I don't know why I haven't found your channel sooner! I'm new to Blender and always wanted to model cute characters. Your tutorials are lovely and easy to follow
Instead of deleting the starting cube, u can just select it and press ctrl + 1-4 to subdivide it. I like to start with a single subdivision on a cube and then adding loop cuts as I need them. This tends to keep my poly count low until I want to add more detail.
i am still pretty new to blender, but i just wanted to thank you for this tutorial! it was extremely helpful to me in the way you explained most things and i felt very proud of myself for being able to follow the tutorial and make a decent render :)
I think you are my favorite tutorial channel, you explain things so so well, lots of other tutorials they will just say how to do something, and not why they are doing it. Good job! excited for more :)
Im in the minute 2:30 and its so easy to understand good quality video and no need to stay more than 1 hour if u have already done more than 1 tutorial before than doing this one thanks alot.
had A LOT of problems with the UV editing and the mesh, but i finished it, its not identical but its something, i'll get better at doing the mesh and i'll do froggy again until they look the same as yours! thank u for this tutorial! learned a lot
i loved this tutorial, i didn't actually make a frog but this helped a lot in making my character, and i could barely do anything in blender before i saw this video :') thank u so much!
Did this tutorial in like 4h or so and i feel so lucky that this is the first tutorial i clicked on today. So much useful information, could understand almost every step. After the froggy I immediately jumped in and with some of my notes could create a cute little character right after! Thank you so much, seriously
If you like me are stuck at the UV part and don't know how to move things around just deselect everything then point with your mouse what you want to select and press "L", it will select the whole part! then just use as always G, R and S to move things around :D Thank you to Mar for this tutorial by the way it made me love Blender instantly!
So exciting!! I have been waiting for this, cannot wait to watch and try to follow the tutorial myself. Your content is amazing and I'm so happy you create these tutorials!
saying zed instead of zee confused me so hard lol. Thanks for the tutorial! It is REFRESHINGLY FAST! I loooove fast paced tutorials because I don't mind having to pause and go back a lot, especially when everything is important and relevant. I'd much rather have that than 'hi guys this is chris here. we're going to go to object mode now- oh, by the way, incase you didn't know the year blender was invented, it was 1864 the same year that steve jobs was born and I think...' like stfu I just want to know what to do next.
it took me 20 mins just to add the extra objects extension 💀(in the updated version of blender it is located in "Get extensions"--right above Add-ons--and it is called "Extra Mesh Objects")
I love to watch your timelapses so I'm glad there is (finally) a realtime tutorial! I would suggest adding timestamps for each section just in case, other than that it was fun to watch 😊💜
I was scrolling and saw a comment she replied to regarding this, saying "Thats a default texture I used for doing some tests. Its not needed to complete this tutorial so don’t worry about it."
Whilst I'm sure these types of videos must take a huge amount of effort to put together, please make more if you can. This was absolutely brilliant. I learnt so much. Thanks :D
Aaa this tutorial is so good! I've been wanting to get into Blender for a while but never had the right tutorial to start with! This really helped me out, thank you for making it!
I have been learning Blender from paid courses for a few months now, but your video is far better than all the videos I have seen ! Thank you so much for this, a wonderful video for all beginners with all the steps you need to render a 3D illustration. I love it.
this was good, but a few things make it a bit more confusing for newbies: - the double click to select an edge loop add on is unnecessary, you can already alt+click, and the default is better for people to learn - you use hot keys a lot, when it would be better to show people where to find it in the menu, for example Edge>Mark Seam
I'm so proud of myself! This tutorial is THE best of the best for beginners. I started off in blender with no knowledge and now I'm nearly done with my froggy! I'm so happy! There's hope for me yet! Thank you!
S Z 0 (S for scale, Z to scale on the Z axis and since we dont really want to scale them up (we just want to place all of them on the same spot vertically) we type 0, so wherever the vertices are, they meet at the average 0 on the Z axis)
@@Marcelaylucin In the video at 4:16 you double click between two verticies and a looptools menu comes up, that doesn’t come up for me even though I enabled the looptool addon at the start and saved it. 😢
You got me through an important university 3D computer graphics project with this video, I'm SO GRATEFUL! I didn't submit a frog but your teaching and instructions were amazing I was able to do my own unique character, a human man. Thanks so much for this video! truly a lifesaver.
