I finally figured out that it was easier to train my tiny dog by sitting her in a living room chair that had arms. That way I could teach her to sit and lay down without her running around or twirling or backing up. I highly recommend it. It’s much easier on your back too!
Lovely - you don’t know how to train your Dog if you are not getting a response….go on the web & learn. Only use the gentle, positive reinforcement training videos - this is the way to Train All Dogs….gently & quietly.
I'm a new Chihuahua owner. He is my dream dog!! All he wants to do is gain my approval. He is not motivated by food at all. He'll do anything If I praise him for it. So sweet and loyal. Also, he is fiercely protective in a big dog way but in a convenient little package. The lovey cuddles are out of this world!!! I don't know why I don't hear people talking about what great pets Chihuahuas are!!
Thank you so much for your your video. I see how fast your dog did the command. I look forward to your other videos. One question, I'm getting two chiluahua, Do u think they both can learn together?
Thanks so much for doing these videos! Sure beats paying $100 a session with a dog trainer. I'm 99% sure I'm going to get a chihuahua that is 5 months old. This is so helpful. Can't thank you enough!
Thank you Sir, I am getting a male Chihuahua in a week, and have watched hundreds of videos. You are very good. I like your sweet personality and that you said tape instead of video 🙂😍
My puppy learned his name by himself, and now he can pick up anything I try to teach him after only a few tries,as long as its for a tiny piece of chicken.😆😆 He's called Dempsey and he's 4 months old. He's hilarious.
My little 9 pound female Chihuahua was very attentive and perked up every time he said "good girl" because I say that to her while training her. She learned everything she needed just watching this video. Moving on to the next video😉
I just got two new chihuahua puppies about 2 months ago , they are sisters , but I'm having the hardest time getting them to come to me and stop chasing my cat's and walking on a leash, I love them so much , so I'm watching every video I possibly can on training them, I've never owned this breed before .
I about flipped out when u said u had a Doberman. I have 2 bouviers an 1 rescue Doberman. An I never wanted a Doberman but she's wonderful!! I had a very serious accident broke my back in 5 places an shattered my right kneehad surgery inboth knee an back. Spent 7 months in a wheel chair an can't do much now. I love my big dogs but they can't be in my wheelchair an had to learn more rules. So I've decided to get a chihuahua the mother is to have her puppies any day now an can bring it home 8 weeks later. An wondered how hard it would be to train him. I want a lap dog an found a breeder with in 10 miles from our home. So I can visit til I can bring him home. I've taken my dogs to classes an feel I need to be in control but a little dog is so different for me. I'm retired an home a lot. So he'll go with me most of the time. All my dogs r very socialized an so will he
Wow....that was really wonderful. What a great trainer...so patient with the dog and we viewers. Just adopted a rescued Chihuahua and I love him so much. I want to train him so I will be watching faithfully as a new subscriber...I can use all the help I can get. My Chihuahua is house trained and that was a big step. He is 3 years old colored like a Dalmatian with upright spotted ears. He is 9 pounds. Thanks again from Debbie and Dexter-Dog out west in S. California. 😀🌅🏡
Sir you're the *BEST* ; BTW I really wanted to know the *BANG* trick. the one when you said BANG with a gun finger and then the dog will pretend to be dead
Im glad I found this video. I realize that frequently picking up small dogs can lead to problems later on vs. when training/interacting with larger dogs, you dont pick them up so that dominance is there and there isnt that favoritism factor. Nothing against the trainer, I'm positive he knows what hes doing, its just something for me to keep in mind. Never had small dogs (always mid to large) and I'm rly worried about the plentiful history of small dog aggression and chihuahua aggressive barking. But its starts with the owner...
Thanks for this training session. I have a Tweenie. Part chihuahua and part dachshund. Very smart. She is 3 months old and I already potty trained her to go outside or on pee pad. Today I walked her with my big dog. At first she resisted but she caught on and did what my big dog did. My big dog has been good at helping me train her. I’m a little nervous because I never had a small dog before. All big dogs. But my hub and I have always trained all of them and people said we had the best behaved dogs. 😊👍💕🐾
A Shetland Sheepdog, German Shepherd & a Papillon learn between 2-5 goes. I have a Pure Bred Chi - the breed is not known for intelligence, they are adaptable. Mine has learnt certain things….if he is happy so am I. The man is a caring proud owner….Chi’s can be stubborn. People should be intelligent & do their Research on Dog Breeds. I don’t expect my Chi to be an Einstein…the Dogs I first mentioned are highly intelligent & so trainable, affectionate &!devoted. He loves & respects his little Dog & the little Dog loves him - that’s all that really matters.
HI all... and @Angela Shook - my chihuahua, Chico is 4+ yrs old . he is a gift and i own him since a a few months ago. he has had no real training. he responds to his name and ok with his toilet habits ( goes out in the yard for toilet). My question : is it too late to train him? is there still hope for him learning "sit, stay, come" ,shake hand etc ? thank you all
I have 4 chi 3 females 1 male they learn to sit stay come and lay down in just one hour, They don't come until I say come. They also know hand signals. they are one of the easier small dogs to train
R Bear I agree, they are a very intelligent breed. We have rescued 4 chihuahuas. Two of them were old. in spite of their ages, they were still able to learn a number of simple commands. Our current chihuahua seems to learn commands within minutes, and she needs minimal prompt for the next day or so, but then she's got it. Chihuahuas are amazing!
My chihuahua also knows commands in English, German and Spanish as well as hand signals. Check out some of our videos ua-cam.com/video/FufreEi4o8Q/v-deo.html
