I like fancy cheeses, but Velveeta definitely has a place in the kitchen I think. Very good for making a thick gooey mac and cheese or melting over a good burger patty. I like the flavor if I'm in the mood, but it isn't for everyone but neither is any other cheese. Its melted texture is where it really shines.

@@dmitri8117 I agree with you. I get sick of Velveeta very quickly, so I rarely buy it, but every once in a while it is great for mac and cheese or nachos.

Never seen Gouda cheese this white and I'm Dutch (actually live only 20 kilometers from Gouda) also wouldn't describe it like goaty or sheepy at all. But perhaps Gouda in the US is really different I know it has red wax on it abroad instead of orange

Did Chris Morocco invent this test to redeem himself after the Red Leicester fiasco?
I wondered the exact same thing haha. It has to be after right? He did say "That's my Gruyere."
I mean there are roughly a billion comments in that video saying "I wanna watch the BA people blind taste test cheeses!" so this is a pretty simple and obvious thing to crank out in a day.
Morocco is full of himself.
this really showed that he doesn't have supreme senses over the other BA chefs as he thinks he is.

GoMhaaad He literally ran downstairs in his jacket and wanted to help Claire when he found out she had to do pop rocks.
If you watch back far enough you can see that he is also the go to guy for help in the Test Kitchen.
He also spends months perfecting recipes and is super quick to update info based on the comments. I mean he re-wrote BAs Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe because people wanted the measurements in grams as well.
I don’t think he is full of himself. He is just confident in his abilities and you can see that everyone in the Test Kitchen genuinely respects him.

@@JoeBlow_4 I worked for Kraft and packaged the products, same pipe of processed cheese going to two different extruding machines. Slice velveeta thinly and it will be a limp as a kraft single.

All chedder has anato in it, that's what makes it yellow. Red Leicester has more anato than others, it doesn't affect the taste.

@@brissygirl4997 Anato gives the cheese a dark orange hue. Cow's milk cheese is usually yellow in color. Goat's and sheep milk cheeses are generally white in color. There are always exceptions to these rules.

@@Pussinconverses I'd say it is more of a prejudice due to so many "health" websites and fake TV doctors saying that processed cheese is plastic. Cheap processed cheese is not very good tasting, but the better brands are made from cheese and sodium citrate, a type of salt. You can even make it at home.
And the Gouda “tastes kinda cheap“

As a Dutch person, I almost felt offended you defined Gouda cheese as Goat cheese... it's typically a mild & creamy yellow cow cheese.
But it was very entertaining of course.

You can make a Gouda style cheese out of goat milk though. It's just that we never call it Gouda, just "geitenkaas". But I eat that stuff almost every day, so yeah it definitely exists.

There are too many terrible knockoffs of these cheeses made in America. I used to think I hated many different cheeses, like Gouda and Havarti for example, because all I ever had were the American-made varieties that taste like plastic.
Then I started working in a European import store, and now I like them, because we have the real stuff, not the American garbage.
Gouda is very versatile too depending on how old or young it is. Young Gouda is pretty mild and inoffensive, basically a better alternative for all the places where usually bland processed cheeses are used. Aged Goudas get progressively more intense and get more character, harder consistency and don't really melt any more when heated.

I mean even when one eats Velveeta it's usually on a grilled cheese or in a dip, it's not like you eat a chunk of Velveeta. That being said, Velveeta like all things has it's purpose and is delicious at that purpose.

@@barongerhardt I used gouda and cream cheese in the last batch I made. I'll use any cheese and any bite size pasta shapes I have available. Some days I might go the extra mile and throw in some mix-ins like ham.
Made me feel sad for Americans because I can buy a pound of real Gouda cheese for 4 euro ( 4.5$)
@@barongerhardt Don't use it on it's own. A softer cheese (Philadelphia cream cheese, goat cream cheese, ricotta, et cetera) can help the texture when paired with an aged cheese.