I love how you give us the the keys you pressed and what side of the mouse you pressed in the little corner on the bottom! It helps so much, especially when I am not sure which key to press. And what I find interesting is that, I found your tutorial video because it is my very first time using blender. I am following along, and there is so much instruction, but you also get to learn by yourself! So you sort of have to troubleshoot with yourself, and it gives many opportunities to explore the interface and find your solution which I find pretty neat. Thank you so much for making blender so much more simple for me!
i am already lost at the Add-ons tab. My window doesn't really look like yours and i am having trouble finding a way around it, as it is needed to get the square-faced round cube... EDIT: i think this has to do with me using a newer version (?) but i had to install them first in the 'Get Extensions' tab.

Yay, I did it! If I hadn't already done Blender Guru's tutorial donut, this would have been a lot tougher. I copied this one-to-one, but I'm starting again from scratch tomorrow to make an original character, which I plan to animate for a cute little music video (: Thank you for the tutorial!!!
@@LmanRegular Hi! Around the time of my original comment, I completed an Animal Crossing inspired track just for this Blender idea, but I ended up dropping Blender to go back to working on my music and some audiovisual videos. I had created a model of a cat, a tree, and a small "world", all in the style of Animal Crossing just to give me a way to learn different aspects of Blender, but it was a LOT to do for me as a beginner, and I never finished it. Lost interest entirely. I might return to Blender eventually, but honestly, I consider my time with Blender a temporary break from arts/skills/programs that I am much more familiar with. I bother to mention all this because I know that someone might be beating themselves up for not being able to commit to Blender _or_ some other creative project. If you already have creative endeavors to fall back on, no worries, we don't _need_ to be a jack-of-all-trades, or the "master-of-all-trades" that perfectionism might suggest we need. We don't. If you don't have an area of expertise already and are just exploring creative outlets, that's fine too. Either way, just do what you feel like doing. Sometimes, especially if you have yet to call any area your calling, discipline _IS_ required to develop the skills you want to make the things you want to make, and I promise it's totally worth it. It's only hard in the beginning, but once things become habit, passion can *really* take over and before you know it, you can't live without creating what you love ALL the time. I didn't intend to drop all this text when I started this comment lol, but maybe someone in a certain place in their life will read this at a certain time. I 'unno.
So helpful, after watching lots of other tutorials this one struck the right balance I needed to figure things out. I hope there is more coming since its been awhile since posting.
Please slow down and leave the menu's up for longer next time you're doing a tutorial. Your content is amazing, you're just a little bit too fast on 1x speed. Remember, you know this program like the back of your hand, but the rest of us are clueless!

Loving this tutorial but at 4:10 I'm struggling trying to pan around the image to delete the vertices for the ears. Almost like it won't let me pan around the X axis if that makes sense. Any suggestions for a true newbie?
i've been using blender for school for almost a year now (I study in video game) and from watching like 3 videos of yours I've learned so much stuff i didnt know about the software aaaa thank u so much. I jsut have a question, I dont fully understand what the 3 Button mouse add-on is for. Is it because you're on mac with the magic mouse or should I also activate it with windows? (I assumed you were on mac because of the overlay but I might be wrong)
Thanks for watching!! The Emulate 3 mouse button option is because I use a graphics tablet instead of a mouse, and the pen doesnt have 3 buttons, so when that button is on, I can select loops with double click. Someone in my previous tutorial mentioned the double click selection wasnt working for them, and I realised it was because the Emulate 3 mouse button was off. If you have it off, I think you can select loops with Alt+ left click, and its also fine!
THANK YOU SO MUCH Yesterday I was SO frustrated because I wanted to make a diamond ring and I didn't know where to find it. Your video opens exactly teaching how! I'm barely a beginner so I'm super excited by this detail. Keep up the good work and thanks again!
