    What a beautiful spot to pitch your tent for the night Alyn 😊 Wonderful how the morning cleared up for you and that you could have that time to chill out in your spacious tent before packing up the next morning 😍 Very impressed with your chocolate and whiskey evening dining - all balanced out with your porridge the next morning! You captured some lovely scenes of the Mountain views and the terrain along your route…looked a lovely night!! 😎

      I have a very balanced diet, Miriam!!!! Ha ha ha ha. Did you not know the healthy porridge cancels out the chocolate!?
      The camp site was brilliant and I did get the best weather. Was hoping for a sunrise but the fog put pay to that. But there is nothing like a lie in on the top of a mountain. Was a great walk.

      Thanks pal. Its such a great walk. I was thinking of us all at the top of the Devils Coach Road too. Good times.
      That wee camping site was phenomenal. Flat, sheltered, great views. The man knows his stuff

      Thank you so much for the wonderful message. Ireland is such a beautiful place to hillwalk and the Mourne Mountains (and I may be biased) are just spectacular. They are all bunched close together and create such super views and vistas. Im so glad you enjoyed the video. Keep in touch

    Just love it when you are snug in the tent and the rain comes on . As long as it goes away for packing up next morn though 😂.

      Oh so true. There's something about being in a tent, away from the everything and the sound of the rain. It really oughta have a proper name. But yeah- all very nice until you have to get out in the wet and cold of the morning to pack up!!!! Lol

    Alyn, nothing beats ripe and juicy blackberries. The midges🦟 love that still air😊 You had some beautiful evening light☀ That is definitely a cracking wild camp spot with fabulous views out over the Annalong Valley and I will try it out👍 Cadburys Caramel and Whiskey is an interesting evening meal😊 Lie in's are the best when wild camping, especially when you can then get up to those fabulous views as the cloud lifted👍 A really cool trip😊

      Gerry it was a good one. Everything worked out beautifully, the route, the weather, the camp. Was so happy with it all.....except the midges. You don't see them comin and then suddenly you're covered in the wee blighters. And the blackberries were way too good to walk passed, could've eaten way more but was worried about the affect on my insides!!!!!!!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣

    Hi Alyn. Really enjoyed watching your hike and camp. That is a lovely spot for pitching a tent. The views of the Annalong valley brought back some fond memories 🙂. You may get one of the head nets, I know it doesn't look sexy, but it keeps the midges off 😂. Thanks for sharing your experience. All the best 👍 👌

      Thanks Andrew, it was a great walk and a beautiful night on the mountain. I agree, was passing the top of the Devils coach road and thinking of us all standing there- good memories.
      You know I have a head net! I just didn't take it!!!!!! Disaster!🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Great video as always, i love how you always include the important info at the end.
    I camped two nights ago and knowing I'd have the company of the dreaded midge I brought a citronella candle for the first time to burn in the vestibule while cooking and eating, along with jungle formula it worked surprisingly well at keeping them away so it'll be coming again for sure.

      Thanks so much for the comments. Im glad you're enjoying the videos. Im just a fella who enjoys hillwalking and not a superfit one at that so I think its good for folk to have a rough guide to how long it takes and distances etc.
      The midges are just crazy atm- I do have a net mask for my head and face which is fantastic but when you wanna get food its a whole palaver. Do you not find spray repellant makes you sticky? Not sure I enjoy the feeling particularly if im on an overnight.

      @ExploreAboveAndBelow Рік тому

      @@walkwatchers yea I had a net but didn't need it as when they arrived I got into the tent to cook and eat. I did have the door open to clear the steam etc and I'm convinced the candle made the difference. I only lightly spray my head with repellent as I wear long sleeves etc to cover up so can't say I've ever noticed it sticky.

    Excellent video, great wee camp spot, I’m surprised you’re not getting more views. Had my worst midge experience ever in annalong valley at the river. Never heard of that rain app, but I think what I used is similar, it’s called rain alarm
