I remember the display windows when I was a kid. They were always themed to whatever Disney animated movie was being released in theaters at the time. And if there was no movie being released in theaters, they then themed it to whatever was coming out of the vault for a VHS re-release. And as you walked past all the windows, you got various key scenes from the movie, so it was like having a little mini story being told. It was always the first thing I wanted to see when we went to the park.
The windows were themed to whatever Disney movie was coming out at the time. I saw the windows themed to "The Black Hole" when I was a kid. Let me know if you can see my post.
My personal favorite hidden secret are the secret characters hidden in Mr toad’s queue. The little statues of toad, Mole, mac badger, and ratty built into the wall by the garden, the toad head gargoyles (I guess) on the ceiling, and even the toad’s hidden in the wall paper. People talk about hidden Mickey’s but I bet that the number of hidden toad’s can rival that
My favorite number reference is in California side in the Grizzly River Run. The clock in the queue is set to 6:49 which on it’s own means little. But if it’s PM and military time, it’s 18:49, so 1849, the year credited for the CA gold rush.
As a custodian at Disneyland, I don't know if anyone's covered this little secret yet. The coca cola refreshment station on main Street, you'll notice it has red and white bulbs along the sign. Walt wanted it to be an even number of bulbs so that there would be the same amount of white bulbs as there were red. However, someone messed up and ended up with an odd number of bulbs total. But Walt wasn't going to have it look off. So, if you look closely, in the corner is a bulb that is half white and half red. Just a fun little detail that I love sharing with the guests. And no one ever notices unless it's pointed out by a cast member
I actually took notice of it on my last trip around Christmas time last year. It’s always nice to see the little details. Also people don’t love you cast members enough, you guys do too much for too little.
i think this has been in one of these videos because i remember hearing about this years ago - but it's always a good little trivia ... theres so many of them 😛
I’m going to Disneyland for the first time in 15 years in November so I’m excited about learning more about the park! I’m a Disney world girl so this is out of my territory hahaha
8:45 Oh interesting about the self playing pipe organ in the candy shop. A number of years ago, I'm thinking like early 2000, my sister and I were in there and I'm not sure if it was the same contraption but you could insert coins into the player and pick a song for it to play. We loved it so much and kept having it play songs that a cast member came over to see what was up. He told us a few things about it and we told him what we liked about it. If it's the same machine, I can understand why they changed it from pay to play to instead a timed performance. 😅 Sorry about that if we caused that hahah
it might be the same machine, because it does have a little coin slot thing on the side that's pressable. i don't think you can put coins into it but i always see people pressing it lol
One of my favorites is the Eeyore parking sign hidden in the pre-show room of Indiana Jones Adventure. It pays tribute to the former Disneyland parking lot (part of which Indiana Jones Adventure stands on). It is usually hard to see without the use of a flashlight; but if you ask a Cast Member in that room, they may be able to shine their flashlight on him. If they don't, then look towards the projector and you may be able to see him if the lighting coming from the projector is just right. I took the point and shoot approach with the camera on my phone since the line was moving (no, I did not use the flashlight on my phone) and got a pretty good shot of it.
By the way, the Eeyore parking lot at the Disneyland parking lot was named after Eeyore the Gloomy Donkey from the Winnie the Pooh franchise from Disney.
I used to go to Disney about 2-3 times a week during my summer break because I own a pass and I knew about a few of these details but there were a few in this video that I had missed. Your videos never fail to disappoint ❤
I love the elephant story. I will have to look for it next time. My mom loved the music from the Penny Arcade pipe organ. There is also a vintage Pinocchio dancing doll. I really miss the penny machines.