Great video but this goes WAY too fast. You shouldn't cut the breaths out of your audio otherwise I have to switch back and forth between blender and pausing the video for every single step.

Whenever I do the shade smooth on the rounded cube, it makes this weird line down the middle of the object. Does anyone know why? My rounded cube doesn’t seem as round as hers, and It has 4 pointy areas on the top, bottom and both of the sides of the object. :(((
Hmmm...can you check the mirror modifier is first on your modifiers tab? What I think you are describing happens if you add the subdivision surface modifier first, and then the mirror modifier. Mirror modifier should be first on your list. Let me know if this worked🙏
I also had this problem so for anyone else struggling: I had to select all, go to mesh > merge > then "By distance". Credit to Moonboots on the Blender forum for this solution : )

hi! i am trying to do this tutorial but i am confused about what she means when she says to press "set it" at 3.38. can you explain how u completed it if its not to hard?
@@leilamatias3567 hey, sorry for the late reply! didnt notice your message until now :3 she said "press z" - you can also see on the left of the screen all the buttons shes pressing, which is super useful! so yeah, "z" is the key that brings up the menu that she's talking about. hope i could help
how did she get the colorful map in the texture painting part? :/
its so cute- and this helped me a lot~!
Glad to hear that!!!
me: I have used blender for 5+ years I know everything there is to know about blender
also me: cute frog!
*learns basic blender tools that could’ve saved me hours of work if I had known earlier*
BLENDER HAS DEFENITLY CHANGED OVER THE YEARS HAHAHA I AM HAVING TROUBLE
Im in the minute 2:30 and its so easy to understand good quality video and no need to stay more than 1 hour if u have already done more than 1 tutorial before than doing this one thanks alot.
had A LOT of problems with the UV editing and the mesh, but i finished it, its not identical but its something, i'll get better at doing the mesh and i'll do froggy again until they look the same as yours! thank u for this tutorial! learned a lot
i loved this tutorial, i didn't actually make a frog but this helped a lot in making my character, and i could barely do anything in blender before i saw this video :') thank u so much!
This is one of the most useful Blender tutorials I have seen for character modeling. Really good content
Did this tutorial in like 4h or so and i feel so lucky that this is the first tutorial i clicked on today. So much useful information, could understand almost every step. After the froggy I immediately jumped in and with some of my notes could create a cute little character right after! Thank you so much, seriously
Love this tutorial! Would you consider making a tutorial for sculpting humanoid characters? (such as the miku sculpt you did)
definitely! but Im still learning, so once I get confident with it I will share the knowledge :)
If you like me are stuck at the UV part and don't know how to move things around just deselect everything then point with your mouse what you want to select and press "L", it will select the whole part! then just use as always G, R and S to move things around :D
Thank you to Mar for this tutorial by the way it made me love Blender instantly!
So exciting!! I have been waiting for this, cannot wait to watch and try to follow the tutorial myself.
Your content is amazing and I'm so happy you create these tutorials!
Thank you so much!!!
saying zed instead of zee confused me so hard lol.
I finished the froggy! Thank you so much! I had always wanted to use Blender, and now I made it thanks to you! Thank you, thank you!
it took me 20 mins just to add the extra objects extension 💀(in the updated version of blender it is located in "Get extensions"--right above Add-ons--and it is called "Extra Mesh Objects")
Thank you! Literally came back and sorted the comments here by newest in the hopes somebody gave a heads up because I was strugglinggggg :')
@@bunnyears23 same lul.
I love to watch your timelapses so I'm glad there is (finally) a realtime tutorial!
I would suggest adding timestamps for each section just in case, other than that it was fun to watch 😊💜
ahhh!! I was gonna add timestamps and I totally forgot! thanks for reminding me!
15:17 you skipped the video there and I cant figure out if it was important or not. how did you get that color palate in the UV port?
I was scrolling and saw a comment she replied to regarding this, saying "Thats a default texture I used for doing some tests. Its not needed to complete this tutorial so don’t worry about it."
Whilst I'm sure these types of videos must take a huge amount of effort to put together, please make more if you can. This was absolutely brilliant. I learnt so much. Thanks :D
Aaa this tutorial is so good! I've been wanting to get into Blender for a while but never had the right tutorial to start with! This really helped me out, thank you for making it!