What do I do if my Chihuahua stiffens up his back legs each time I try to make him sit so whenever I try to push his butt down he locks his legs and doesn’t let me make him sit?
It's gonna take some time bit if your dog doesn't know the trick "sit" then do not use stay until they master "sit"! Now once your dog has learned sit and can do it using verbal/physical verbal and physical. Next you teach "stay" so you say "sit!" And if they sit say stay. If they move then go closer and re-do it over and over again!
Why wait until the dog is 1 year before you start to teach it sit-come-stay?!? Basic obedience should be taught from start when you receive your puppy.
ye dogs take quiet the time to get them to do what you want but i learned you need to be really patient i trained my chihuuahua like 5 times a day obviously with a break xD
Only thing I can suggest.... You repeat yourself, ie, the dobermans. Stick to what you know that we'd love to know. I LOVE the "laid back" demeanor but tend to be anxious to learn. Thanks.
Please come to my house, my boy is 8 and not easy to train,I’ve tried everything...he is very timid always has been, sometimes I worry has a brain problem, vet says no.......any clues.....
To train any dog. Be very patient. They might not get it on the first try, and reward the behavior you want. Won't take long before they get what you want. Be consistent and repeat. Eventually you will have a great dog.
How old is ur chihuahua? I have a chihuahua also, male, and when he sleeps on my lap and i try to move him he growls at me. Of course i tell him no, and sometimes when he keeps on growling i grab him by the neck skin, not too hard, i point at him and tell him no and he just bit at my finger. I mean i point at my big dog if he does something wrong and he listens. I guess small dogs are different? Am i doing something wrong? My chihuahua is 12 weeks old
Try keeping him off your lap for a few days and when you invite him to lay on you, if he dose it,again simply stand up scruff him tell him no and turn your back to him until he leaves you alone and try again. That what I did for a grandmothers aggressive chihuahua. And it worked
The man in the video says this dog is over a year old. you have a 12 week old puppy!! you can't train a 12 week old puppy!! and you don't ignore a little puppy for a few days. it's not agression.. he's a dang puppy! puppies want to play all the time and if one of their litter mates does something they don't like, they growl. a pointed finger is something to chew on- they still have their milk teeth for at least the first 3 months - in my experience, much longer. Puppies don't have any self control. I would suggest if he growls at you just put him on the ground and ignore him for a few minutes.Don't pick him up by his "neck skin". Too much chance of injury. be gentle and patient and use more of a time out (putting the dog away from you for now) until he gets older. have 3 chihuahuas. I had another that passed a few months ago, 13 years old. right now my youngest is 9 months old. I don't put them in their crates for time out.. you want them to feel good about their crates. this little girl I have now is very rambuntious.. if she gets to be too much, I put her in the little corral I have for the dogs. if she does something good, I praise her like mad.. if she does something like bite me, I scold her and put her down. Aggressive is not a word to be used with a 12 week old puppy.
+Angela Shook lol good answer! yep puppies totally different then an adult! both worked for me ! we had our first chi that came to us from a rescue at one of those 'Puppy Farms' unfortunately this little Chocolate Malt Chi had been brought back three times because she had been raised in a Wire Cage ( with a wire bottom) and folks not seeing the Actual farm would bring her back because she wouldn't potty train at 8yrs and she would constantly lick her bottom while curled in a ball. We realized quickly that she did this when she was cold so held her more and put light sweaters on her . Then we took her out every two hours (stopping at door having her sit then go out) and gave her high praise when she went potty . In no time she was asking to go out ! The best was when she played like a puppy for the first time in her life in her 3rd , and last , year with us ! We miss you Kimmie!!! We now have Mokie , a cream , and Miss. Violet BL/wh I can't remember the name of breed, 7and5 yrs oh boy what a pair! same longhaired mama so actual half sisters! Never thought I'd own one of these yappin' anklebitters lol always had Shepherd or lab! The family dog while our children grew up was a doberman/healer rescued pup that was with us for 18 1\2 yrs. lol would give our "yappers" up for nothin' !!!!
Did u know you are doing it wrong they need to try there selfs before you force them and when you say sit and stuff you only need to say it once if they don’t do it then say it again if the dog does not do it
I only spend about 2-3 minutes when I train my Chi - Dogs get bored very quickly. Better to teach one thing at a time - my Chi was focused on my other Dog, but still learnt. Dogs do not have a long……attention span - they get bored & confused if you drag the training out too long. I wouldn’t have spent 25 minutes at a time training my highly intelligent German Shepherd. If you have a true Bond with any Dog, whether a Puppy, or a Rescue they will respond. He is trying to train the Chi & talking into the camera - the Chi is being overloaded with words ..very confusing for the Dog - he says no distractions …he is talking & talking into the Camera - it is a huge distraction for the Chi.
I had trouble watching the video. My mind kept imagining him getting very angry and aggressive with Kiki. And ranting about "every fucking time i tries to make a video, there's a distraction! It never fucking fails, son of a damned ass bitch!!" ugh idk man, why I'm like that lol..
agri-faded = drinking while crop dusting "boy o'boy last weekend I was taking moonshine shots while spraying farmer bobs field and shiiiiii was I agri-faded"
yes, it was. took just a few tries, first for a treat,,, then just praise. stay was a little harder.. start with just short distances,,, and always praise when they do it right. just takes patience.
I can’t get my dog to listen at all. No motivation to look at me or listen, doesn’t want to learn at all. I can’t lure with food, happy voice, nothing works!!! He’s just a butt hole 😂

