  • Alyn spends a very windy night on Slieve Corragh and experiences some amazing skies in the morning. Kitted out with his trusty Lanshan2 and little stove he spends a comfortable night stuffing his face with BBQ Pulled Pork, Cadbury's Caramel and great coffee.

Was an amazing spot Jens. Beautiful views. One of my favourite spots to view the Ben Crom reservoir and in the other direction, towards Slieve Croob. Love it

Hi Alyn. Lovely colourful sky's in the morning and nice to have freshly brewed coffee to get you going for the morning walkout. Nice one 👍

Great night out Andrew and rewarded by the skies in the morning. Not sure I would be quite so positive had it been grey and bleak. Ha ha ha. Coffee is a big plus. New addition to the backpack

Alyn, a cool wee adventure fitted in with precious time👍 Always good to get out and you never fully know what you will experience in the mountains, like that racing cloud and beautiful colours in the morning☀ Always a bonus to get some settled sleep💤 no matter how long. Still waiting on a nice settled spell though time is running out for this year!

Thats exactly my panic Gerry. Just feel time is running out this year so just trying to take every opportunity I can. Was a special experience. The windy night was so fun and the firey sky was just a perfect way to start the day.

Your Lanshan tent is coping very well with the winds Alyn! Great you were able to manage a night out in the tent after work this time of year! 🤗 Beautiful light in the sky showing off those rushing clouds from the wind. Looked like a really enjoyable night out away from it all 😎

Miriam, it was a complete spur- of- the- moment thing. Decided the day before and packed that night, went to work and was on the mountain by 3.30. No messin around. Lol. The poor we tent is so battered and bruised at this point, it has taken so much, but its still standing. Quality. Although I was sure that night might be the last! The next morning took everything to a new level- just beautiful.

@@walkwatchers it has taken some testing from the wind alright! 🏆 Meant to say I really liked your choice of music too!

Thanks Jason. Was definitely worth braving the elements for the stunning sky displays. I did fear i might literally blow off the mountain but Caramel makes everything better. Ha ha ha

Brilliant Alyn 👌 So good to be able to get to a camp so quick after work like that. Good experience pitching up in challenging conditions too and more than worth it with those morning skies and views. I've been on Corragh and it's a fab summit that most probably overlook heading between Commedagh and Hare's Gap. Nice one 👏😊

Thanks Niall. It really was a last minute thing but absolutely worth it. Its another great thing about the Mournes, because they are so close together you can be in the heart of the range quite quickly. Good for the head. Was a great experience.

😂 I was laughing. I am finishing editing a recent wild camp.. I too had BBQ pulled pork but I had a flake after it with a cuppa. Loved it man. A good silicone set of ear plugs is what you need. They really work. Great job pal.

Hi Alyn, those colours in the sky were absolutely stunning in the morning, what a treat to sit and enjoy your coffee to! I’m sure that 🍫 was pretty firm! Chocolate - out of the fridge or room temperature?? Thanks for the wee blast man, putting me in the mood now, hopefully get out very soon if I’m lucky!😊

Gary, chocolate is good at any temperature but its best straight from the fridge so at the top of a cold mountain its perfect.
The sky was amazing. I felt so lucky because I honestly wasn't sure what it was gonna be like- could've ended up with a dreich aul mornin but the colours on those cloud stacks were like something from the sistine Chapel. Let me know buddy and I'll go with ya if youre goin up