Thanks for watching!!
I have been learning Blender from paid courses for a few months now, but your video is far better than all the videos I have seen ! Thank you so much for this, a wonderful video for all beginners with all the steps you need to render a 3D illustration. I love it.
this was good, but a few things make it a bit more confusing for newbies:
- the double click to select an edge loop add on is unnecessary, you can already alt+click, and the default is better for people to learn
- you use hot keys a lot, when it would be better to show people where to find it in the menu, for example Edge>Mark Seam
THANKS FOR THE ALT THING I WAS GOING INSANE WITH THAT XDD
I'm so proud of myself! This tutorial is THE best of the best for beginners. I started off in blender with no knowledge and now I'm nearly done with my froggy! I'm so happy! There's hope for me yet! Thank you!
the edge loop menu thing killed me. where have you've been
No because I've actually learned from this. It's hard looking for tutorials that explain things the way you do. Thank you!
How did you straighten/flatten the vertices at 10:13 ? Awesome vid, thanks for sharing.
S Z 0 (S for scale, Z to scale on the Z axis and since we dont really want to scale them up (we just want to place all of them on the same spot vertically) we type 0, so wherever the vertices are, they meet at the average 0 on the Z axis)
@@Marcelaylucin Thank you!!
@@Marcelaylucin thanks,u good~~~like you
@@Marcelaylucin In the video at 4:16 you double click between two verticies and a looptools menu comes up, that doesn’t come up for me even though I enabled the looptool addon at the start and saved it. 😢
You got me through an important university 3D computer graphics project with this video, I'm SO GRATEFUL! I didn't submit a frog but your teaching and instructions were amazing I was able to do my own unique character, a human man. Thanks so much for this video! truly a lifesaver.
I think it's even better than the donut tutorial. Lol. Thank you so much! Hope there are more tutorials like this!!
OMG, things u make are so cute and have your own style to them that I just love! This makes me enjoy blender more as a beginner!
hi, when i double click to try to select the loop of vertices at 4:20 i can't seem to get the loop to be selected, only the one im clicking
I had this problem and I resolved it by pressing "Alt" while I was clicking. Hope it helps! :D
@@claudiacasado716I had this issue and saw you comment and it really helped. But when I right click, no looptool menu comes up.. 😪
@@claudiacasado716rightclicking for me just deselects the whole loop..
How did you equal out the legs when scaling at 8:25? Finally got to trying this tutorial and its really exciting to learn thank you!
I'm also stuck on this part!
help me too
I love the title 'Easy Froggy'. I keep giggling at it like a maniac.
Gonna def try this tomorrow!
i am already lost at the Add-ons tab. My window doesn't really look like yours and i am having trouble finding a way around it, as it is needed to get the square-faced round cube...
EDIT:
i think this has to do with me using a newer version (?) but i had to install them first in the 'Get Extensions' tab.
by far the best tutorial on blender
This has been the best tutorial. Holy shit this is great. U sound so nice and patient and u explain every little thing. Thank u so much
awww thanks!!!
Thank you so much! I;'ve been putting off learning blender for a while but this video taught me a lot today. I can't wait to finish my frog, I customized mine but it didn't come out as cute as yours. Thanks!
youre one of the very VERY rare people on youtube who are kind enough to give tutorials on how to make cute and pretty stuff instead of idk, a rotating donut
Don't poopoo the donut, it serves a purpose. It's not meant to serve your own tastes, it's there teach you the basics.
10:11 Hi, I need confirmation on this since I'm a bit lost at what Mar said about pressing "S", so to make it parallel, you just gotta press "S" + "Z" Axis right? Cuz I skipped the Z if she did said it
I wish I'd seen this video just a week earlier it would've improved my assignment workflow so much better! This was a really great tutorial!
Ngl I was only trying to figure out how to paint the model, but this is an amazing tutorial for anyone just beginning! The only thing I have to complain about is how fast you go, I was having a lot of trouble keeping up, I had to restart many parts a lot of times.
thank you so much this was adorable! i kept trying to jump into blender with these super ambitious ideas but this was perfect for me as a total beginner
One of my favorite tutorials.