I really appreciate you posting this sir! Love KiKi and great work sir!
This was great and without treats! Going to binge watch the other videos. Thank you 😊.
The thing about these videos is that they are adorable yet plodding, and that's the reality of training chi's.
My Chihuahua just looks at me like I'm stupid when I try to teach her tricks lol..Thanks for the tips

@@bondjames7007I don’t know how to train my Chiweenie 😅he stares at me and wags his tail 🤦♀️
New chihuahua owner here...found this angel roadside. My vet guesses him to be about 6 years. Thank-you for the great tips.

How about a video about excessive barking?

Chihuahuas are highly intelligent, you just don't know how to get a proper response.

Love it!! She's such a good lil girl!! Great video!!
do treats speed up the progress? how should I incorperate them into trainning?
Thank you for your videos!!!
No distractions. 🤣
And I’m not trying to hate it’s just what I Learned but Kiki’s doing great!

Pretty painful to listen to with all the talking. This probably could have been a 5 min video with actual training.

it worked and I did a Japanese chin chiuahnuah
I spelled that wrong *_*

agri-faded = drinking while crop dusting
"boy o'boy last weekend I was taking moonshine shots while spraying farmer bobs field and shiiiiii was I agri-faded"
OMG u nickname her Kiki but I had a dog named Kiki.....and S-she........died yesterday :(
you should teach her sit first,,, one thing at a time
yes, it was. took just a few tries, first for a treat,,, then just praise. stay was a little harder.. start with just short distances,,, and always praise when they do it right. just takes patience.
gracias , pero, no gracias,,,
Ok more training and less talking. The whole video is 5 minutes of training and the rest is a life story
Crate training off the video
I can’t get my dog to listen at all. No motivation to look at me or listen, doesn’t want to learn at all. I can’t lure with food, happy voice, nothing works!!! He’s just a butt hole 😂
Talks too much, more training time
very repetitive....good for training...bad for video watching
I think he did a terrific training video. Thanks! Gonna watch more. Love his approach with little Kiki 🤗
So much rest talking!,,,
Sorry this is not how you train a dog….🙄🙄
Too much talking not enough training
Why do you keep picking her up like shes a baby? Petting her before she completes the task??? 🤦
Am I the only one who felt awkward?? 😶
Sheridan Carpenter What do you mean?
Felt awkward lol????
your just talking not training no my laptop is lowball
uhhhhhh...is your trigger word, when your formulating your thought...uhhhhh
You might want to train that annoying barker in the background
you talk too much
