Regarding the smooth finish on the plastic, that could simply because they're new prototype parts made with 'soft tooling' to check shape and fit. I was a launch engineer supporting prototype build at JLR for several years, and sometimes prototype interior parts had the same smooth finish, with texture being added for the production 'hard tooling'.
