My father moved away and struggled being away from everyone he ever knew and only having his wife and us 3 young kids. He once told my mum when he was nearly out of all hope (coming from a man who has never shed a tear in his life) and ready to give up this song got him through. The toughest years of his life and someone who was never interested in this type of music had just this song to keep him going. Now he owns 3 houses, 2 boats, a caravan and a $800,000 house on the water.

I had a great mate who's son used to have bad dreams. Gaz used to sing this to his son of a night time, it helped him. Sadly Gaz died in a terrible accident, an accident that shouldn't have happened. His 7 year old son sung this song word for word at his funeral, not a dry eye in the joint. RIP great man hope all is well up there bud.

I used to write songs and play the guitar, and for what it's worth I only wish I'd written and performed a song this good just once in my lifetime. Good work mate!

This is such a special song to me. Apart from being a masterpiece of music and lyrics, it's a favourite of my darling son's who passed suddenly aged 40 in June of this year. It makes me cry to listen to it, but it also brings me closer to him. And with my musician friends we are going to re-create our own version of it in his honour. He was a guitarist / singer too and I know he will be listening and smiling at our efforts, probably joining in too.