We are Disney fans and love all the details. We live in Alaska in summer and Oregon in Winter. There’s two areas in California Adventure that are linked to Alaska and Oregon, the first being Knick’s Knack’s, and the other Smokejumpers Grill. In Smokejumpers there’s a sign showing all the US based Smokejumper airports including our home towns Palmer, Alaska and Redmond Oregon. It’s pretty cool to have these three places connected to Disneyland! Thanks for the great video!!
There is another hidden Mickey in Toontown. Go over to the giant door to thr right of Minnie's house. There is a small cast member entrance. If you poke your head back there, you can see a hidden Mickey made of brick
I want to know how you find your secrets out! I spend hours every week seeing what I can learn from your videos, others, and general research from outside sources. But it still is never enough and I know there’s so much more I can learn
TPM!! I think this would be a very cool story to tell as I haven’t heard it yet on your channel. I’m sure other schools have done it before but when my school (choir, orchestra, band) all went on a field trip to Disney land California, a cast member would take us backstage behind toon town and we would play to the Disney music. Then the Disney cast member would show us the disney film scene but instead of the original music, it was our music playing. Very cool to watch and experience.
Oh my god do I love grizzly peak. Backstory; I just went to Disneyland for the first time this June and stayed in the paradise pier. So every time I needed to get to Disneyland or DTDD I had to cross the street and walk through the grand Californian (also I prefer it to the grand Floridian in WDW) I love the theming in the lobby, and that’s basically what grizzly peak is and I just love the woodsy vibe the whole hotel and area gives off
Such a great video! Another Star Tours secret that has always been one of my favorites is when they call for guest egreog sacul...George Lucas spelled backwards
You think that puppet doesn’t look like Peter Pan and that he looks creepy? Have you not seen the original Peter Pan? Because that looks just like him and he’s incredibly creepy.
These history/lore videos you do are the absolute best ones. I’d be perfectly happy if you did one deep dive video for each story in this video, as opposed to the top 7 format.
When we were kids in the 70s, one of the first things we would do is check out the emporium windows. We would always try to guess what movies would be depicted in the car on the way up
When is TPM going to do videos about Hong Kong Disneyland? Hong Kong Disneyland is a very underrated Disney Park and I am surprised that TPM hasn't done a full video about it.
When I was younger I used to watch your videos and I saw one of your breakdown videos with Ursula in it and it scared me so I stopped watching your videos for a whole 3 years but I started watching your videos again because I'm nine now and I know what I'm doing and I'm not scared that easily anymore hey that's my little story 😊
Never knew about Penny the elephant and I remember seeing that at Gibson Girl when I had shifts there in bussing back in 2003-2006. Also the barn that stored Walt's train is tribute to the barn and his parents place in Missouri.
Awesome work, as always. Thank you! By the way, TPM VIDS, there is something that I think you should know! Paul Reubens has died! The guy who did Rex in Star Tours! I just wanted to let you know! I don't wish any disrespect on you! I hope you have a good day ❤!
You know it’s a good day when TPMVids uploads.
Agreed
Real
So true
True
Yep!

Congratulations, have a good time.
Grew up going to DW for 20 years. Moved to CA and I find DL so small and overcrowded and can't compare to DW
Sadly disneyland won’t be that good now since splash mountain is gone but It will still be really good but still I love splash mountain
I love how he always sounds like he's smiling, even on a day like this where it's cloudy and I'm sick, he put a smile on my face
I always enjoy these videos I hope everyone is happy and having a wonderful day
I love that guy's beard @ 7:45
(the one in the back of the car)
Hello TPMVids it is great to see you again with more facts about Disneyland! I can't wait for my first Disneyland Trip! ❤❤❤

@@stephenkostiak3929 I know. I grew up watching Winnie the Pooh.
Tpmvids, what would you think Walt’s reaction would be if he saw how much it has changed
I used to go to Disney about 2-3 times a week during my summer break because I own a pass and I knew about a few of these details but there were a few in this video that I had missed. Your videos never fail to disappoint ❤

1:25 Lucy The Elephant is actually located in MARGATE CITY, New Jersey, and is a couple minutes down the road from Atlantic City!