Thank you!! I just have a question! On texture paint everything works find but when I try to paint the head (checks and eyes) my brush looks so pixeled I don´t know how to fix it! I also try different brushes. I can draw over the body and clothes this only happened in the head, can somebody help me please? :( Thank youu
THat's the tutorial we have all waited for, let the froggiemaking begin!
Yay, I did it!
If I hadn't already done Blender Guru's tutorial donut, this would have been a lot tougher. I copied this one-to-one, but I'm starting again from scratch tomorrow to make an original character, which I plan to animate for a cute little music video (:
Thank you for the tutorial!!!
Hey, how is your music video going?
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I have tried to learn to work with blender before but I was too overwhelmed that i was not able to start. With your tutorial I was able to get confortable with blender and get results. And you explaine everything in detail even the small steps that make a big difference. Thank you ^^ Sending lots of love
Loving this tutorial but at 4:10 I'm struggling trying to pan around the image to delete the vertices for the ears.
Almost like it won't let me pan around the X axis if that makes sense.
Any suggestions for a true newbie?
If I’m understanding you correctly, holding the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) will help you pan around your model
Finally completed this tutorial and made a little goth frog🥳its a bit choppy but thank you for this tutorial, Blender seems a little less daunting now
After dozens of donuts, and chairs.
I now choose you FROGGY
"For begginers" Proceeds to explain things far better than anyone else. 😍❤❤❤❤❤
my texture brush isnt working???? im trying to draw but nothings showing up. this is super frustrating. i did exactly what the tut said :(
This tutorial literally just solved all my problems at once. Thankyou
About to make this! So cute :D
Normally I hate having to re-learn programs or when they update / i just forget but this made it a lot more bearable, thank you!
i've been using blender for school for almost a year now (I study in video game) and from watching like 3 videos of yours I've learned so much stuff i didnt know about the software aaaa thank u so much.
@@Marcelaylucin I see I see! Thank you for your answer
You shouldn't cut the breaths out of your audio otherwise I have to switch back and forth between blender and pausing the video for every single step.
isn't that how tutorials work?
@@criminechen nope, it works however the creator makes it. Yet there are preferences when it comes to tutorials. Beginner is automatically associated with S L O W. So, I agree
just change the playback speed in the video settings :) helps a lot
Um no . They can do what they want❤
@@florahorvath6794 nope.
I'm stuck at 3:30 dragging a new window. How do you do that? Very great tutorial, thank you!
The explanations you gave are very helpful. Thank you for sharing your process ^-^
Bro, I'm 2 minutes in and I've already learned so much from the amazing way you are explaining it! Thank you so much for the tutorial!
@@Comic_Slams Thank you so much
@@Marcelaylucin I have this problem but fixing it with putting Mirror first.
Got this randomly recommended to me and already this is such a better 3D tutorial than all the ones I've seen back when I even attempted to do any 3D modelling. Actually makes the process really not look that intimidating and you say everything clearly so nothing is confusing! Gonna try my hand at this, thank you :)
If toggle overlays doesn't show up you can do "ALT + SHIFT + Z"
tysm
What’s the shortcut on a mac, please?
at 8:08 how do i make all the points exactly horizontal? i press S and Z and can only fine tune it and the angle is like 0.0833 from being horizontal instead of snapping :(
this is not a starting tutoital. more medium/ adavcned, and the pace is wayyyyyy 2 fast for me lol. still following along.
Complete beginner here, thank you so much for making this! Also gotta love a cute froggo
??? how do i open another window???
Thank you for making this tutorial, I used this to create my first Blender-made 3D model!
Seasoned blender user and you still taught me some things! Thanks!
I saw the thumbnail and I clicked. I definitely hope you do more of these.
why is this so harddddd
this was awesome! i was afraid it would be too advanced at first but i went slow and understood well on what to do :)
This should be in animal crossing, good tutorial
The best beginner tutorial you will ever see. I tried all the rest...just trust me lol
