So ig I'll stick with apinguefyh for at home keyboard use for the foreseeable future LOL
LOL why do you just have a whetstone, do you sharpen your balisongs?
haha it's for chefs' knives
The PlastiX aren't fun on cloth, PTFE is and for glass it's exactly the opposite.
oo i'm glad it worked out for u :>
@@pinguefiedI'll try the Kin X eventually as well when they switch to a full silicone base and offer shipping to Europe because I really don't feel like paying 60 bucks for shipping before tax also cooks me further. The custom prints is a massive W though because companies have gotten way too comfortable with limited drops and overpriced anime girl pads just because they bank on the FOMO.
@@jR0xasi agree it's a useful service, and i also agree it's frustrating certain brands refuse to innovate and just release different limited versions of the same surface or never talk at all about the pads performance
i don't think all anime pad drops are like that though, it seems like glsswrks/tekkusai are limited far more by the cost of production and every pad is innovative in some way
but yeah if it didn't work, companies wouldn't do it ^^; can only blame them so much
@pinguefied Sold every glass pad except for my two Padsmith ones.
What mouse you maining now?
still the hsk pro but i've been experimenting with the htx mini. i think i still prefer the hsk pro though
Thanks!
@Lock3n happy to answer questions! i don't think the htr is like a beginner ftip option; if it suits your grip style then it's definitely a solid mouse on paper, but i'm honestly not really sure what grip style it works with. it should be easier to be stable with though bc it has a larger grip width like the opposite side profile to the hsk
i intend to experiment with some clay soon to see if i can make the HTR work once my htx vid is done. but overall i think the htx is a rly good middle ground option: it allows to have pretty good fingertip mobility while clawing or be able to switch between the two quite easily. for pure ftip it's a bit wide but i still think it's a very solid shape
Thoughts on gpx 2?
don't have strong feelings on the gpx, it's a very safe shape and solid mouse. hurts my hand like hell but my grip/hands are just incompatible haha
80% marketing, 20% mouse ... tbh
the slowest glasspad from glass is still the Wraith Cosmic V2
ya i've gotta try it at some point,,
great review
wait are jades more op than plastix
if u have no issues with the plastix (kazemi is actually a pretty good use case if you don't mind the speed), then stick with them haha
damn shorty so many skates im jealous ngl..
Super disappointed with this, I was hoping this would be great. Praying their next release is better.
kitters >:3
Maybe the Hana?
mhmm i'd like to try it one day

Desk review when
surprisingly solid glide, static friction is just a bit too high and arm sleeves don't work that well with the surface coating. sweater sleeve + glass skates might be crazy tho
overall i give the viscose desk a 5/10 as a pad, and a 9/10 in the realm of desks-as-mousepads
@ lmao i have the ikea utelspelare and its surprisingly half decent but I don’t wanna wear down my skates
That’s a little disappointing, I just ordered this pad a week ago so hopefully these issues won’t be as bad for me 😅
i hope the same,, i'm one of the only dissenting voices so hopefully i'm in the minority

Skates:
I got my pad before Christmas, and the skates are still holding up perfectly. They don’t feel slow, scratchy, or make any noise. It’s just PTFE dots, which I found kind of strange at first.
Glide:
The surface feels… odd. It’s hard to explain, but it almost gives off a sense of mouse acceleration. Tracking is really solid, but it gets slippery when I speed up.
“Stick-Free” Surface:
My experience was totally different. My arm glides over the surface effortlessly, even when I’m sweaty-it never sticks. The only issue is my fingertips. Sometimes, they create friction when I move across the pad. It’s not sticky, but it makes the surface feel inconsistent at times.
Conclusion:
Overall, I actually like this pad a lot. Tracking is excellent, and target switching feels really smooth.
glad it worked out for you :D ty for the update
Yeah I’m glad it works out well too. Surprisingly the glide started to work well with my skin after constant wiping with a microfiber cloth/glass spray cleaner. I think I done this enough times to the point where I can last 5+ hours without my skin or fingertips sticking. I am loving this pad the more I put hours into it. Hopefully this works well in the summer but time will tell.
Get a taobao clone mousepad for custom art (custom art isn't even exclusive anymore) + feels just like a skypad. (literally sold my skypad to use the clone there is no difference + custom art)
i'm skeptical but i'm glad it worked out for you haha
i'll give em a go at some point
